It was recently reported that Justin Sun has been linked to a $30M Ponzi scheme in China. The scam, called the “Wave Field Super Community,” was an investment fund mysteriously shut down on June 30. Everyone who participated lost their capital. One single mother even committed suicide as a result of the scam. It is unclear currently whether the ongoing police raid is related to the accusations of Justin Sun’s involvement in a Ponzi scheme.

If this is real then it is not good for cryptospace. People will have negative impression about the entire crypto industry.
7302  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is parlay an effective betting strategy? on: July 08, 2019, 12:39:12 PM
I've won some good amount with paylay in sports betting in the past but when I start doing it in a regular basis, it seems my overall return is negative.
So my question, do you bet on parlay and why?, and what's the biggest odds you've won so far?
We call it acca.
Well the most tempted gambling habit for me. I have lost a lot of money in acca's. Was very close to a lot of them but always find myself losing one or two selection no matter if this is a 5 selection or 15 selection however the best bet was an 8 selection which I won 5 or 6 years ago.

If I recall then the bet amount was £20 and return was £800+ or something.

After I saw someone win more than 50 BTC on NitrogenSports (with just a 0.01 BTC bet)
Bookies nightmare LOL

7304  Economy / Marketplace / Re: I need 5 sources of revenue to generate $200 each per month - Ideas? on: July 08, 2019, 12:28:30 PM
Guys.

So I was wondering if you guys could give me ideas to set up some revenue streams that would not require much time investment per week.

Ideally each source of revenue should bring in about $200 per month and should be scalable.

I have some of my own ideas but I can get too biased about what I think is the right thing, so I want to open up this discussion to all of you that might have better ideas than what I could conjour.

Self-mod thread, but I won't delete your posts unless you start trolling.
Start you own eCommerce.

Dropshipping - You do not even need your own product. Buy products from amazon and sell them in ebay
Affiliate marketing - again you do not need your own product however you need to have very good knowledge about how online advertising works.

These are the two side income you can try. The first one will not need any money at all but the second one may require a lot of money just to educate yourself and to use the proper tools.

Good luck.

Prizes have been paid. Congrats to the winners! big_daddy won first place with hahay and LTU_btc tied for second.
Thank you DarkStar_. I left a PM for you, Tomahawk9 and Harkorede.

Congratulations to big_daddy, hahay and LTU_btc. In case if anyone is wondering why Hahay and LTU_btc got same amount of prize is because the score was tied for 2nd prize.

Here we have the full point table:

Thank you everyone for being a part of this pool. It was awesome to have you all.
7307  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Copa América 2019 Discussion Thread & Prediction Pool (registration closed) on: July 07, 2019, 05:38:08 PM
Yes better to end this dilemma of red cards and back to the awaiting game. Brazil gonna win with +2 goals imo!
I am going with a 3 - 1 margin for Brazil to win. By the way, I really wonder how these guys in the pool manages to get all those correct scores LOL I am currently at 7th position with only 18.5 points.
7308  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 07, 2019, 03:38:15 PM
Question im my mind is will we get the the 5-7k this summer before the shake out of get rich quick alt boyz and newbs is done or do we start the run to 20k from the 7-9 range.

'Run to $20K' is so 2017. I'm thinking run to $150K.
There are some things that we do agree
Finally jb understood bitcoins 🤪

Messi is not attacking here like he does in the midfield he is acting as a defender 🤪 however it was fun to see this shoulder/chest fight. May be a new form of sports just invented there LOL

Back to football again, with some other users above I also think Brazil is going to win this match very easily. I do not see there will be any competition.
7310  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Double Spent - experiment and failed - may be we have a clue on: July 07, 2019, 03:22:25 PM
<...>
You were 38 seconds too slow performing your experiment …:

Alright, you now can't merit the same post with the same amount within 60 seconds.
The timeframe is meant to cover the most frequent case scenarios, but does not cover all.

Okay now I understand the message that said, "You just merited that post....". The 2nd event and trying for the 3rd event was obviously less than 60 seconds. I know I was faster at that time.

Anyway, this was a tricky move to stop double spending and to have the same page at the same time so that if a user wants to spend more sMerits for the same user without moving to any other page. If this is the cause then it's logical to come back to the same page however if this is not the case then the user can be redirected to the topic page once the event has been handled. In this case there will be no need for the extra code to prevent spending same amount of merit in 60 seconds.

Only theymos can return the merit but I'm not sure if he will or not and I don't think it's worth the time pursing and you should just accept the loss of merits and move on in this case. However, it would be helpful if the bug was fixed so it doesn't happen again in the future so you can keep pushing for a change/fix if you wish but it certainly wouldn't be on my list of priorities (for either you or theymos).
Which list of priorities we are talking about here? Sorry, I am not a regular meta user however I do read sometimes to keep myself updated with the trend.

And I already said that I don't need those sMerit to have returned. With you, I also realize (agree) that it's worthless.
7311  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Double Spent - experiment and failed - may be we have a clue on: July 07, 2019, 09:41:28 AM
I thought about giving some merits to replace the ones you lost but touching wet paint when you know it's wet is a pretty silly thing to do.

You can't replace it once it's gone, can you? - unless theymos reverse the merit manually. Meanwhile I do not need it too. Yes, it was silly but it's the curiosity lol. Glad I am not stupid enough to pull a trigger to see how it feels to die 🤪

By the way, I think we have a possible solution here to stop it. Not sure if this will get theymos's attention.

Good morning WO!

We are still moving sideways.

Observing @ $11,180
7313  Other / Meta / Merit Double Spent - experiment and failed - may be we have a clue on: July 07, 2019, 08:58:12 AM
I wanted to send some merit to this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5161490.0

I had 8 sMerit left. I thought to send 3 sMerit for the topic.

I knew there was an issue with sending merit in the send merit page (action=merit). Once you refresh, it spend the smerit again. I never experienced this so I was just curious to check it and was hoping may be theymos found a solution. So I refreshed the page and it showed this pop up of resending the data to the server. I clicked resend and it sent the same sMerit again. Broke my hurt knowing that it was not fixed, felt a bit angry too to lose 3 more smerits.

Now I am left with 2 sMerits so I thought lets refresh it again knowing that this time there should be some message or any error that will tell me that there were not enough smerit (I was interested to see the message this time). But instead I saw this:

This means, theymos tried to handle the event in somewhere in the code in the same page (action=merit) to stop double spending but it is not working.

And while I was experimenting this, I had this idea in mind:
Instead of bringing the user in the same page (action=merit) once they hit the send merit button, why not redirect the user in the topic page (or any other page but topic page is more logical). This way the send merit page (action=merit) is not going to load again with the same set of code when we hit the send merit button.

Make sense?

7315  Economy / Services / Re: Coming soon - Gamblingtec Signature Campaign | Get BTC or your own casino brand on: July 06, 2019, 07:51:19 PM
If people don't like the escrow, don't participate in the campaign.  Simple as that.  He shouldn't be forced to use a certain escrow, bitcoiners should believe in freedom.
I can not tell about others. If they are pushing or not but I am not pushing OP for an escrow. All I am suggesting him is that if he really wants to use an escrow then go with a trusted one instead of someone who has tons of red tags and is creating drama instead of really having the service.

OP is free to run his business however he wants. He will be fine as long as everyone who joins his campaign gets paid for their participation.

7318  Economy / Services / Re: Coming soon - Gamblingtec Signature Campaign | Get BTC or your own casino brand on: July 06, 2019, 07:02:53 PM
I do not disagree with the use of escrow as it installs trust. Unfortunately, this is not as cut and dry as one may think.

If DarkStar (or any other) is willing to sign a contract, and hand over KYC i.e. two forms of ID, proof of address (utility bill no older than 3 months or equivalent [and for each director of the comapny]) and have on hand a valid tax return for the past financial year (personally or for their company), we can work with them. Otherwise, we can not risk working with individuals who wish to remain anonymous and at the same time handle our funds. If for any reason the individual or company we use is in any way linked to drug money, fraud, money laundering, etc. we stand to lose more than a few bucks thrown at a marketing campaign.

You are the ultimate decision maker for your business but the things you are asking from an escrow here, it does not work like this in this community. This is a crypto currency community. We are very sensitive with our privacy. Our trust is in cryptographic proofs and blockchain which is publicly accessible, nothing hidden there.

I surely can not speak for DarkStar_ or any other escrow in this forum but I believe the following will be true for all of them:

If you ask them to handover their ID and stuffs to you then you will hear a "no" however if you ask them to sign a Bitcoin address which they have staked here which proves it's really them and their history in this community then I am sure they will be more than happy to offer you their service. You need to accept the culture of a community if you want to business with them.

Talking about drags and money laundering and all these stuffs, I am not sure how it's relevant with your service. You need someone who will hold your fund for you and will use the fund as per your given terms.

Quote
I trust this is clear. If you do not agree, then we will simply not work with you.
Of course your message is clear but your expectation is unrealistic. You are trying to step-in in a community without respecting their culture.

7320  Economy / Service Discussion / Tor service is slow (TOO SLOW) on: July 06, 2019, 06:42:48 PM
Is it only me or anyone else is also facing this pathetic slow TOR service? I am using Tor with my firefox browser. I use it smoothly but from last few hours I am having very slow page loading. I was tempted to throw away my laptop twice LOL because of these following repeated shits:

The captcha keeps failing when try to log in.
Pages are taking ages to load
Connection gets disconnected

What the f**k is going on with this Tor shit?

We are all 18+? 🤪
