Bitcoin Price Down; 400 or Recovery?

The bitcoin price broke support and lost strength overnight, begging the question - will we see 400 broken or are we in line for a recovery? Here's our take...

It’s been about 36 hours since we published our last intraday analysis, and we’ve had a lot of action across the period. In yesterday’s analysis, we suggested that the bitcoin price was – for want of a better phrase – coiling up and in doing so getting ready to spring in one direction. We noted that it was impossible to tell with any certainty just what that direction would be, but the rules of both our intrarange and our breakout strategy afford us the luxury of not having to form a bias if we don’t have any firm indication, and still being able to draw a profit on any volatility. As things turned out, the bears took control overnight, and we broke to the downside. We ran clean through the level we had slated as in term support and, without so much as a brief consolidation, hit our downside target for a nice quick profit on the move. As such, our upside levels (the ones we defined yesterday) become invalid, and we must set up some fresh parameters for today’s session.

Muslims are more that 1 billion in the world .
however, all the rest of the world is blaming them for every action that happen all around the world ! every one should be blame for his deeds not his religion.
Why do not you blame the WWII on Christianity for example!

In the world of Bitcoin, Mike Hearn is a big deal. He developed the code that made it possible to use Bitcoin on smartphones. A couple of years back, he quit a cushy engineering job at Google to focus on Bitcoin full time because he was convinced of its potential to change the world. But now he’s quitting the digital currency and declaring Bitcoin a failed experiment.

“The fundamentals are broken and whatever happens to the price in the short term, the long term trend should probably be downwards,” he writes on Medium. “I will no longer be taking part in Bitcoin development and have sold all my coins.”

'It Would Be Better to Prevent Spread' of Bitcoin, Says Russian Official

Russia’s Investigative Committee Chairman Alexander Bastrykin spoke about the country’s economy and the usage of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin in Russia, in an interview today.

Brings up previous proposals for criminalizing the production and usage of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
Claims Bitcoin’s rapid spread “will represent a real threat to the financial stability of the state.”
Concludes it would be better to prevent spread of “surrogates” like Bitcoin at its initial stage in the market.

A Bitcoin Believer’s Crisis of Faith

Mike Hearn, a British computer programmer, holed up in his two-bedroom apartment in Zurich over several days and nights last week, writing a cri de coeur.

Two years ago, Mr. Hearn quit a cushy programming job at Google’s Swiss headquarters to devote himself full time to what was his great passion: the virtual currency Bitcoin. He was one of a handful of developers around the world dedicated to maintaining the basic software that governs both the creation of new Bitcoins and the network on which the financial transactions take place.

But a nasty fight has torn apart the small brotherhood of Bitcoin developers and raised questions about the survival of the virtual currency. Mr. Hearn, until recently one of the most prominent leaders of the Bitcoin project, became so disillusioned that in December he sold the few hundred Bitcoins he had left and quietly took a job at a new start-up.

Islamic State claims Jakarta attack, targets Indonesia for first time

Islamic State said it was behind an attack by suicide bombers and gunmen in the heart of Jakarta on Thursday, the first time the radical group has targeted the world's most populous Muslim nation.

Just seven people were killed despite multiple blasts and a gunfight, and five of them were the attackers themselves, but the brazenness of their siege suggested a new brand of militancy in a country where low-level strikes on police are common.

It took security forces about three hours to end the attack near a Starbucks cafe and Sarinah's, Jakarta's oldest department store, after a team of militants traded gunfire with police and blew themselves up.

The Silk Road’s Dark-Web Dream Is Dead

NOT SO LONG ago, the Silk Road was not only a bustling black market for drugs but a living representation of every cryptoanarchist’s dream: a trusted trading ground on the Internet where neither the government’s laws nor the Drug War they’ve spawned could reach. Today, that illicit narco-utopia is long gone, its once-secret server in an evidence storage room and its creator Ross Ulbricht fighting a last ditch appeal to escape life in prison.

But more than two years since the FBI’s Silk Road takedown, the dark web markets Ulbricht inspired are suffering a less tangible but more fundamental kind of failure: the Silk Road’s dream has died, too.

PayPal Appoints Bitcoin Company CEO To Board

A digital currency enthusiast has joined the board at PayPal.

PayPal announced yesterday (Jan. 13) that it appointed Wences Casares to its board of directors. Casares is the founder and CEO of Xapo, a bitcoin company. The company provides tools for consumers to both purchase bitcoins and manage them through its digital wallet. It also enables consumers to spend bitcoin using the Xapo Debit Card or store them in Xapo’s secure Vault.

Calling him a “successful international FinTech entrepreneur and recognized next-generation payment and cryptocurrency thought leader,” PayPal noted that he will serve on the company’s Compensation Committee.

“I join PayPal’s directors and the entire PayPal team in welcoming Wences to our board,” said Dan Schulman, president and CEO of PayPal. “Wences’ unique line of sight into the future of commerce is ideally aligned with PayPal’s vision of transforming the management and movement of money for people around the globe.”

Bitcoin Best Practices: How A Newbie Can Neither Lose Coins Nor Fall Victim To Digital Theft (Op-Ed)

I lost the first bitcoin I had, shortly after the first Mt. Gox compromise. If you haven't lost coin yourself, I'm sure you've heard of those who have. The reasons vary, but all come down in the end to a lack of experience and education.

As we go about bringing bitcoin more into use in our day-to-day lives, it becomes important to have a basic understanding of what bitcoin is, how it works, and how we can use it without putting our value at unnecessary risk.
