Perhaprs your too old GPU is not supported by your ccminer version or Cuda ?

Is there a version of ccminer that supports older gpu's and has lyra2z algo or any gpu miner that supports older cards and has lyra2z algo?

Currently no. Lyra2z is being phased out in a month anyway.

Currently 4 x GTX 1080 TI will net you around 1.4 XZC a day only.

Just curious, wasn't there an plan to get on one of the exchange local to the main dev (I think Indonesian), very soon? How's that coming?

The Indonesian one hopefully within the next few weeks Cheesy

The exchange isn't local to the main dev. That's a separate effort. Will announce when it is time.

It's good to see the price down and I have just bought some coins for a while .
How long does it take to release MTP algo ? I have been known that i will be released in this month. Is there any change for official MTP launching?

Final MTP is running on testnet already. Already set to go live on block 47,500.

Not a potential competition Cheesy Definite competition. Just making sure we tidy up a few things.

I'm not sure which other coins with original development are delivering though but we are working furiously on the wallet updates. Will post updates as soon as we get them.

Well you can't factor in the mobo and ram because you need that for GPU mining anyway although you can divide it with the GPUs you put on that mobo. However you can mine with your CPU and GPU at the same time with that same mobo as well.

According to djm34's initial tests the CPU/GPU ratio based on hashrate is not that far but that remains to be seen once optimized miners are developed. Currently it's about 1:3 (assuming an 8 core CPU) so if you look on a cost standpoint it might be similar which would be ideal but remains to be seen. Cheesy Gotta step into the unknown!

Can't find the Windows CUP miner by Wolf0?
Does any one know how to mine Zcoin using CPU, the official guide seems to be broken? Any recent youtube video?

CPU Miner by aizensou but compiled by Wolf0

There's another CPUminer https://github.com/JayDDee/cpuminer-opt

This has lyra2z support!
709  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Zcoin (XZC) - Implementing Zerocoin technology for financial privacy on: June 23, 2017, 12:55:13 AM
Announcements should not be made privately from developers.

Either say nothing or go public with it through the appropriate channels. Anything else raises suspicions of insider trading, preferential treatment and/or corruption.
Lol this is stupid allegation the only reason he says that is because literally everyone who joins the slack group keeps asking it. I don't even get how reuben can keep his chill it's annoying AF

Yes I die a little inside everytime.

Is there any information/ suggestions as to what kind of hardware and connection would be required to run a node?
I think this coin definitely has promise and would consider the option as long as it wasn't too cost prohibitive.
Would love to hear recommendations for setting up a node whenever that information is available.

A Znode or a normal node?

A normal node would only require the cheapest vps u can find. A znode we would recommend something slightly beefier but we'll double check as it depends on the Zerocoin spend tx. Any decent cpu should do.

Connection is normal. Similar to what u need for a bitcoin node.

maybe a variable number would be in order

To have variable numbers is not workable. Just imagine nodes suddenly not having enough for stake and dropping in and out of 'znode' status.
711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Zcoin (XZC) - Implementing Zerocoin technology for financial privacy on: June 20, 2017, 10:21:02 AM
zcoinofficial, my latest post regarding znodes was left unanswered, so I repeat a main part of it.

My idea is to ignore the price of Zcoin and think of it in terms of percent of total coin supply that community finds fair enough to reserve in Znodes. Will it be 5%, 10%, 50%... And how many nodes we need for quality decentralization? 100, 1000, 5000?
For example, according to coinmarketcap there are 2,310,089 Zcoins, if 10% will be reserved and only 100 nodes are required it makes 2310089*0.1/100 = 2310 Zcoins should be hold by single node.

Number of nodes required for decentralization is also a function of how many users of Zcoin there which is hard to determine is but I guess if we do it as Bitcoin as a benchmark and relative market cap that still requires price.

Otherwise we will be plucking figures out of thin air to determine the number of nodes required.

Your suggestion has some merit and we will consider it however given that we are still a ways off, we are in no hurry to determine this figure just yet. Releasing the figure itself creates more speculations which also alters the situation to something we already committed to. Of course once launch has happened we may not have control of this but at the very least we want to get the balance as right as we can.
712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Zcoin (XZC) - Implementing Zerocoin technology for financial privacy on: June 20, 2017, 09:11:11 AM
MTP won't fundamentally change Zcoin's market price. On Bittrex there's currently an excess of sell orders over buy orders of Zcoin of $5 million USD, unless I'm reading it wrong, in which case tell me. Maybe that's partly because miners leave it on the market and don't focus on it and just leave it sitting there, whereas buyers are in and out quickly. Still, that's gotta worry other people besides me.

The sooner we get zcoin incentivised nodes going the better. 500 or 1000 coin stake required. maybe 500 to avoid making smaller investors feel bad. When can you do this Zcoin team?

Well if I had to hazard a guess, the upcoming MTP release has already changed Zcoin's market price. We have doubled since a short while ago? But who knows, it's crypto land where ICOs with only a smattering of untested code can raise millions of dollars in a couple of hours.

As for Znodes, our incentivized nodes scheme, this is done right after our wallet optimizations. As to how long, within a few months (including the wallet core upgrade and optimizations) but I don't want to set any hard deadlines. It depends how far we want to implement the Znode scheme. Do we just do the incentivized node structure first without its implementation of its segregated Zerocoin processing or delay it a bit to get the Zerocoin processing in as well.

And for the many people asking on Znode coins required? I'll do a copy paste from our Slack convo:

Quote
The team doesn't know yet either. We won't determine the figure until it's closer to launch.
Why? Not for any secret reason.
But what if zcoin was somehow worth 1000 dollars
Then even if we set a figure now
It won't be realistic anymore
Znode launch is some months away as per our roadmap
So pointless to set it now, once we are clear on a release date and closer to launch
Then we can set a figure. Orr if zcoin price crash then too low a figure would be also not good
For example if zcoin was worth 0.50 back to my entry , then would u want the cost for a zcoin node to be only 1000 xzc or 500 USD ? No right lol
So again, we don't have any figure because right now we want to work out the tech then we can determine the economics. It's much easier dev than mtp and should be a lot faster
But we will see Smiley

zcash
zcoin
zclassic
zencash

any more out there? this is getting a bit confusing!

And only two of those with original development.

i think i missed one, Zero (ZER). is that right?

yes....and?
zero coin was the original I believe, but zcoin is the first actual implementation of it ?

All these coins their main feature is the privacy aspect.

Zclassic, Zencash and Zero are all forks of Zcash and use the same privacy scheme which is the Zerocash protocol that uses zk-SNARKs.
All of these coins also use Equihash. The same mining algorithm as Zcash.
Therefore their core foundations are the same.

Zcoin is not a fork (okay maybe a Bitcoin fork) but is built off the Zerocoin protocol that uses completely different cryptographic principles (RSA accumulators).
Zcoin doesn't use Equihash but uses Lyra2z and soon, MTP which is meant to be an improvement of Equihash (same authors).
We're trying to do something different here which has its own set of pros and cons and actually we launched slightly earlier than Zcash.

Hope I'm not asking this in the wrong forum.  I was playing with proxy settings on zcoin-qt version 0p8p7p8.  Apparently I really fubar-ed the settings.  zcoin-qt crashed and now will not run at all.  When I try to restart, it gives two odd error messages and shuts down.  I cannot get to the settings tab to change the bogus proxy settings.  Tried extracting the .exe only, from zip.  No joy.  Same error messages, same crash.  Do there exist configuration files somewhere, that hold proxy tab settings?  Something I can edit with a text editor?

First error message:
zcoin = Error
Incorrect or no genesis block found.  Wrong datadir for network?
[OK?]

Second error message:
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\coinhome\Zcoin\zcoin-qt.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
[OK?]

See if you can clear your settings here:

how bout just the logo for hats as well ?

Yup we will release the assets for the logos as well so anyone can come up with their own Zcoin stuff Cheesy

So nice of you to come and post here now that you're not an investor in the coin. Hilarious.

On the flip side, hopefully the MTP testing has begun and is proceeding as desired (no major issues)?

No major issues on MTP. Miner development is a bit slower than we expected because djm34 is currently relocating his home but all soon will become clear Cheesy Our devs are now working on those experiencing the sync issues as we think it's critical we iron these out.

As for those claiming that the dev is just a 'Bitcoin clone', try think why it has taken so long for anyone else to implement the Zerocoin protocol and try to code something from purely an academic paper (MTP). We have many coins eager to implement the Zerocoin technology and we understand that there are attempts to code independent implementations of it (which we applaud since it only serves to make the tech stronger), we remain currently the only original implementation of it. We aren't resting on our laurels however and are eager to improve our Zerocoin implementation which we will see over the coming months.

Why are you making an announcement now that you're making an announcement in roughly a week's time?

Reminds me of my last job where we had meetings to discuss future meetings, drove me nuts.

Reason is pretty simple.

If we announce the news now, media no longer wants to pick it up because it's 'old news' and we don't get the coverage we want. This was confirmed from our consultation with our newly appointed PR company.

At the same time, we don't want investors to think that we are simply teasing. If we release the news out of no where, there will be accusations of 'insider' trading but frankly, anyone who follows this coin in BCT, Slack, Telegram or even Twitter would know what this announcement would be. Our github commits are descriptive. We are excited and we know that many people have been hounding us DAILY for news updates so the announcement is more to say 'hang on guys, there will be an announcement and this is the timeframe to expect it in' so please don't chase Cheesy. But at the end of the day, investing is your own business decision and we are all in it for the long term. The fact that the founder's wallets all remain relatively untouched despite massive profits is a strong testament to that.

The announcement is for the benefit of the people who have been faithfully following and patiently waiting for us all these months.

Want a Zcoin t-shirt?

We will be releasing the source files soon so that anyone can print and proudly sport their own Cheesy

We will be making an announcement in roughly a week's time Smiley

Anyway you can always follow our github (and its various branches) to see what we are working on.

Thank you for the update. Looking forward to the news. Exciting times to be a part of Zcoin.  Cheesy

Thank you for your patience. We know we have a lot to work on so hang in tight Cheesy <3
