701  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We shall separate commercial exchanges from investment exchanges on: June 15, 2023, 05:55:33 AM
This is far from a new idea, it's coming from the banking sector, and I believe it should suit cryptos exchanges just fine. Because there are 2 kinds of exchange.

It's good to define activities and separate entities based on the services they provide. It becomes easier for the regulators to regulate and protect the interest of the consumer.

Quote
A normal exchange is a company which exchanges fiat currency with cryptocurrency, and vice-versa, taking a small fee in the process. And that's it. Nothing else. I believe these exchanges hardly need to be regulated, because most often they don't store any funds. You make a deal with them, and when it's over, the customer relation is over, everything's terminated.

Well, if these kinds of exchanges are not regulated, then the majority of the black money translations will take place here. In the cryptocurrency world, it's a big risk. Many governments have already raised their voices against money laundering risks. Non-regulation will just make it worse and more uncontrollable. If regulation is under consideration, both kind of exchanges need to be regulated.

702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nft buy and sell exchange? on: June 14, 2023, 05:05:19 PM
Im wondering if there is a platform or someone already coding a platform for nft where there is an actual buy and sell. We all know that nft is an auction style market. Where actual value will depend once only it got sold. Though there are terms called floors to represent the current value but can be change suddenly when there are some who actually sweeping the nfts. You think an exchange for nft would be feasible or the process would be stay as is?

Im just asking whats your thought since there are lots of saturated nft projects that stays on wallets and dont have real value.

I am not sure about auction facility. But in Opensea you can make an offer to the NFT owner. Regardless of the price they are listed in, you can make your own offer. So that's a good start if you are looking to get into NFT market.

Now, I would like to warn you that NFT is a dead game. It has already died a painful death. So if you are looking to invest, choose bitcoin or ETH. Don't waste your money in NFT.
703  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We the Bitcoin Enthusiasts, How can we Safequard our Holdings in Turbulent Times on: June 14, 2023, 03:24:48 PM
How might the closure of a prominent cryptocurrency exchange like Binance affect investors confidence in the broader crypto market, and what steps do you think enthusiasts can take to safeguard their investments in such situations? Please share tips.

I'm thinking about closing my key positions for the time being.

No one can be 100% secure to be honest. But in order to increase the chance of not loosing your hard earned bitcoins, you can follow the below steps.

1. Use cold storage to store your coins. There are multiple options available in the market.
2. If the above is not possible, use wallets with 2FA authentication. Which means any transaction will require a separate authentication before moving out of the wallet.
3. Avoid keeping your bitcoin in any exchanges

This will increase your chance of not getting hacked.
704  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin Be Badly Hurt if Binance Goes Down? on: June 14, 2023, 05:28:41 AM
I really am no fan of Binance because I found their KYC annoying. What is not in doubt is that CZ is supposedly one of the most credible faces of crypto. How much harm do you think a Binance implosion would cause Bitcoin? Is the US a big threat to the coin market?

https://www.cryptoinfowatch.com/a-former-sec-official-said-the-binance-ceo-and-others-may-face-criminal-charges-soon/

If Binance goes down, the crypto market will have a huge impact, temporarily. As per coinmarketcap, Binance is the most used centralized crypto exchange at this moment with a trading volume of 7 billion + USD. Its closest competitor Coinbase has a volume of 826 million as per CMC. So you can understand how much trading volume will be impacted. The crypto market won't be able to avoid the impact.

However, the good part is that the impact will be temporary and the crypto market will be back on its feet sooner than later. The way the US is moving, multiple other countries will seize the opportunity to build a crypto hub. This shift is necessary for the better future of crypto.
705  Economy / Economics / Rent or buy real estate - let's have a debate on: June 13, 2023, 05:48:46 PM
I have been debating about it with couple of my colleagues whether stay on rent or buy a property.

Let's assume, you are well capable enough to buy a new property through bank loan. Your income supports the mortgage payment so banks are willing to lend you money.

What will be the best route to take? Buy the property or stay in a rented place?

The usual appreciation rate of your property value is around 10% owing to the development work that are ongoing. For rented property, your rent increases by 15% every year.

What's the better option for you and why?
706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The US just banned altcoin trading. on: June 13, 2023, 03:11:58 PM
The US just banned altcoin trading ,This is not good news for cryptocurrencies at all.

From the beginning of 2022, the collapse of the cryptocurrency market began. In view of which btc lost its highest price and fell to 16 thousand dollars. Ethereum also touched 30% of its peak price. And most of the tokens in the cryptocurrency market eventually fell in price.

Cryptocurrency prices improved slightly around April-May 2023, but people remained somewhat skeptical about the market.
In the meantime, the US has banned altcoin trading. Which bodes ominously for the future of cryptocurrency.

Is the future of cryptocurrency in jeopardy?

US is not the world and US alone cannot change the fate of cryptos. Cryptocurrencies are decentralised for a reason and one nation alone cannot beat the shit out of it. I am happy that US has started a war against cryptos. This will force multiple crypto related countries out of US to some other crypto friendly countries.

So let US do whatever they want. There will always be countries like Singapore or El-Salvador to welcome these companies.
707  Economy / Economics / Re: Wells Fargo mortgage staff brace for layoffs as U.S. loan volumes collapse on: June 12, 2023, 04:30:07 PM
Warren Buffet is a smart old man and has a huge experience in the financial world. So he just sold out his Wella Fargo portfolio and entered into Citi group which holds a much diverse loan book. Even though the market cap of Well Fargo is bigger than Citi, it has diversified it's risks better.

Nonetheless, the world is going into a recession for sure. The housing market will see a huge decline worldwide. Many other mortgage based companies have started firing their workforce. Better.com has done it again. Don't know what's waiting for us in 2024.
708  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New investigation on Satoshi Nakamoto & the Origins of Bitcoin on: June 12, 2023, 02:29:04 PM
I have carried out a deep dive through proper research methodology to dig out new evidence for drafting a profile of Satoshi Nakamoto and for clarifying the origins of Bitcoin. I summarized my findings of the accompanying ebook in a 5-part series of videos, which has been available on YouTube. I promise this approach is facts-driven, unprecedented, and will radically reshape your picture of how Bitcoin came alive, and who is Satoshi Nakamoto.
Feedback highly appreciated.

All the detail and sources are available at https://www.satoshinakamoto.be, and you will understand why it filed under a ".be" TLD.

Not sure why some people do not understand the meaning to privacy. If Satoshi Nakamoto has chosen to stay anonymous there must be a good reason for him to do so. He is the creator bitcoin and I feel obliged to respect his decision.

Can we not come to a common ground and just stop researching about his identity? What good it would do to the crypto market in any way? But if his identity is revealed, he will probably spend the rest of his life behind the bars.
709  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bhutan's Secret Crypto Investments: A Game-Changing Strategy for Small Nations? on: June 12, 2023, 05:50:34 AM
It's already been a couple of months, Bhutan has started doing this. If you see the past trends, you will see multiple small nations have shown interest in cryptocurrency and changed their policies to welcome it. I have been to Bhutan once in my life when I was in school and I candidly remember the country and their hospitality. But the fact is that Bhutan has a very small landmass. So they can't build a huge heavy engineering project which can provide employment to their citizens. So they are trying to invest in such projects which don't need a huge amount of land. That's where cryptocurrency mining fits the bill. Also Bhutan has access to cheap electricity due to the hydropower projects they have in their country.

I would say it's the right move towards a better future. Even though Bhutan has officially moved to democracy, its King is the most influential person. But they just need to stay out of China's influence for long term growth.
710  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 3068 Trades Won and only 1 Trade Lost on: June 09, 2023, 06:34:17 PM
Hi on the Bingx copytrading platform there is a trader with 3068 trades won and only 1 trade lost. He only trades long and with only x2 leverage.

Does anyone know what strategy he uses and why he only trades long and how he gets those results? I understand he uses a bot?

From the available information, it is not possible to tell whether the trader uses a bot or not. It could be very much possible. It could be sheer luck or extreme precision. The only thing I can say is that the trader uses very low leverage which makes his trades more economically effective and profitable. I see some people calling it fishy but I do not find it fishy at all. In the real-world stock market, I have seen multiple traders making money with such precision without subscribing to any signal services. So such kind of result is actually possible. This doesn't prove that the trader is doing something wrong or fishy.

Or it could be one of the platform-owned accounts. Some platform owner uses accounts with ramped-up stats to make their copy trading services more popular among the users. It could be one of them.
711  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cautionary campaign about Bitcoin on: June 09, 2023, 05:38:43 PM
If everything related to cryptocurrency is banned in your country and if you are still holding some cryptos, you are already standing against the law. Ensure you so not speak about it in public domain.

Banking and financial services companies will always try to paint a negative picture of cryptocurrency in front of the general public. I have faced it in my country as well when we did not have a clear picture of the regulatory framework. But thankfully it is not fully banned in my country. So keep holding your bitcoin but in silence.
712  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which platform is safe to store Bitcoin and can’t be hacked ? on: June 09, 2023, 12:22:13 PM
Can't be hacked? Lol! I want to know as well.

This is a myth and there is nothing in the world that cannot be hacked. Ideally hardware wallets are supposed to be secured and offers more security than any other third party online wallet provider. But nothing can be 100% secured to be honest.

Try to keep your wallet disconnect from the internet. That will make it more secure and that's how big exchanges store their currencies.
713  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Apple Vision Pro and its Implication in Online Gambling on: June 08, 2023, 05:39:24 PM

I wonder what this means for the gambling industry, the gambling experience, and gambling addiction. I would like us to discuss this topic.

This is a stupidly overpriced product. But it may sell well due to Apple's branding. But I don't see any impact on the gambling industry unless someone wants to experience casino in metaverse. Usually seasoned gamblers will not want to experience this, rather they would like to focus on the game to make money.

For some newbie gamblers, who had never experienced casino, they might want to try this just to experience it. At the end of the day, entire metaverse concept is rubbish and it will eventually die down.
714  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cz or the Sec who would you support? on: June 08, 2023, 04:16:52 PM
With the current issue in the crypto world between Cz (Changpeng Zhao) Ceo of binance and the Sec, I support Cz with reasons that binance has done alot to earn it's communities trust, helping millions of users in the crypto ecosystem, and has more durable marketing strategy whereas the Sec is government driven and wants to control everybody.
It's unfair that the sec is suppressing a private cooperation that's helping to grow & build the crypto world, binance is helping everybody including crypto whales and newbies and a fight against binance is against the world.
What's your say on this?

As a part of the crypto ecosystem, I will definitely support Binance as it plays a huge role in building this entire ecosystem. It's one of the most trusted exchanges in the entire world. SEC is unfortunately trying to attack them so that they can make this ecosystem fall.

As a government organisation, SEC will speak the language the government which tries to control everything. Unfortunately, controlling crypto ecosystem is out of their capacity. Hence they are targeting the exchanges which acts as bridges between the mainstream economy and cryptocurrency.
715  Economy / Economics / Re: 3x inflation in my life time (Im 30) does bitcoin fix this? on: June 08, 2023, 01:08:48 PM
A pizza now cost a full days wages when I first started working.  We need to hang the politicians and central bankers.

Min wage was $5.50 when I started it is $16.50 now.

In 15 years we have inflated 3x.

In another 15 years a pizza will cost $100.

how does bitcoin fix this?

inb4 some idiot mentions the bitcoin pizza and does not realize the price of that pizza still went up as well.

Bitcoin can't fix inflation because bitcoin is not built to do so. Bitcoin is built to become an internet based currency system, not to fix inflation or economy related issues.

Economy usually resets itself when it goes beyond control. A great reset is incoming and buy as much gold and bitcoin as you can to save yourself.
716  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will China takeover as the leader in blockchain and start the new bull market? on: June 08, 2023, 06:00:46 AM
First of all, NFT is not cryptocurrency. It's just a very simple use case of blockchain and will die down sooner than you expect.

Secondly, the idea of cryptocurrency goes directly against the ideology of Communist party of China. So I don't see China taking over as a crypto leader anytime in the future. However, countries like Singapore can become the powerhouse of cryptocurrency business and then Dubai can take over the 2nd spot. Not China.
717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do meme coins have a future? on: June 07, 2023, 03:57:03 PM
Crypto market is at its nascent stage. It's just 12-13 years old. So what you are seeing now, is actually the early phase of gold rush without any regulations in place. That won't last long. So all meme coins that you see today, will surely disappear.

My suggestion is that, if you want to gamble, invest in memecoins and get out at the right time. But always keep bitcoin and ETH in your portfolio. Memecoins do not have a future. It's just a hype and gold rush. They won't win the test of time.
718  Economy / Economics / Re: To Hodl or Lend: What is your take? on: June 07, 2023, 03:07:23 PM
No lending! Only HODL!

I will never lend my hard earned bitcoins to some unknown faces. Bitcoin lending is a very risky business and I have lost a significant amount of money from a platform called BTCJAM if you remember it.

I will only lend bitcoin if it has securities like banking system. Like credit score checking, having some collateral, address and ID verification and so on. Otherwise it's a very easy job for scammers to run away with my money. I will just rather hold it.
719  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is There A Bitcoin Exchange That Pays Most of Fees for You? on: June 07, 2023, 02:44:52 PM
Title says it all. Is there a bitcoin exchange that pays most of fees for you? For example, I want to send Bitcoin to my Electrum wallet but others want to withdraw too. So like my transaction is bundled with many other people's transactions. Basically, people willing to pay higher fees help to substantiate the poor man's low fee in terms of how quickly one wants receive Bitcoin. I am willing to wait even 2 days before I receive Bitcoin. Due to high on-chain fees, I cannot manage fees. Many places online do not recognize the Bitcoin lightning network as of this time of posting. FaucetPay does not support lightning network. Also no high minimum withdrawal. FreeBitcoIn, Binance and CEX are good but they do not support the lightning network.

Muun credits you instantly but wants you to always pay fee more than incoming balance. High fees must be fixed soon.

Lol! No! No such exchanges are available to do charity. They won't club the transactions together either. Lightening network works on a similar concept so you may want to find some exchanges that supports lightening network. This way you can keep your transaction fees at an optimum low level. What you are asking, is not available.
720  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: P2P Scams : Where does the government stand on: June 07, 2023, 11:12:45 AM
It really depends on the nature of the scam. In P2P trading, fiat is usually involved. So regardless of whether crypto is involved or not, it can be taken up by the court of law. Even in my country, crypto is not recognised in any way legally. Still we often face bank freeze issues and it can be taken up with legal enforcement team.

Can op please be specific what kind of scam you are referring to?
