Is it possible that the newest source on github isn't buildable?
I'm not really good with c++ so if someone can helb me or point me to a git revison which is buildable?

Here is the compile error:

Is it just me, or is the GUI not in the download package? I'm only seeing 3 files: boolbd.exe  simpleminer.exe and simplewallet.exe
Sorry, website is fixed.

Hello friends, good news!

Today we have a new build v0.2.0.24(1ada156), that includes:
  • optimized miner algorighm (+15-20% mining speed) for windows
  • GUI now have new version notice
  • adjusted transactions size in wallet (once again), to avoid unminable transactions (that stucked in pools), adjusted default tx fee
  • adjusted html in few places
  • qt-GUI is released. After about a week of betta testing didn't find any serious bugs and, now it's included in all official builds. (MacOS prebuild binaries is coming soon, but, you can build it by yourself on your Mac, if you want).

Few words about new version notification: it is based on alerts signed by developers, that propagated over p2p network. So when some serious bugs are found we can quickly notify users that they need to update software. (unlike other cryptonote coins)
As i wrote before, this notifications let developers to indicate the builds that is critical to update, but at the same time it is not allow to specify any text or link in this notifications, so even if private keys will be stolem users can't be affected.

Here is example screenshot of new version avaliable:

Alerst have different modes, to indicate importance of update (this importance is related to build, for example: if buid 22 had critical bug then alert showed in build 22 as CRITICAL importance, and if build 23 also is not last one but don't contain critical bugs than alert showed there in calm mode, with blue color).

Here is an example of screen with crittical alert(red text actually is blinking):

What next:
Next gui verson will include
* showing recent transactions after opening wallet
* start mining button.

But now i have to switch my focus on stratum pool server/client.

We need a PR team or something, need to get this get known and higher volume on some exchanges like bittrex

A simple listing on CoinmarketCap would be a good start. Has anyone contacted them yet?
Yes, Mike submitted. Waiting for feedback.
705  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BBR] Boolberry [ANONYMOUS | CRYPTONOTE | ADDR ALIASES | NO IPO/PREMINE] on: June 21, 2014, 08:59:47 AM
good coin but i have missed.... Tongue  the price is too high for buying.

1/16th the market cap of Monero. I think it's pretty cheap Smiley
Plenty of room to grow.

Two very clear "stairs" on the chart the last couple weeks.
90 btc volume today and high volume all week.
Price was stable as someone bought up all the coins the last few days with high volume every day.

It's going up. For sure.

Also would be good to get it on Coinmarketcap.com now. I think it's time.
Just submit that block explorer over there to the CMC submission form. That's all it takes.

I asked Mike to take care about it.
Hope we will be there soon!

Hi folk!
Last 3 days i spent experementig with CPU miner optimizations.
I took original optimized code from http://keccak.noekeon.org, spent a lot of time adding macros for wild keccak, spent a lot of time finding a bugs in macros (finding bugs in macros it's real nighmare ), and then i've got some interesting results that i want to share.

On this graph vertical axis shows time spent for calculating 100000 hashes in two different algos and it horizontal axis shows how scratchpad is growing (for about one year).

Green lines it's a windows versions, as you could see optimzed version showed about 25% boost compared with original algo.
But, as the same code makes reverse effect in linux(blue lines) - optimized version works slower.

I guess it because ms compiler sucks Smiley gcc version is faster and doesn't need some manual optimization.
But, as i talked with dga, he also had some linux specific optimizations, that makes 10-15% boost, he is going to contribute it also.

This graph is built on my core i5, i think it would be interesting for all, if we get differen graphs for different CPUs.
HowTo get graph:
1. git pull
2. make -j
3. ./build/release/tests/performance_tests

after few performance tests you'll see something this:
Code:
sz	                 original opt
992                  2057      2270
100992              2058      2268
200992              2065      2273
300992              2073      2267
400992              2075      2268
500992              2091      2281
....

Now wait .... about 30-minutes, until numbers will be close to 100000000 (100MB scratchpad).
After that, just copy this text into any spreadsheets (i used google online spreadsheets) and make a graph from this.

PS: This graph should also explain why some people complain that new build have "bad" hash rate - here you can see how hash calculation is slowing down.

What next:
1. Tomorrow i'll make windows build that use optimized version and works a little faster
2. Also tomorrow we going to release GUI (if apple developer will finally create a bundle for macos precompiled binaries)
2. I'll start to work on stratum pool.

I've started mining on the pools with simpleminer, 8 core CPU. It show my avg hash rate at 40-50 KH/s but somehow pool show mine is only 5-6 KH/s ?? Does it better for solo mining ?
40-50 KH/s per core ?
Which pool ?
solominig is ok only if you have a huge patience.

The GUI wallet is very nice.  +1

I just starting mining this is 100kH/sec about right for an i5?
I guess you use windows ?
I have about 180kH/s on linux build. recommend you to do mining on linux.

how the wallet work, there is no roaming created, also i can't access to the "wallet" with the gui

Until it synchronising with network wallet tab is unaccessible.
I think i should place descritpion there if it's not clear. Notice will be added tin next build.

I guess this would be not difficult to build graph using D3.js ore something, want to add exchange graph tab to wallet.

Or does poloniex.com or bittrex.com share their graphs via URL/RPC ?

maybe you can use poloniex API

returnChartData

Returns candlestick chart data. Require POST parameters are "currencyPair", "period" (candlestick period in seconds; valid values are 300, 900, 1800, 7200, and 14400), "start", and "end". "Start" and "end" are given in UNIX timestamp format and used to specify the date range for the data returned. Sample output:

Code:
[{"date":1400477400,"high":0.01111,"low":0.00106,"open":0.01,"close":0.01111,"volume":2.2123290212839}, ...]

returnChartData  it's a part of Trading API, there some nonce parametr that will make problems for different clients.
I guess we have to use Public API Methods, for example returnTradeHistory.

  height:100%;
   -webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased;
    background: rgb(231, 231, 231);
}

in style.css, look a little more attractive.
done, thank you!

Just give a name for your wallet. For example: education_savings.bbr

The GUI is in HTML? If so- perhaps we could develop something like HIVE where exchanges can be plugged into the GUI directly?

What is HIVE ?
Anyway, it it technically possible and reasonable - i can do it.
GUI is rendered by WebKit, the same web engine that used in Chrome browser.

Hello.

btc-mike > I saw the work of cryptozoidberg on his Wallet. I decided to not fork it for multiple reasons :
- It is a very fresh work and I think he spent time on it. I guess forking it would be a bit frustrating for him. (even if it's in open-source philosophy)
- bitmonero-qt provides many features too with the same advantages.
- cryptozoidberg chose webkit-based UI. I chose QtQuick2-based UI. I want to see the advantages of QtQuick2 (fresh technology, future Androis/iOS compatibility ?)

BBR GUI is welcom to fork.
But i understand you and respect your work, and wish you a luck with QtQuick2.

Can anyone explain please:
- Why we need a hardfork (or not)?
- What about the scratchpad ?

there are gpu miners for wild keccack now (which is used by bbr).
as this coin is intended to be cpu only there is a scratchpad needed for mining (just as a added memory requirement).
a gpu dev figured out how to store it effeciently: so we are talking about a hardfork to change the size of the scratchpad (or to change anything else we want to)
to be more correct - wild keccak scratchpad is increasing with each block. Now scratchpad is about 7Mb. It will grow about 90MB per year, and, since at this moment scratchpad is not big enough - it is possible to use gpu textures cache to mine it faster, as i know.
But according to dga calculations gpu miner is about 2.3 times more cost-effective than cpu, since big advantage gives only expansive cards.

PS: Probability of that i'll do hardfork is less than 1%. Now we focused on optimizing miner and implementing stratum pools.

Hmm, I based my previous post off of the belief that the GPU miner was 7 times faster.  If the difference is 2.3 and will likely become less with CPU miner optimization and as the scratchpad grows, then a hard fork isn't necessary.  But that's just my unsolicited opinion.

BTW, I like the GUI and have been using it.  Going to play around with the HTML.

Great!
There will bi bugs, i'm sure - so i'm waiting for bug reports to fix it ASAP.
And there a lot of places where html need to be adjusted, since i'm not web developer, javascript is just a hobby for me.

Basically GPU miners currently have an advantage, but it's not such an extraordinarily large advantage (And this advantage will decrease over time) that it's not worth it to hard fork for this reason, right?
yES.
