7241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you recieved random BTC, would you return it? on: July 05, 2016, 04:03:40 PM
To be real I do not think that I would return it because nobody else would return it and I am sure of that. If I was send some Bitcoins to the wrong person I know that I would not receive it back.
So I would also not return it, I would receive it as a gift and sell all of them.

 I would return it.
7242  Economy / Goods / Re: Looking to purchase 5 star hotel reservation in Seattle, WA on: July 04, 2016, 08:52:16 PM
You can book a hotel reservation through cheapair.com and pay with bitcoin.  They have a filter for the number of stars which you can select.
I can see you might have a problem getting someone to book on your behalf though since just as you would not want to be kicked out by security, they would not want to get a call from security telling them that you destroyed the room before you left and they are responsible for damages.  That being said, I haven't been to a hotel in the US that hasn't asked me for identification, even when I have booked in advance with the credit card I show them on arrival.  I don't stay in 5 star hotels though, maybe they are less strict on verifying identity.

Let's say you wake up some day and you get like 1 BTC. For me this is a lot. What do you do? You return back the BTC to the owner, do you keep it? and why.

I don't know what I would do to be honest. I mean who knows if the guy that just sent you this is a criminal or a good man? Very tough decision. For someone like me that has a small BTC wallet and is trying to make as much BTC as possible before its too late due price going too high, it would be hard to return it, but I would feel bad to keep it too.
For me it would highely depend on the guy. I would try and read his attitude from what he says to me, if he demands the btc then i probablt wouldnt send it back, but if hes nice i would. Grin
Yep. If the person is a total butthole, then I wouldn't want to return the coins to him but if he asks nicely and sincerely, then I might've returned it to him. However, I might ask for a little amount as compensation for his mistake. Not much, just a little.

You are the total butthole.  There is no way for that person to speak to you or vice-versa.  You can't contact somebody based solely on a bitcoin address.
Does anyone posting in this thread know how bitcoin transactions work?

No I do not think that I would return it, I would sell them right away to make some money. There is no reason for me to return it because I can sure use the money, maybe if that preson really needed it back and send me a nice e-mail on why they need it.

Do you use your bitcoin address as an email address as well?  How in the world is anyone going to email you about this error?  You have so many posts but don't know the basics of bitcoin...
 Also you are dishonest.

7247  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Enjoy bitcoin while supply lasts on: July 04, 2016, 03:30:20 AM
Bitcoin has a limited supply and the users are constantly growing by numbers. The dwindling supply of bitcoins versus the increasing demands of consumers will lead to the shortage of supply and may lead to the total failure of bitcoin in the future. It is possible that it my happen so enjoy your bitcoins today since it may not be there tomorrow.

You know, if you substitute "fresh water" for "bitcoin" you might have something there.
I would be more apt to believe that increased adoption of bitcoin which might lead to a shortage of supply will cause an increase in value of bitcoin rather than its demise.  Do you have any data to back up your assertion that these events will lead to its total failure?  Also, can you suggest ways in which we might enjoy bitcoin today in case it isn't here tomorrow?  I'm always looking for new ways to enjoy my bitcoin!

Wow.  Is that a special member rate?  What do you charge non-members?
Anyway, I fixed some minor errors for you but you have a bigger issue than grammar.  Usury laws in the USA are made at the state level and your interest rate is in violation of at least 50 of those states' limits.  Also, you probably need to register as a money-lender. Under section 347 of the criminal code of Canada, interest rates of greater than 60% per annum are criminal rates of interest.  The legal limits vary throughout the EU but your rate is a violation in every member country.
You should probably speak with an attorney before attempting to lend someone money to ensure you don't run afoul of these laws.

one last thing I am using numbers after the ½ ing not before since the ½ ing is about six days from now.

It looks like the block reward is set to 25 in those images you posted.

i   ½-ed the cash  ,  but I did it when cash was at 710 a coin should be 355 .

I then bumped it a hair  to 380 usd

I kept all numbers in cash.

Doing long term projections is my art and feel then pure science.

who the f really knows the actual price in 10 days 25 days 50 days 100 days.  and who the f really knows  the diff numbers I guessed 4%

Okay I see it now.  Yeah difficulty has pretty much always been a tough variable to predict.  It's even tougher now that most companies keep their new devices a secret.

7252  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 500Btc loan on: July 03, 2016, 09:18:39 PM
Hi i found a nice flat however im not going to make the first down payment, so im asking you to provide me with about 500BTC in advance. Can pay about 1200€ back each month....

Listen. I understand what you're going through as I have been there before. I can help you with this loan but first I'll need you to do some things to prove to me and everyone else that you are legit.

I'll need you to post your real name and place of work.
I'll also be requesting that you post 3 pictures clearly showing your face and your forum name.
In addition, I'll need for your close family (mom, dad, brothers, sisters, grandparents) to post on this forum on your behalf and explaining to use why we should grant you this loan.

If you can complete all that Then I'll only have a few more hoops you'll need to jump through before you get the loan.

For example, I need you take take a picture of yourself sitting in a bathtub full of marshmallows ( i know that's an easy one)
I'll need 3 liters of your blood, overnighted to me but dont worry I'll keep it cold in the fridge.
I'll need you to catch 5 kiddy blown bubbles on your nose at the same time. ( that one may take some practice)
And once you've completed all those tasks I'll only ask you to climb Mt Everest naked and reach the summit.
Once all of the tasks have been completed I'll be happy to fund your house and be your landlord with you on a rent to own basis.

 Grin

lol  You never did get a house did you?   I guess not since:

Hey Guys,

I am searching for a specified Bitcoin address. The adress should begin with "11111111". That's all! Smiley
I hope you can help me.

Thank you and best regards,

Patrick Smiley

On my phone it looked like 7 1's which might take me a couple of weeks but I see now that it is 8 1's and that is nearly impossible for me to generate in any reasonable amount of time.
This is a very difficult address to generate.  I'm sorry, I cannot offer it.
7254  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The less you own, the more you have on: July 03, 2016, 05:57:33 PM
Minimalism + Bitcoin = happiness

I have been living this lifestyle for about 4 years. Everything I own can fit in a carry-on and a backpack (other than a box of childhood stuff at my mother's house). My expenses are about 10% of my monthly income having downsized to a small 35 sqm apartment. I bought a cheap/reliable car, paid in cash (my criteria was something that would last 2 years, good gas mileage and I wouldn't mind walking away from).

By doing this I can focus on the things in life that truly make me happy, last year I traveled to one new country a month. I don't worry about money like I used to. I will probably be able to quit my job in the next few years and do something I enjoy instead of just working for the money. And it has allowed me to accumulate bitcoins. Continuing this lifestyle will allow me to see the world and be independent/free instead of having to spend my life protecting my stuff.

Bitcoin does a lot to help with this lifestyle as I would not be able to be as mobile with gold, moving place to place carrying large amounts of gold across borders while I can carry my private key easily anywhere. I can always find a localbitcoins seller in whatever country I go to to get local currency.

The Less You Own, The More You Have (TED talk)

That's awesome if it works for you.  I can understand how it might be a desirable way to live and at the same time I wonder why you haven't considered whether a family would fit in that backpack?  I used to live similarly to the way you describe - not so much a conscious effort; I simply hated the idea of monthly payments and debt hanging over me.  I wouldn't say it made me happy, it just made life more simple.  Suddenly, I met someone and everything changed.  Now I have to work, I have some debt (quite manageable) and even a couple of monthly payments (mostly utilities but still I will never pay for television!).   I have never been happier and I cannot describe the feeling a young child of yours will give you as they grow and learn nor the feeling of loving and being loved.  I realize family isn't for everyone but I never though it was for me either... +bitcoin Wink

You don't need to spend all your time here to know about that thread.
It is so popular (almost 2000 posts in it) that it is almost all the time on the first page of the gambling section so you can find it very easily.

And I think you did find it too and you saw how popular it is and you hope that your copy thread will get popular too so you get many views and clicks on your ref link that is in your signature.

Never seen it on the front page.... that means, you guys are regular visitors while I am not ? Could this be the problem?

It is on the front page right now...
Are you blind? Could this be the problem?

No, I spotted another problem.... you are bumping a thread that you dislike. I love that logic  Smiley

You're wasting valuable time with this.  Get on with your awesome life.
7258  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 500Btc loan on: July 03, 2016, 02:21:57 PM
I lol'd

500 BTC, Repaying 1200€ back each month....

Have you guys figured out that its gonna take over a 2 decades to pay this back?

500 BTC = 300,400 €
@ 1200 € /Month

300,400 €  = 250 months
250 months > 20 years

It doesn't matter if the flat is the collateral, the only issue would be that he doesn't have a down payment so it might be possible to lose money on the resale of the flat if he defaults in the first few months.

My biggest issue would be the low interest rate he is asking for here.  A 305 000 euro mortgage over 25 years @ 1 200 per month is only 1.355% interest.  Way too low even in todays low interest rate climate.  I think 1 600 euro per month would be more realistic and only if OP had at least 5% of his own money to put down.

This is a duplicate of this post with the only difference being your inclusion of profanity.  Reported.
