741  Economy / Economics / Re: Money and education on: April 02, 2023, 07:45:17 AM
I think we should educate our self first then find a job or do business to have money, if we are educated there is a lot of ways to earn making a store or invest or make a farm etc., There's a lot of ways when we are educated so i think education is the most important.
valid point - but these days education is important but skill is more important.
there is a large population which is not educated but they are skilled.

Agree with this. Here in my country, the qualifications is so strict and high that you actually need a degree for minimum wage jobs. So, it is better to have an education background since it would strengthen your position in the industry. Although it is not that necessary, it is better to have it since education is not contained to having a degree but rather having first hand experience in the field you are into. It is important to continually improve our knowledge to catch up to the advancement of time.
742  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you feel bad while paying with BTC? on: March 31, 2023, 01:07:00 PM
I think if you take consideration of directly using bitcoin, there is indeed some feeling of uneasiness since it is a volatile currency that any second or minute changes its value. If the value got higher, you probably feel bad spending it. If it got lower, you might feel ok since you used the value of your currency at a higher one. So, it is like a roller coaster ride since you won't really know what would happen next. So, when spending just be sure you are ready to feel those emotions and try to spend wisely.
743  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trust in cryptocurrency? on: March 31, 2023, 01:03:46 AM
I think the awareness on cryptocurrency on a global scale is still small especially when we look at developing countries that majority of population isn't the technologically involved nor aware. In our country, cryptos are seen as some money investment that some think of it as scam. Also, majority would be overwhelmed with the technicality of this digital currency. I think, there's still a long road towards full acceptability of this new currency.
744  Other / Meta / Re: Plagiarism vs AI Posting on: March 30, 2023, 12:44:14 AM
The technology sure is scary. But I think in any case you can tell if you're talking to a real person or a bot.
In the end the bot's problem is that it doesn't understand the context, it uses the sentences by manipulating them. At least as far as I understand.

I agree with this since in todays AI technology, there is still that difference that you are talking to a bot compared to a human thru chats. But is is scary to think that they are becoming more human in the way they construct conversations. In terms of plagiarism, I think, this is not a fair way of engaging in forums since it is more of human discussion and thoughts sharing. Also, I agree that you can't get something from that since you are not the one who personally make it, you might have an idea but you wouldn't get the whole context of it.
745  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Canada Requires Pension Funds to Disclose Crypto Risks on: March 29, 2023, 11:22:35 PM
I think this is a good move for the government to see the activities in regards with cryptos that involves pension. Pension money should always be secured and it is the government's duty to protect it and make sure it is legally used and saved. This transparency would also make the citizens have reassurance of their funds. Overall, it is a great idea to have this.
746  Economy / Gambling / Re: No bet is a waste on: March 28, 2023, 02:02:06 PM
O yeah, we win some we lose some that are the way the game goes, I have been gambling for a while now, and frankly speaking,3 I don't feel bad when the bet doesn't go my way, but then I am also able to set a limit to the number of bets I make so that I can control my feelings when the bet donts go my way.
Real gamblers have nothing to do with their losses. They use it to encourage themselves in the next bet. So for them no gamble is a waste, there is always hope to win the next game to cover the previous losses. Losing and winning is part of a real gambler. That is why when they win unexpected they are very happy. But the less minded gamblers is afraid to face losses. A life time gambler does not expect all time win because he does that definitely he would lose games and win  some. And all gamblers are gambling to win and not to lose but losing is unpredictable.

I agree with all of this since as a gambler you should always be ready mentally for what to happen. They should know their limits in terms of financial and capacity to handle big emotions especially with losing. Loss is indeed unpredictable since gambling is a game of luck, there are times that you win, lose or breakeven. I think a skilled gambler have a great way of handling emotions since when we let emotion take over our actions, it doesn't result in good things. Gambling involves a lot of emotion, so just be ready to experience and control those.
747  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Power Or Money ? on: March 27, 2023, 09:11:21 AM
In my Country Nigeria, having money confers you with power, respect, and dignity. For me, I will go with money because every other thing shall be added unto me if there is money unless we are talking about physical power here.

As someone who comes from a country that majority of population are poor, Money is power since it is something that you can use to make yourself better in terms of living. Having money that supports not only your needs but also your wants is a way to see yourself as a powerful in terms of making yourself be engaged in the society. Let's be real that money runs everything but I don't say that it has no negative effects. Having more money is often depicted as someone who looks down to others. Well, that is just in terms of personality and it doesn't count you as being powerful. I think if you use money for the good of yourself and probably the people around you, without being above the others, it would be a great way to use money to be a powerful tool.
748  Economy / Economics / Re: Try to save money while you still can, will you ? on: March 27, 2023, 09:00:41 AM
If I were him, I would probably find another job, whatever the means, regardless of the income, so I can support myself and my family.
when you get a job, reduce your lifestyle to provide for your daily needs and your family.

The problem in finding a new job and if the salary is below than you past is that you will take time to adopt though it is still better than you dont have a job but still strive for more like find a job that is better or if not the same your previous salary so that you wont struggle and at the same time find another source of income and save because
For sure you learn your lesson from lossing your job so it is better to save for incase of emergency

I think if you are firm and confident with your ability, then you should know your value. I think being in a company for a decade created you enough credentials for your professional growth. However, if you just try to make it always bare minimum, I am not surprised that you would be offered with lower salary. Industries are becoming competitive and you should always go with the flow of making yourself be better than before. This instance really proves how important emergency fund is, that constitutes your five month salary, since it would help you survive the months without work while taking your time finding the best job and company.
749  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does your country tax your gambling winnings? on: March 27, 2023, 08:36:23 AM
I live in Australia and we have no taxes on all gambling winnings (lottery, hose racing, sports betting and casinos).
I know the USA has gambling taxes and I think it's ridiculous.
You are risking your own money and if you win you are penalised.
I'm curious as to how many other users have to pay taxes on their winnings.

In our country, any winnings from gambling that is below 185 USD is non taxable. If you exceeded with that, it is subjected to 20% flat rate that is based on the net value of winnings that considers the losses. I think there is tax since most of the gambling institutions are regulated by the government so they automatically deduct the taxes upon release of winnings. But in other cases, I think most people don't declare their winnings. I think it is right that government should tax it since it is still an income. Yes, you are risking your money, but then it is still considered as income since you might use it for your needs and wants. Well, that's just my opinion, but I can't blame those who complain on taxes since corruption is rampant and you can't really tell if it is worth to pay your taxes anymore.
750  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you think about this? on: March 26, 2023, 11:10:44 PM
I mean no disrespect to active gamblers but the truth is gambling is not sustainable and there is no guarantee of winning so relying on gambling for daily needs and as a career will be setting up yourself for disaster because you can't win over the house in a consistent manner.
Make no mistake, one can get lucky to win a lottery thereby changing the course of their life by diversifying their efforts but them also it takes sever discipline to be able to walk away with winning without being trick to risk it winning more thereby losing again.

I think some might disagree since they would argue that they can make a living out of gambling. But, I think, most of the people engaged in gambling had experience having majority of loss than win. So, I agree that it has really no guarantee that you could gain profit every time. This is not good when it would be the source of income for daily needs since it isn't stable enough to provide you your needs. Gambling is still a game of luck, so just be careful not to throw yourself into an unending cycle that might stuck you for no good.
751  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you trust the co-vid19 vaccine ? on: March 26, 2023, 10:50:29 PM
At this point there’s enough evidence out there showing you that the vaccine is not safe and you’re better off with natural immunity. It is clear that politicians used this pandemic to enrich themselves and sell a vaccine that they had been preparing since before any of us were familiar with the term Covid. This is going to go down as the biggest scam in human history if the truth comes to light.

I personally trust covid 19 vaccines since I believe in science. I believe that we had advanced our technology that these rapid actions of vaccine production is possible. But sometimes, this thought that we might have been scammed of these vaccines also comes in my mind since at this point of time where everything can be manipulated, this might be the truth. It is actually scary to think if this is true since greed already takes over humans that they do this thing of brainwashing the world. Let's just see what would be happen, and if this truth would be coming out soon.
752  Economy / Economics / Re: Is renting an inevitable waste of money? on: March 26, 2023, 10:40:14 PM
Renting is the best solution for workers from villages to cities, because they don't have enough money to buy it, and in my country to have a standard house, which the government provides through private companies, must have standard criteria, such as their salary in a city company , for $450 and must also be a permanent employee of the company. In addition, renting is lighter and with less financial responsibility and maintenance costs, as this is usually the responsibility of the landlord.

This is true since, for instance in our country, renting is the first choice for a common family since it is really costly to buy a lot and or house or property. This is paired with low minimum wages that results to incapability of most people to invest in housing. So, they really have no choice but to rent. But personally, I think renting is somehow waste of money since you are paying your stay only not the property that eventually goes into your name. So, it really depends on your mindset to whether see it as a good or bad thing.
753  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chasing looses Vs Finding closure: Any difference? on: March 26, 2023, 09:57:05 PM
I really need a clarification on this. Is chasing looses in gambling same as looking for closure because i recently read an article on reddit where the poster said that he will gamble untill he wins just to look for closure. I have been thinking about this for sometime now because closure has the same characteristics with chasing looses which is even when the gambler is loosing he will still be gambling just to recover all his looses.

Source:
https://www.reddit.com/r/gambling/comments/120jc8a/should_i_gamble_until_i_win_so_that_i_can_have_a/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=3&utm_content=share_button

I think you are right since his plan of playing until he wins doesn't guarantee that loses along thay way would be minimize. It is possible that he could be experiencing a lot of loses before he finally have that win so it isn't a win-win situation since you risk everything you have. It would be dilemma since if he wins quickly with low amount of loses, he might not that get that closure that he wants. So, probably, since you had made your choice to stop it, why not do it as soon as possible so that the risks would be low and it wont really hurt you financially.
754  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are Casino Sites Cheating Us? on: March 25, 2023, 02:18:17 PM
It takes a survey of several users on the same site with the same case to draw conclusions from what you are experiencing. There is nothing to deceive and be deceived in this case. You play and lose, that's natural because in a game there are winners and losers.

When you play against the system, you need to use brain intelligence, if you are greedy and want to win big quickly, defeat will never be far from you. Start playing with the brain not with lust, if you can get a win from a small bet, have fun with a small bet, at least when you leave the casino you can still bring home money.

I agree with this since, the conclusions from his experience are merely just a fraction of what should be looked at when claiming that there is some cheating mechanisms that is involved in this. I think that the gambling scene is not a guarantee of win, some may lose more, some wins more, some have it breakeven. I think there is no way that these casinos would interfere with the process since their integrity is much important. Just be reminded that gambling is still a game of luck, you can't guarantee something, probably just guarantee that you enjoy every game that you will have.
755  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which kind of situation will force you to sell? on: March 24, 2023, 11:41:46 PM
I would say if there is no requirement of money, then hold the coins as much as you can. These bitcoins are very much valuable. The reason I am saying this is that because, Bitcoins are limited in numbers, and as the time will pass the demand for the coin will increase. So the more time you hold, the more valuable it will become. So if there is no urgency of money, and you can survive without selling the Bitcoins, then kindly do it and hold the Bitcoins. I will only sell my coins, if there is some emergency funds required and I don’t have any other source to fund the emergency, then only I will sell my hard earned coins. I think many can relate with my situation.
The reason why if there are still opportunities to earn, then always take advantage of it. Because when unforeseen events start to happen, like emergency health issues on the family members, for me I would never hesitate to sell my coins if that’s the only way to resolve the problem. My family is my weakness, so in times their lives are at risk with pain, then definitively that situation alone can force me to sell most of my coins.

I think some would argue that before you invest in bitcoin, you must be sure that you have the emergency fund that you can use when these unforeseen events happen. But, sometimes there are instances that costs of these can't cover the fund you have, wherein I think this is the time for you to sell the investment you have in bitcoin. It is much better for you to sell it than make yourself be in the situation of loaning since this is much harder to handle.
756  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambler Loses 1.4 million USD in a bet with lower than 1.01 odds! on: March 24, 2023, 11:02:46 PM
It really makes us jealous to see that rich people can use their money whenever they want and for whatever they want. Even sometimes, they use the money to achieve their goals. But it could be that someone with a lot of money is confused about how he can use the money, so he plays gambling just to reduce the amount. I'm wondering if it has something to do with his gambling taxes or income tax if he spends a lot of money gambling or if he wants to get a break to pay his income taxes because he's already lost at gambling. That just crossed my mind, especially when famous people also lose money at the gambling table.
Yeah, they are free to decide where to spare their extra money unlike with ordinary people who are just relying with their salaries they are not capable in sparing money into gambling while rich people can some of them are good in making more money out from this industry, whales are a good example where rich people can continue making money while enjoying.

In some sense, there are also some rich people who fail and suffer from a big mistake that happened in their life.

I agree with this since those who are rich have a stable source of income through their businesses. They have steady cash flow that their own money, when played in gambling then loses, has no significant effect on their wealth. They are just there trying to increase their wealth and if they don't achieve it, then they basically doesn't lose that much. Also, I think those rich people have their own stories of success and defeat, and these experiences would be valuable for them to make decisions in regards to their gambling decisions.
757  Economy / Economics / Re: Poor and Rich on: March 24, 2023, 10:18:03 PM
We all know the quote "the rich get richer and the poor get poorer" I heard this quote when I was in high school now I'm grown up. I always wondering why?

Is it that the rich have already wealth the day they are born? Have savings and investment?

While the poor doesn't have any of those?

The point is I started in low before having some savings and investment. I'm not saying I'm already rich but I can say that I'm better than before. Can you guys share your ideas with this topic.

I think this quote has two main points. The first is that rich is getting rich, I think, is due to capitalism, where rich people are basically the entrepreneurs who knows how to make their money grow whatever the state of economy is. On the other hand, I believe that poor people are getting more poor since they don't know how to handle their money. But, I think the main factor for this to happen is the governments action toward these people. If the government don't do something like increasing wages that corresponds to increasing value of goods, the poor people would just have the money for them to survive. There wouldn't be a room for them to make themselves be better in terms of financial. As per your situation, I think you have the capacity to save money other than the money for your needs, so In the right mindset and planning of financial you could increase your financial soundness soon.
758  Economy / Economics / Re: What is your biggest obstacle to achieving financial freedom ? on: March 24, 2023, 03:32:24 PM
My biggest obstacle to achieving financial freedom is that I'm still young and easily tempted to be extravagant, if I'm alone of course I can save money, but when I'm with friends of course I'm wasteful, for example every week doing sports or cycling hobbies out of town and at night I have to stay at the hotel and make a lot of expenses big, and I plan to reduce or eliminate posts that make money wasteful so I can switch to this type of investment.

I can relate since I had just my first job and I can say that financial planning isn't my strong suit but I'm really working on it. But to be fair, it is really hard for me to manage since my salary is not that high but majority of it would be spent on bills and daily needs, I would be left with little money. I tend to give myself some reward most of the time so I sometimes treat myself with something, which makes me relentlessly buying something. But, I believe I can have my small step soon regarding financial freedom since I am trying to limit myself and save something. But, all in all, it is really hard.
759  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: who Want To Bet On 2024 USA elections? on: March 24, 2023, 02:56:24 PM
I think there would be some betting that would happen in the next elections. I see the USA Presidential Election as something that worldwide is watching since it is a major country where it affects most of the countries economy and other aspects. Regarding the elections on 2024, I think that it would be again a fight between Biden and Trump. I think this would be a close fight since Biden administration isn't that so perfect that it really unifies or make their supporters to be of stronghold. But, let's see what would happen, it is still a year, a lot could happen really.
760  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the biggest problem you think AI can fix in gambling on: March 24, 2023, 01:35:00 PM
I think AI could be used as a way to help minimize the addiction on gambling. I don't know much about the technical side of this but my idea is that AI could be a way to assess each individuals habit and probably finances since it could suggest ways to make you not lose all your money and as well not be addicted since there are signs before you reach that.
