701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BBR] Boolberry: Privacy and Security - Guaranteed[Bittrex/Poloniex]GPU Released on: April 15, 2016, 02:50:46 PM

If what you're asking for is the ability to create a secure offline wallet (by this I mean create a wallet on a computer that has never connected to the network or indeed the internet, send money to that wallet's address and at a later stage connect to the network to retrieve your funds) then this is a good suggestion. I can see how this would be useful to some users [...]

 Tongue

Simplewallet can run offline and generate wallet address have a look :

root@rootdgc:~/boolberry# ./simplewallet --generate-new-wallet 1 [...technical stuff...]

Thanks. Maybe the basic question is whether you are designing a coin for 20 people who know tech or for 20,000 who don't.

Tim should fix the PoS for $THC. I'm not sure why he ignores this project so much.

From reading his posts e.g.

...
If anyone is willing to update the wallet ...

Tim

the impression is that he is a supporter of Hemp and sponsored the original wallet, but evidently is not an actual coder or developer, nor am I, nor are most of the supporters of Hemp.

So what is it exactly people want Tim to do?

Should he hire another coder? My guess is he probably shelled out his own money for the original wallet since it isn't a premine coin. Should he be responsible for paying for all future development,? It seems a bit messed up, since he probably got no money from the premine, since there wasn't one, nor from the ico, since there wasn't one, nor from the crowdsale, for similar reasons.

But okay, I'm fine with that. If somebody can get him to continue paying then okay. Otherwise either he or somebody else attached to the coin, like fartbags, could hold a fund wallet for donations to pay for a wallet upgrade.

and by the way, bitGOLD, bitUSD, bitEUR all work the same way

oh snap!

u just learned BitShares!

I'll respond to what you added to your post.

If that really is what "Bitshares" is about then it is intended to give inexperienced people the illusion of trading in cryptos, when, in effect, it is only letting others use the naivete of the inexperienced people to profit.

A lot of really sophisticated talk about financial shit on the Bitshares website I notice. I hope newcomers to crypto don't get sucked into scumbaggeries like that. People should not invest blindly, but specifically targeting naive people is worse.

[edit to add My criticism is about marketing this kind of derivative on an exchange like Poloniex, without marketing, nor even mentioning, the other side of the contract. Stability Shares does strike me as deceptive and most useful to clever scammers, but there will eventually be practical uses for almost any derivative a person could create.]
704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is happening (if anything) with BitCNY? on: April 15, 2016, 02:38:02 AM
Relax man,

1 bitCNY can always be redeemed for at least 1 CNY (in BitShares) on the DEX.

That's how the coin is programmed.  So if you can pick up bitCNY for less than sticker price, then you can make a profit selling it on the DEX

See. That wasn't so hard to learn now was it?

The point though is to try and keep the price of 1 bitCNY at 1 CNY?

So at 2700 CNY per bitcoin, $400 a btc, a person can spend 1 btc and buy, very roughly, 2700 bitCNY?

And if the price of btc doubles to 5400 CNY then the price of bitCNY, in btc, will drop 50%?

It looks like somebody figured out a way to use "assets" to con noobies.

1) A person buys 0.1 btc worth of bitCNY when btc is at 2700CNY or 400USD.

2) The price of bitcoin doubles to 5400CNY or 800USD.

3) The person's 0.1 btc investment is now worth roughly 0.05 btc, they have lost 50% of their bitcoin.

It's a shiny suit and tie scam to suck money from people who don't understand what they are buying.

"See. That wasn't so hard to learn now was it?"

An example of human mining http://www.neucoin.org/en/earn

It will be a tragedy if Huntercoin does not quickly become a human mineable coin but it will soon be a field crowded with new coins and if Huntercoin does not do it others are

(I do not own any of that coin but plan to buy some. I still have a lot of huntercoin, hoping it will adapt)

But Neucoin needs a central server to do all that. I don't want to game on a central server.

Uh, neucoin may be a scam  Shocked

HUC has honest devs who only have to look ahead a little bit

edit to add
So many brilliant coin ideas that nobody wants to develop.

Look at bithire, a brilliant project.
Neucoin likewise.
both scams?

The king of coins will be a genuinely human mineable coin with fair distribution (unlike neucoin). Huntercoin has everything needed. It just has to actually be a human mineable coin instead of a game coin.

I'm going to drop the issue and just wait for a coin to develop an authentic human mining process. I hope it will be Huntercoin, but whichever coin it is I will put what little money I have in it. Sorry to be pushy on the issue but it seems tragic that a coin like this with a great history and honest development cannot get past being a video game that isn't even playable for a lot of people

If the market tries to ensure that 1 bitcny = 1 CNY and i bitusd = 1 USD then the values of bitcny and bitusd will drop as bitcoin goes up, is that correct?

Right now you need about 400 usd or bitusd to buy one bitcoin or 2700 cny or bitcny.

If bitcoin doubles relative to those currencies then you will need 800 usd or 5400 cny?

So a bitusd or bitcny will be worth only 50% what it is worth now?

Sort of looks like somebody developed an "asset" to milk noobs, is that right, and the spikes are just signals that the cows are at the milking machine?

c) One of the biggest issues people have with a distribution like this could be solved by having a wallet assigned to each qualified person, and having the coins in the wallet unavailable for spending, but stakeable, with the interest spendable. So a person would get a wallet with, say, 1000 coins. The wallet would be in their name and not sellable, nor transferable, except on death. The holder of the wallet would have the interest available to spend but would never lose the blalance. If it were hacked, at most the interest could be stolen, the coins could not be stolen. The coins would always pertain to that person.

...

I do understand that volume is important. I have a small position in a coin which has virtually zero volume. I also think that the potential for buy orders is important.  Obviously, the price may rise based on a few buys (considering the lack of volume) but if no-one wants to buy unless the price is 20,000 below the current price, it's not so helpful.

In terms of volume, does it need to be based on news? For example does GAP need to have something positive happen for the price to rise?

You seem to be talking about the difference between news and publicity and public awareness..

1) Gapcoin produces "real news" even if it isn't covered by any news site, while 2) some other coins produce "not news" that is heavily pumped by press release sites trying to convince people it is news and 3) others yet (e.g. your coin perhaps) offer something that is highly valuable but is unknown and therefore not expensive yet.

Hi No-ice-please,

it's great you are posting your thoughts, and please continue to do so.

about being a fincancial playground for a select few - i may be misinterpreting it, but - this is not the case, i only play maybe for a couple of hours every other weekday. Domob the lead dev doesn't play, only tests. MM doesn't play much (he says).

Huntercoin was originally an experiment to "test the waters", as i didn't want to significantly invest in the project at the time.

All the points you make are valid -
for us, we are learning as we go along and working on the project in our spare time with very limited resources.

Hopefully we can work on improvements sooner rather than later Cheesy

regarding pacman, did you check out Motocoin?  this was a fun game/coin although it was eventually unplayable due to automated players.
by making huntercoin PvP (player vs player), you are competing against other human minds (albeit the game combat mechanics is due for some fixes).

it would be great to get 30 seconds blocks and probably not impossible.
Although the game is slow, when you are eventually in combat it's very tense.. especially when in combat with multiple hunters (in one place or in different parts of the map.

There are a few things that distinguish Huntercoin from other similar coins, and one of them is the history of the people who are developing it. I never checked out Motocoin, that I remember, and generally would not be interested in a coin that started now as  a game. Huntercoin started as a specific game and basically still is that game, but is primed to develop further.

Regarding "pacman" specifically, I don't think I have actually played it in at least 30 years, and am not interested in playing it. I mentioned it as an example of something that could be used to allow real human mining in a coin. which would let almost any human interact with a computer intelligently and generate coins that could be converted to other things. Would bots overwhelm a pacman style game? I'm not a developer so that's not my concern. My guess is that it would be possible to put in some checks that prevented automated programs from mining those coins.

As a simple matter of how successful the coin would be using different games, there really is little question that the coin, using the current game and playing model will not succeed.

In other words something has to change.

The "financial playground" aspect you are misinterpreting a bit. There are a lot of ways people feather their own beds and every action a person takes is ultimately for their own benefit, i.e., it leads to some benefit for themself according to how they learned. The criticism is more that what you (plural devs) have created is both "exclusive" (it excludes a lot of people) and as an exclusive project it is not even something heading for success.

Not exactly, coinmarketcap not right shows the number of coins. We need another Block explorer.
459,313 X 50= 22965650

Sent that updated info to Coinmarketcap.

So market cap right now is ~ 49 btc or us$ ~21,000 or ~22,965,650 BELA

Still very low, all things considered.

Marketcap very low at poleniex

Extremely low. https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bellacoin/ The coin was never marketed well, but as coin investors become sharper, coins like this will pick up.

Right now a person buying it up to 310 satoshis (0.00000310 btc) would spend 3.96 btc and get 1.3 million coins, almost 25% of all the Bellacoins that exist.  Shocked If I had that spare money I would buy.

News? IT'S HAPPENING!

what are the news that such a course is raging? Shocked

Probably nothing except someone bought literally ALL THE COINS and now will try to pump it in order to dump it. Well if he manages to break the world record with his effort no problem with me.

According to Poloniex, the 24 hour volume is currently 33 BTC.  So this is not one of these alt-coins that rises 200% on volume of 1.5 BTC.

So, as was asked earlier, is there any news or rumours of news? AIUI, most spikes that have volume derive from some kind of news whether legitimate or not.

Any ideas? Thanks.

More accurate to say that normally volume indicates that a move has some technical significance. People who study charts, technical analysts, consider volume very important.

The problem with cryptocurrencies is that
1) You never know what volume is real. Paying 0.x % fees a person may churn the volume as a marketing ploy. Buy and sell ridiculous amounts since some traders sort lists like CoinMarketCap by volume and look for spikes in volume that indicate something. This isn't likely with gapcoin though.
2) Cryptos are still so small that a lot of people are financially capable of moving a market in a major way with little money. Maybe somebody noticed that Gapcoin was created on their birthday and their middle name is "gap" so they took it as a sign from heaven to sell their retirement fund and put it all in Gapcoin. You just don't know what significance the volume has since it could have been one person creating it, for reasons that may be "unnewsworthy".

However, the simple fact that Gapcoin is a higher quality mathcoin, likely to attract the interest of people with longer term focus, suggests that there is some more valid reason for the buying, even if we don't know what it is.

My guess would be another exchange buying up a supply in preparation to list it, but that is only a guess. Second possibility is just somebody who looked at market cap and depth, did some calculations, and decided they could take over the market, including buying new coins, at x price and would make a better profit on Gapcoin than on other coins.

Ultimately it still is an inexpensive coin. The original dev pops up every now and then, and probably will sometime in coming weeks or months. New people moving into crypto will tend to focus more on "productive algorithms" than people in past years did. Gapcoin has gone up a lot but still has better long term chances than many other coins.

The chess app is only for people to play on mobile phones but is there a way to try it on a regular computer?

This can be done with sufficient interest

Interest might follow creating such a game.

There are a lot of chess forums
http://www.chessforums.org/
http://www.ecforum.org.uk/
https://www.chess.com/forum/
and it seems like both chess and cryptocurrencies attract math oriented people, so  there is a possibility of sparking wide interest.

I haven't played the android game (because my phone doesn't do "apps") and I'm not clear how it works.

If a person "wins" some Bellacoin, then it is like a faucet?

If so it would be a great step up from the current faucets, but obviously would not be sustainable forever?

thank you so so much, is it too expensive to move the player? wiped out? you mean i can lose my character? how?
what about the character colors? any advantages on each? a guide if it is possible or a wiki?

Most people will not lose but that is one issue we were discussing earlier on this thread.

There are a lot of simple instructions at the website.

Go to http://huntercoin.org/information/how-to-mine/human/ and the Mithril client starts with a tutorial that most people will understand and follow easily (I have a poor ability to understand that kind of thing but it is good for most people). I think it costs 0.1 to move a player. Not sure

MindCoin itself has the backing / support of around 3 developers but at the moment, just one lead main. One of the other main development leader 's on the team in simple terms - passed away. At the time (back in january) i felt that if a blog post or news was put out about this then it'll just look like a cry for help or excuse, since MindCoin was only 2 weeks after it's release. Since then, ive been working with a couple of other contacts in building on the stability of MindCoins network as well as dealing with rebranding (removal of the old brain type logo).

Still at it here in April and with zero budget, the market cap and adoption is slowly getting there.

I have a few things in the pipeline for MindCoin and these will be coming in the next few weeks as whats needed is an easier access / explainer detail for external charities and sources as the who 'crypto scene' is a little confusing for the general population, simply explaining what MindCoin is to a new sponsor is always an uphill struggle.

Theres things that can be done for MindCoin, if your a developer or have the skills needed to achieve these things feel free to inbox if your looking to assist and i can arrange the budget to put things into action  Wink

Most people do not know how to code / develop.

But things like contacting groups who might partner with the coin, NAMI comes to mind in the U.S., or websites that might cooperate or work with the coin, could be done by anybody with good language skills. The website, and the pages at http://www.mind.org.uk/get-involved/ are very well done.

It should be made clear start to finish that the coin is not premined etc so isn't going to be "hiring" workers, but if a person starts some project that makes the coin more useful then they will get financial benefit if they own the coins, sort of like a self employment. The price of the coin goes up when it has real world uses, and that benefits those who support the coin.
