721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BTA] BATA | Barter on the Blockchain. The predecessor of trade tokens. POW/POS on: September 18, 2016, 04:39:03 AM
We have another developer working on the code updates for BTA who has successfully updated to 0.8.7.5 core. There is also a transition to the v2 of the Bitcoin protocol that needs to happen.  On current wallet (core 0.8.6.1) the transition code was disabled.

Before this version is released, testing of the coin transfer, mining and bitcoin v2 protocol transition will be done.

Next upgrade should start soon after the wallet up to date with core 0.10, inline with Litecoin.  This helps keeping the wallet up-to-date and easier to apply any updates that occur with Bitcoin or Litecoin.

Once complete we will be ready to implement the Hybrid wallet (POW / POS).

I have updated www.bata.io with some colour added to buttons, spacing fixed - cosmetic things. Also did some SEO work.

Good work DEV  aka pc888 this BTA coin  barter system is going to be HUGE I have a shop interested in the uk that may offer BTA users 10% discount for paying by BTA..

I can't take the credit for all the work as there has been development collaboration since launch, but thank you on behalf of everyone involved with BTA.

Anyone have issued trading on Bittrex?   Made a couple of trades to buy BTA and it went through and then placed a sell order for the amount and automatically sold it.  Only happened on BTA.  Sent a ticket to Bittrex but have not heard back.  Just wondering if it has happened to anyone else?

I have not experienced an issue such as that, but it could be a bot buying. I would be interested to hear what response you get from Bittrex or if anyone else has had the same issue.

Keep us posted. Thanks.

Interesting reading regarding https://www.irta.com/ & http://www.bartercard.com.au/  dealings:

http://www.dennis.co.nz/the-barter-series/

There is serious money to be made in the Barter industry and the time is coming to get serious.

I have been in contact with a number of developers who are interested in contributing with the development team of Bata.

So far we have identified some updates required for the current BTA source code which will be undertaken soon. The POW/POS Hybrid wallet / client is being looked into as well - so that the transition from blockchains does not catch anyone by surprise and will give us time to get all exchanges operating on the correct wallet before the Barter Platform is released.

So far BTA is the key element to profits with the exchange as we will not be creating another payment method.

Those who have supported BTA since day one and any new holders of BTA will be continually bear the fruits of trade. The Barter platform will have its own income which I do think a percentage should be set aside for future development, promotion etc.

An E-Book worth taking at look at:

PC888- Glad to see you back posting! What level of funding are you looking at for the Barter System?

Initial research into platforms I have found a suitable choice and obtained price quote for the barter platform:

Example quote:

Standard Service Setup Fee US$ 500

One time Standard Software Operating Fee
This fee is a combination of the following:

a)  Minimum fee
b)  % of trade volume

Monthly fees will be higher of a and b.

By way of clarification, software provider will charge 1US$ for transaction of US$ 100.

a)US$ 350 Monthly
b)1% Monthly

Fees include following features,

-          Market place with BTA branding

-          Administration section

-          Mobile friendly marketplace

-          iOS App with BTA branding

-          Android App with BTA branding

-          SMS notification (SMS gateway charges will be paid by client)

-          Phone posting (IVR charges will be paid by client)

This quote I have provided has yet to be negotiated to whether we can strike up a deal.

The software would be customized for use of BTA replacing a trade token.

I am not saying that this is the final choice for a Barter platform, but just an example of what pricing would be.

On top of this there are advertising costs for initial campaign. Ongoing advertising costs will come out of fees generated by the platform.

Will this platform be able to keep the anonymity of the participates if Tor or i2P is used?  Does this platform support Tor/i2p as there are exchanges that reject these connections.

This may be a market under-served at the moment.  Not another Silk Road, but a barter system with anonymity build into the platform for those who wish to use it, for legitimate reasons of course!

Good question, yes I was wanting to explore that idea.

I just saw this amazing coin. What a reward for the POS ?

The proof of stake inflation rate was voted on and the rates were 5% and 10% - we are planning to do 10%, then 8% and maintaining 5% once the period ends.

Updated website and OP - corrected the links to Paper & Windows wallets. I added link to Mac wallet download.

Let me know if I missed something.

Ah good!  I was looking for the wallet, until I read you accidentally trashed some files on the website.

I will probably compile from source, when I get a moment.

Are you considering a transition from PoW to PoS or even a transition stage where the wallet will be hybrid PoW/PoS?  This transition would be more like a soft fork to make the transition easier for the user (certainly not for the developer).  I find that these wallet changes and hard-forks happen to quickly and people get left behind on the old chain as not everyone checks the forums and websites everyday or week.

If you know of a developer who can code a POW/POS Hybrid I would offer a bounty.

The question still looms, does the community want a piece of the proceeds of the Barter System or do I self fund it?

The idea of decentralized sits better with me but if there is not sufficient interest, then I will fund it myself.

Previous posts I have reached out to the community to see if we could get more developers or contributors to put their hand up, but I have not heard anything back. I previously have also stated that outside investors have asked if we need help, which I would need to revisit if required.

The software will be a trading platform for which you can swap goods and/or services, if any of parties involved does not want the others goods and/or services they can opt to receive the equivalent value in a Barter credit, which is BTA.

This project has buzz, I can see from the OP and the vibrancy in the website! Well done btw

The price declining can be a depressing factor but the markets are working naturally and there is strong demand at the support level. Looking at the charts I think there has been a bottom and you are just coming out from the bear market. In actual fact there is limited supply up until about 6x the current price.

Regarding the project direction I think there are some interesting concepts coming out of the Zcash research. Is it possible to implement the protocol on top of an existing blockchain?

If this is the case then perhaps merging this feature with the I2P will ring some bells?

moonrock

Regarding the project, Zcash is option because the code can be sourced from existing coins when switching to POS as a new client will be required.

Fair enough PC888 hope it sorts itself out.

Something struck me the other day, with the implosion of STEPS there are no coins atm trying to create a crypto freelance market.
In a way it is still bartering but on a more localized group (crypters) but if there was a marketplace where I could hire someone to do an app or a website and pay in BATA.

For instance you now could use it to get a new website done. not sure if the STEPS website is still up but it's worth a look

We need to start from somewhere so this would be a stepping stone to kick start the barter system with.

A quick update, website restored.

OP images restored.

Sorry for the delays in response.

Having some real issues that I am going through at the moment still, it looks like I might be out of action for a number of months due to family health issues.

To top it off, I deleted the BTA website by accident today. I was clearing files due to the Ticker Bot Spamming the server directory (1000's of files) and somehow selected the whole directory... grr maybe due to lag. I have since tried to restore the website but now am having some issues with the appearance. I will hopefully get to fix it tomorrow.

You also might notice that images are missing from the OP as well. This will be fixed tomorrow.

I am putting up my hand now and asking for more community involvement.

I am happy to step aside and let someone take the reins if the community desires, or get another Dev involved who has worked with POS.

We need to get things moving, we have the direction just need some practical work done.

I am unsure of how much of my time I need to devote to the family situation in the coming weeks or even worse case months.

I am still here, but out of action for the most part of the day - at present it 2.29am, just shows how limited my time is in front of a PC.

By no means am I saying I am giving up - just waving a little flag to say hey I might need a little hand now if you are will and able.

If anyone is a pro with Wordpress let me know as your help would be greatly appreciated.

We have experienced an issue with Uberpay due to electrum server expiring. The electrum server was hosted by a third party and I received no notification that the service was about to expire. I do not believe that I received any notification from Uberpay regarding an issue with the BTA electrum server. Therefore we will no longer be using Uberpay as a third party android wallet provider.

I have contacted BitcoinDood regarding his loss and who was personally compensated . No one else has raised the issue with me. I consider that an indication that others were not using the android wallet. Any claims further claims of loss will need to be backed up with proof.

We will continue to support Coinomi as they have demonstrated competency regarding any issues.

Mikes meat.... lol  Tongue
Sue loves Mikes Meat so she buys a lot of bata coins!  LOL

Yes you have a correct understanding. The other benefit of the system is BTA's value is determined by the markets, so one may wish to move excess stock at a certain price to hedge profits.

In addition members will earn BTA for goods and services they sell and this value is recorded electronically in the member's account. Members use their Bata Account or wallet to spend their BTA on

goods and/or services from any other Bata member.

I believe the community would like to know more about what you are proposing.

Please feel to ask any more questions.

We will do this in an open transparent discussion via public forum.
Thanks here are some questions...

I would like to know what do you plan to do next?
You plan to move to proof of stake have you decided on an inflation rate if at all?
When do you plan to implement it?
Have you implemented a members area?
Is anyone trading BTA for goods instead of other cryptos such as bitcoin?
Are you the only one working on BTA?

The plan next is to switch to POS once we have figured out the exchange platform.

The proof of stake inflation rate was voted on and the rates were 5% and 10% - we were planning to do 10%, then 8% and maintaining 5% once the period ends.

I was planning to introduce POS once we have a platform.

Currently we BTA is only traded with Cryptocurrencies across exhanges.

Yes, currently - in the past I have had help or seeked help from developers I know and trust.

Personal issues have hindered more development on BTA - I won't go into it here as everyone has issues as various points in their lives, but I am slowly getting through these issues and may require some help in the immediate term, in order to get BTA moving along.

Nothing is in cement, POS rates etc. I have an open mind when it comes to suggestions and discussion.

Nice work - great to see some community input.

Bata is Barter Currency
The Barter industry is a "20 Billion dollar" industry!

1) What is the concept of BATA?

Bata's Concept is to replace trade dollars in traditional Barter systems.

2) What will give this coin demand? or why would this coin gain any value?

The Barter industry is a 20 Billion dollar industry - if we can tap into industry, but in the style and ease of Uber and AirBNB - "The Sharing Economy".

3) Does it have any usages?

Currently BTA is a traded currency and accepted by some third party payment providers.

4) How big is the community supporting the coin?

There has been a lot of good people supporting this currency. As for the size of the community that is active, that would be determined by the amount of followers on social media and across forums.

5) How active is the admin?

Active and ready for input at anytime.

Hi,

Could somebody please tell me about BATA?

I understand what gives crypto-currency value. So my questions are:

1) What is the concept of BATA?
2) What will give this coin demand? or why would this coin gain any value?
3) Does it have any usages?
4) How big is the community supporting the coin?
5) How active is the admin?

I appreciate it if anyone can answer those questions for me.

This is a quote from someone's question in another forum, and I and new other people also want to know the answer from here to.
thanks
