It seems like only yesterday where we saw swings in the tens of dollars. It was literally ONLY last month where we saw swings in the hundreds of dollars. Today, we're acclimating ourselves to seeing swings in thousands of dollars per bitcoin. At this rate, sometime next year we could see swings in the tens-of-thousand-dollar range. I worked on the web-based version of DMT around 1999-2001. Great group of people down there. I was friends with Orlin before LFC and DMT, visionary guy. There's a lot of negative commentary on this thread about LFC and DMT. I didn't see that. Knowing Orlin, and what I saw in CR, they were a committed group with strong convictions working to do good. No one was trying to rip anyone off. The whole concept was ahead of its time. Definitely a precursor to BTC, perhaps a direct connection through some of the team members, not sure. I was not part of the core team, more of a mercenary to bang out code and get parts of the system built.
I'd really like to reconnect with any of the CR team from the old Nicaraguan embassy. Especially haxaw - if you get this, please ping me.

He and I worked on systems for capital markets together and he brought me into a project at LFC to build a web-based client for DMT. I visited the Costa Rica campus for about a week, I think back in '99 or thereabouts. Met a bunch of folks down there and stayed with a guy known as haxaw -- had a lot of late nights drinking rusty nails. LOL My team and I worked on the project remotely after that, our codenames were Mr. Black (me), Mr. White, Mr. Blue. I'm trying to see if I can reconnect with haxaw, but I never knew his real name. He's probably in his 50s or 60s now, and all I know is that he worked on the Linux kernel with Linus in the early days, and he also patented data networking over electrical power infrastructure in the UK. You'd think I could find him with that info, but it's been a while and the scent is fading. Did I meet you down there in CR? You probably wouldn't recall me, was just there for a brief time. I remember a girl down there who went by the codename Nova. She came to pick me up at the airport. You remember her? I guess I'm just trying to piece together recollections and reconnect with folks and see if there's a connection between DMT and the early concepts of bitcoin. There's some mythology building that some of the DMT team are actually Satoshi. Who knows. Could be a good movie in there somewhere. No, I wasn't down there. Hey everyone, It's crazy how many transactions are stuck at the moment I just saw some transactions worth $250 with a fee of almost $40!! My transactions from 2 days ago with a fee of $5 still haven't confirmed it's pretty messed up, isn't bitcoin known for the almost instant transactions? right now the network is as slow as a snail.  https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactionsI hope the bitcoin hype will settle down soon so our normal bitcoin users can continue their business, right now it's very expensive to send transactions. Have any of you guys have stuck transactions aswell or paid insane amounts fee? let me know i'm interested. ~yaking LOL, we haven't had "almost instant transactions" since this thing started. Much faster confirmation times with this, but never as quick as certain other major alts that typically confirm in 30 seconds or less This is people chasing the price, moving coins around to liquidate and ultimately, congesting the network. It's temporary, but is fueled when we give in to these high fees and raise them to use a coin. Don't do this! Would you pay extra to use a grid locked toll road? I need help ! I made a deposit in BTC a week ago and even now nothing has arrived! On the site I see 1320/3 confirmations... What is going on  I will tell you my friend what is going on. You clearly have not read through the last 5, 10, 50 or 100 pages of this thread. If you had you would not have deposited BTC into Ethconnect. Wait, what! They said that like math, there won't be any reading after high school, hence exiting the system in 8th or 10th grade, whichever one comes first, for I don't knows cuz by math teecher waz a dick. Yep, he's gonna launch himself 1,800 feet into the air, look at the window of his non-rotating rocket, then snap a pic of the horizon. Personally, I would've rented a helicopter and go two miles up to take the same pic with a 99.9999999999% better chance of landing safely after the experiment. Why nobody has never taken a pic of the horizon high up in an air balloon, we'll never know.
