721  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who else is waiting for the next buying opportunity ? on: September 17, 2014, 05:35:29 PM
Anything below 10K per coin is a buying opportunity.

Why was $1100+ a good buying opportunity when you could buy at $450 now? And maybe $3xx within a few weeks? Thinking this way, and thus not timing entry, cripples your buying power and leaves you second guessing your strategy the whole time you are in the red. 2014 has been brutal for newcomers.
722  Economy / Speculation / Re: We leave 500. Target 200. Trade recommendation. on: September 17, 2014, 05:31:33 PM
after 6 months + of bear market surely the weak hands have all been shook out?

Now it seems like shorters just attacking despite positive developments.

We can have positive developments and infrastructure investment for a long time and continue to be in a bear market. These things are not necessarily directly related, nor do they occur in a vacuum. The relationship between BTCUSD and the infrastructure of the BTC economy is not immediately clear. People can cite things like Metcalfe's law, but it is not clear that user adoption is (at all) happening to the extent that justifies a valuation on that basis.
723  Economy / Speculation / Re: you guys seeing this.... on: September 17, 2014, 05:23:36 PM
Do you think we will go up in 10 years? thats all that matters.

Maybe, maybe not. 10 years is a long time, particularly if you don't have significant capital and your capital could be better invested elsewhere in the meantime. I sold some of my bitcoin position a couple months ago and put it into some momentum stocks. Did very well. Now waiting for a good long entry back into bitcoin, but it's very ugly right now. I have no interest buying this level. I have bids in the $300s.
724  Economy / Speculation / Re: Ryans' log on: September 17, 2014, 05:20:40 PM
The moves seem rather muted as we continue to grind down. Are we eventually expecting a plunge down similar to August 10th? I can't help but feel that if we keep on this way without gathering any bullish momentum, that we could see sub-400 in a hurry.
725  Economy / Speculation / Re: I need to retire already on: September 17, 2014, 05:14:55 PM
OK guys and gals, I've 80 bitcoins (did have 410, but sold most to buy a house last September. Bad timing or what!)
Anyhoo, I'm sick of work and figure if bitcoins get to $15,000 I can retire.
When do you reckon that will happen?

Congrats on the house purchase. Hopefully you did your due diligence and got a damn good deal. I wouldn't start planning on retirement with those bitcoins just yet. I am a long term bull, but that's still not set in stone.
726  Economy / Speculation / Re: One of the worst investments of the year on: September 17, 2014, 05:13:13 PM
It's funny.... bet long on the S&P this year and you are swimming in gains. Betting long on BTC this year has been nothing but heartbreak.
727  Economy / Speculation / Re: you guys seeing this.... on: September 17, 2014, 05:11:11 PM
We have just reached 460$, I don't know your timezone but in my opinion we are going down in few hours.

Looks like we are heading down indeed. This is ugly. No buyers are showing up. Just slowly grinding down. If it keeps on like this, eventually the dam will break and we will likely visit $340 I think.

729  Economy / Speculation / Re: This Bitfinex Credit Bubble cannot end well on: August 12, 2014, 07:50:46 AM
Bitfinex give us a lot of nice numbers to work with. The rest of the exchanges don't and it is hard to make a good guess.

That's my main trouble with putting too much into Bitfinex's numbers. I don't see them as a driver of this market at all. They follow China to the tee pretty much, so I'd be much more interested to see numbers on Okcoin and BitVC/Huobi. Bitfinex calls may make us wick down, but I doubt they would drive the rest of the market down.
730  Economy / Speculation / Re: sideways for so long now.... on: August 12, 2014, 07:43:37 AM
No longer sideway. We are on the down trend right now.

Litecoin and NXT dropped more than 20% alone today. I would be worry if I am holding a lot of bitcoin.

I'd be more worried to be holding litecoin. It's been a rough road for LTC bagholders -- my heart goes out to you guys. BTC might dive to 500 or 450 and back, but we're going to the moon........... someday........
731  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any Legit Sites To Earn Free Bitcoins on: August 12, 2014, 07:41:45 AM
Hi friends iam new to this bitcoin world iam attracted to it because as all know.... Grin Please give me the legit list of sites were we can earn free bitcoins i have heard landofbitcoin is legit....?

The days of free bitcoins are just about over. Faucets are a waste of time now, and giveaways are scarce. People have realized the great value of their BTC! If you want in, I'd roll whatever fiat you can into it. Sell stuff to buy BTC. Sell your services online (online freelancing, writing, coding, etc). You can also sell your signature space on the forum -- though as a newbie, it's worth very little.
732  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar on: August 12, 2014, 07:39:34 AM
I feel dumb asking this, but does anyone know how to search and display transactions in the ledger? I can search addresses and see their balance, but how do I search and link to a specific transaction?

Huh
733  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Invest into Stellar on: August 12, 2014, 07:38:00 AM
Stellar is definitely going to be an interesting story. I'd try to wait for a dip if you are gonna buy in.

What would you call this last move? It was 80k/BTC yesterday, and trading near 200k/BTC today. THAT's a dip. Tongue Some nice volatility if you managed to play it right!
734  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: what exchange do u use? on: August 12, 2014, 07:32:08 AM
i use allcoin for new coins but i trade at poloniex and  bittrex.

Any reason in particular to use Allcoin? I would think liquidity would be pretty low. Are they running any promotions to gather traders? I stick with Mintpal and Poloniex. Although I did jump onto Justcoin to trade some Stellar.
735  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 12, 2014, 07:29:28 AM
Buying a little bit to lower average.

Wondering why people expect btc to rise to usd10k? for what reason they believe in this?

Well, the exponential growth trend (though that is lagging heavily to the downside now)..... Metcalfe's law (although the accuracy of that theory is up for debate)..... the storage of value and value transfer capabilities of BTC......
736  Economy / Speculation / Re: today's price drop related to OKcoin futures? on: August 12, 2014, 07:27:55 AM
A lot of factors are involved.

The recent IPO of Ethereum, the free give away of Steller and the general meltdown of all alt coins. It only take 1 whale from alt coin to create a massive sell off.

Have coins started moving out of that "exodus" address? I can't remember where I found that address.... I had been wondering if we might see some downward pressure when those coins started moving.

What is your greatest wish from childhood??

Mine has always been to have a good computer Cheesy

Well, I hope you've gotten your computer by now.....

When I was a kid, I wanted to be a professional basketball player. Haha, that one didn't last too long. Tongue
738  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best signature campaign for "member" rank? on: August 12, 2014, 07:22:14 AM
Primedice is great, 0.0006 per post, if you can post a lot you get a lot!

From I can see primedice has the biggest campaign here? Are they paying out regulary? and is it weekly or monthly?

The payments are monthly and they pay per post but probably this is the last month with the current rate.

Yeah, I guess he intends to switch to a flat monthly payout amount, to which you're qualified when you post a certain number of posts, I guess. but he hasn't decided on the exact rates, as far as I know! Does anyone know what those rates will look like?

I was browsing through his posts and the main thread and couldn't find anything about this. Did he say when this would go into effect? I actually prefer a flat monthly payout myself. Smiley
739  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 12, 2014, 07:18:20 AM
Bitcoin going down simply isn't good. No matter what excuse you guys come up with.

I think if we could push below 500, we'd have a nice oversold shakeout capable of rallying hard. These bottom fishing attempts almost feel like staving off the inevitable, but I could certainly be wrong....
740  Economy / Speculation / Re: today's price drop related to OKcoin futures? on: August 12, 2014, 06:48:46 AM
But futures are an indication that the market is maturing and that China is not in the rage against the Bitcoin mode.

That should make the price goes up, don't?

Aren't futures on the international platform? Not .cn? I think that's because -- similar to Huobi handling its leveraged market through Bitvc -- they want it separated from the mainland Chinese market. I think this is related.
