721  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: P2P Scams : Where does the government stand on: June 07, 2023, 11:12:45 AM
It really depends on the nature of the scam. In P2P trading, fiat is usually involved. So regardless of whether crypto is involved or not, it can be taken up by the court of law. Even in my country, crypto is not recognised in any way legally. Still we often face bank freeze issues and it can be taken up with legal enforcement team.

Can op please be specific what kind of scam you are referring to?
722  Local / India / Darknet based drug cartel busted in India - that's why government don't trust cr on: June 06, 2023, 05:49:13 PM
Quote
NCB deputy director general, Gyaneshwar Singh. said six people have been arrested in connection with the seizure of LSD blots and imported marijuana.

Six people, alleged to be part of a pan-India network of drug traffickers, have been arrested and 15,000 LSD blots seized, the Narcotics Control Bureau said on Tuesday, describing the seizure as its biggest ever in the last two decades. The agency has also seized 2.5kg of imported marijuana and ₹4.65 lakh in cash at the instance of the suspects.

“This network used the dark net in their dealing. This network operated virtually and the payments were made via cryptocurrency and crypto wallets. The buyer and the seller did not have any physical contact,” said NCB deputy director general, Gyaneshwar Singh.

Most Unfortunately crypto got involved in another wrongdoing in India. these kind of incidents are actually giving reasons to the government to ban cryptocurrency entirely in India. dealing in drug is unfortunate but having involvement of cryptocurrency is even more unfortunate.
723  Economy / Economics / Re: Getting an MBA before starting a company or directly starting a company? on: June 06, 2023, 04:17:38 AM
Getting an MBA is beneficial because it sets you apart from the rest of the pack. One of the advantages of an MBA is that it forces you to read and learn, which helps you expand your knowledge about any business you want to venture into. I strongly believe that one of the reasons why start-ups fail is because they lack a solid foundation in understanding frameworks and conducting their own research, instead of relying solely on purchased data. While it is true that not everyone may be able to afford an MBA program, the truth is that there is so much to learn from it. If you had the opportunity to pursue an MBA before starting a company or directly starting a company, which option would you choose?

I don't believe that you need an MBA to start a business anywhere in the world. But if you have that degree it will be a little easier for you to understand the business landscape which may give you a little edge over the competition. But it's not mandatory. If you look at the majority of the business conglomerates of today's world, their founders didn't need a business administration degree to make them big. So don't think too much about it.

If you want to learn product management, there are multiple certifications available in the market, which you can do at a fraction of the cost of an MBA. That's a good start as well. Then during the course fo time, you will learn things as they come.
724  Local / India / Re: Not all crypto earning will be taxed on the 30% on: June 05, 2023, 05:19:34 PM
I do indeed have a question here as I am hearing a little difference in opinions. Can signature campaign income be considered as a trading activity or can we consider it as a mode of getting paid and can be added as normal income?

Also if we convert the cryptos in INR which I have received from signature campaign, will it be considered as a trading activity? A lot of unknowns are here. I spoke to couple of CAs and they are all generalising all crypto incomes under 30% bracket.
725  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: New york ce6ypto ban on: June 05, 2023, 04:45:43 PM
I live in NY and can't buy any crypto there are no atms (all shutdown) all exchanges block me the only way I can think is by person but that's kinda risky unless I know them irl. Any suggestions?

I am not aware that NY banned crypto transactions. I don't think it is correct unless something has changed in last couple of weeks. Which exchanges are banning you? What is the reason they are providing? I am sure that's not for the location.

As per the Bitlicense, any exchanges holding the license, are allowed to offer crypto services to any NY residents. Try Coinbase if you haven't already.

You like to maintain this transaction fee because it's cheaper to send Bitcoin in and out of a Bitcoin wallet? You must be joking.

If this is maintained like you wished for, Bitcoin is never going over 27,000$ again and you will become a winner, tell me, are you buying Bitcoin right now because of cheap transaction fee? Will you be happy if Bitcoin stays at 27,000$ in the next years because of cheap transaction fee?

Well this cheap fee won't last for long unfortunately, if you are sad because of this, well, I am not, I want to see Bitcoin at 150k minimum in few years later, and this will result in higher transaction fee at the time, 20$ to 100$ per transaction might be a norms in the year 2025.

If the transactions fees goes to $100, I am sure 99.99% of the cryptos users will be very unhappy. Bitcoin can never become an ideal payment processor if the fees do not stay cheaper. Otherwise Bitcoin will remain an investment asset only and never become a method to transfer value.

Also OP is not referring to the USD value of the fees. He is pointing towards Satoshi value and it's quite fair at his part. Bitcoin has to remain competitive in the market in order to survive. I personally don't see a reason to pay high fees just because some junk Ordinals.

728  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 10% Cashback by paying with Bitcoin in more than 250 Shops in Lugano on: June 02, 2023, 04:50:59 PM
This is surely a great news! This is something which will help bitcoin to gain adoption for sure. People love discounts and cashbacks so it's really a win-win situation for both parties.

Today morning someone argued that BRC-20 tokens are going to help bitcoin adoption. I strongly disagree with that. Ordinals are not good news for bitcoin. But adopting it as a payment processor with 10% cashback offer will go a long way if it gets right promotion.
729  Economy / Economics / Re: What is your personal debt reduction method aside the debt snowball method? on: June 02, 2023, 02:28:43 PM
I won't go on discussing the snowball method but I want to share a personal strategy which I use to pay off my mortgage faster. It's called progressive debt repayment or step up.

I just increase monthly payment by 10% -15% every year and that's it. I don't make lumpsum payments or any interest renegotiation unless absolutely needed. I had initially taken this loan for 25 years and now I can see the tenure remaining is less than 17 years. This method really helped me personally.
730  Local / India / Re: UPI Access for Crypto Transactions Could Be Restored Soon on: June 02, 2023, 01:28:12 PM
What's the use? I am not generally a negative person. But after the imposition of 30% tax on crypto transaction, I became very negative about the future of cryptocurrency in India. So I really do not know what purpose it would serve to activate UPI transactions in Indian crypto exchanges!

Even if it gets activated, it will still come out of your bank account and your exchange is going to charge 1% TDS to let the income tax department know about your crypto transactions. Then at the end of the year, 30% tax will be charged on that amount. No use literally!
731  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you support bitcoin as Global reserve currency? on: June 01, 2023, 03:03:14 PM
I will support gold more than bitcoin to be honest. Bitcoin is a very new currency and it has not matured enough to become a global reserve currency. The network is simply not capable of handling such volume. Gold is a much better choice as a reserve currency and it had also earlier used for similar reason.

The current debt backed economy has started showing its weakness now. Gold is a much better option to replace the current debt backed economy. Not bitcoin.
732  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ordinals and BRC20 development on: June 01, 2023, 01:13:01 PM
Nope! I do not agree with the idea of Ordinals and it is also doesn't go with the idea of Satoshi to make Bitcoin a payment processor. This whole Ordinals and BRC-20 staff is not bringing back attention from non-bitcoiners so no help in adoption either. It's just clogging the network with more and more transactions without any real good.

NFT market has already started drying down. In next couple of years, it will be vanished. Because nothing good can happen to the society by selling some nonsense pictures over a blockchain. You can check cyberpunk series of NFTs to know what I mean by nonsense.
733  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Security Token Offerings (STOs): Hype or down of decentralized fundraising? on: June 01, 2023, 04:20:38 AM
Securities are a different thing then utility tokens, even though the fundraising or "offering" method has been same. Mostly those are legal nightmare and tokens in their current form doesn't really suit for securities.

Yes, by definition security tokens are different than utility tokens. I am completely aware of that fact. But does it change the modus Operandi? No!

Coin creators are constantly finding new ways to lure investors in. But what's the end game? Sell coins and wait for them to be listed in a CEX/DEX. The majority of the time, creators sell their own holdings and get out with fat profits while the common investors like us rot in hell. I personally hold millions of dead tokens which have no value at today's date.

734  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dad's retirement money is invested in Bitcoin! on: May 31, 2023, 06:00:23 PM

I feel like if I invest half the amount in Bitcoin for a year after receiving his retirement allowance, I might be able to hand over more money to my dad at the end of the year.
Hope I get proper advice from you.

Or you may lose all your Dad's money in one year! Both possibilities are open. Now you and your dad need to decide whether to gamble with his hard-earned money. If I were you, I wouldn't have touched half of his money for sure! I would have probably used 5%-10% of that money to invest in Bitcoin.

The basis of investment is - never to keep all your eggs in one basket. So diversify. Invest in Bitcoin, invest in Gold, invest in tax saving instruments, invest in stocks that pays out good dividends. That's how you will create a parallel source of income for him. But don't invest half of his money into Bitcoin for God's sake. Don't gamble with retirement funds, ever. period.
735  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Security Token Offerings (STOs): Hype or down of decentralized fundraising? on: May 31, 2023, 04:27:40 PM

Quoting the image for better visibility.

ICO, IDO, IEO, STO - these are all same processes under different naming just to fool people. The end goal is to sell coins and make money. The modus operandi doesn't change with the name. These are all fundraising techniques to make it relevant with time. Nothing else!
736  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 77% into the next Bitcoin halving on: May 31, 2023, 02:49:26 PM
The usual sentiment around bitcoin halving is generally optimistic. The general thinking is that, if the demand stays robust and the production decreases, the price is bound to go up. That's why people are staking up while the price is somewhat stable.

It's correct that no one knows which way the market is going to respond after halving. But the general sentiment is positive and the people will try to cash out from this opportunity.
737  Economy / Economics / Re: UAE is the biggest gold buyer of Russia during this war on: May 30, 2023, 05:18:58 PM
UAE is just intelligent and it doesn't take a huge effort to understand that many other countries are also following the same path to make their coffees filled with Russian Gold and Oil. It's just sensible business.

The way USD is loosing it's dominance, no one knows what will be the next world order. US used to control around 72% of the world trade with their currency, which has now been reduced to 51%. So it makes sense to store more gold for the unforeseen future.
738  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is prohibited for use as payment on the island of Bali, Indonesia on: May 30, 2023, 03:15:13 PM
Is it just Bali or entire Indonesia? I believe the Indonesian government has allowed crypto currency trading while banning  it from being used as a payment method. Also the religious council of Indonesia termed cryptocurrencies as Haram. So what Bali governor is doing, is not much different than the mindset of the current government.

I think this is being enforced tightly because many tourists are probably trying to use bitcoin as a payment method while visiting there.
739  Local / India / Re: Can you cashout gift card from Amazon pay to bank? on: May 29, 2023, 03:49:06 PM

I found out that you can transfer the gift card amount to your bank account but you need to pass full KYC. Now the question that came into my mind was is their any tax involved for using a coupon on an Amazon or any other online platform? If yes then why use Bitrefill? If not then what are the implications of passing KYC of Amazon pay?

I am aware the max you can get as a gift coupons is 5k as I recently made a purchase on Bitrefill. The problem is if I pass full KYC can I still cashout with regular intervals before Amazon start questioning my transaction?

If anyone here has tried it please leave a reply.

Thanks in advance.

P.S- Please ignore my typo mistake as this time is midnight for me.

Are you sure? I have tried doing it but wasn't able to transfer the gift card balance to my bank account. I wasn't even able to make UPI transactions with that. I am one of the oldest members of Amazon Prime and fully KYC verified. Please let me know how you did that?

I personally think, if you don't transact too often, there's no way Amazon will question you. I do about 40-50 grand gift card transaction in a year and have never received any questions from them.
740  Economy / Economics / Re: Will chatgpt really destroy the job market? on: May 29, 2023, 01:43:36 PM
Since ChatGPT was launched in November last year, this AI technology has created a huge response across the globe.  This technology has gained so much popularity that people are using this technology in almost every field. Any math can be easily solved through this technology, any unknown matter can be easily known through this technology, so there is a lot of doubt in everyone's mind about this technology that this technology will destroy the job market or not?

When asked about this, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said the technology will never destroy the job market. Rather, this technology will solve things that people never know about.  Since all tasks can be solved easily through this technology, this bot system may be used instead of humans in various work fields.
If this technology is used in the workplace, many people will lose their jobs.

Not just ChatGPT, but the way AI is moving forward, it is going to create a huge issue in job market especially for process driven tasks which can be automated. But such kind of AI tools is going to disturp the translation market in a big way. Majority of the translation specific companies are going to loose small clients because to such LLMs like ChatGPT or Bard AI.

I think it's best to stay ahead in the competition by learning prompt engineering. This will allow you to use these AI tools in the most effective way.
