Hey we are back on the voting thing again I see.

My proposal (again): 1 Account = 1 Vote. I don't think it can be done based on account balance. No way can that be fair.

Someone wants to create multiple accounts.....so what....let them. It will cost them and spread money to others.

Voting requirements: Account must have existed in the blockchain for 'n' of blocks before vote was initiated. Account must be a non-zero balance. (Will help cut down on multiple accounts).

Simple and quick. Could be implemented now, a website could even do it using the blockchain info until we get the VS inside NXT.

I'm honestly fine with this. One account = one vote. It's not going to prevent people from making 8,000 accounts, but that will be a lot of time invested for them if each account has to be funded.

This is flawed and can be massively manipulated

How so?

Copy and paste what mistafreeze wrote. Individuals with resources and a little determination easily flips this system on its head.

please read my reasoning here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg4626824#msg4626824

The worst of account based voting manipulation  can do it to approach stake based voting.

Damn good point.

I post on page 1000 from dairy queen, go back to the hotel, get up at zero dark thirty to go to the airport and spend the day in threee different jets getting home, check this thread, and 55 pages later everything is total bat crap crazy.

Hell yeah on getting listed at last on a first tier exchange and a 100 % price rise.

But this latest "somebody got my NXT" has pegged my paranoia needle again.  As far as I am concerned we have yet to get to the bottom of a single incident here even tho we tarred and feathered EpicThomas.  Something is STILL going on and it is bad.

I will say this again and again until I get Dev concurrence.  WE NEED TO IMPLEMENT AN OPTION TO ISSUE AN ACCOUNT FREEZE CODE BLOCKING OUTGOING NXT TRANSFERS THAT GETS CARRIED ALONG IN THE BLOCKCHAIN AS A MESSAGE UNTIL RESCENDED BY THE ACCOUNT OWNER VIA A SECOND DIFFERENT PASSWORD.

More later I gotta unpack and get caught up at home after being gone two weeks.  GO NXT!!!

Consider NEX  -  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=422052

Don't forget about ME TOO https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=422139.0 and NEM https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=422129.0 as well Smiley

Let's see how a "Free" crypto (initially) develops to one that has worth   Smiley

all this is going to mean is that scammers and give away thread spammers will be the power houses of this new currency. rather than people who actually payed for its development.

I already claimed 100% of ME.TOO.

I don't mean to sound negative, but I can't really see the distributed exchange being successful unless you build a p2p trollbox into the client.

Well obviously  Tongue

Also if anyone received bounties for their client and the source code is not to be released they have a moral obligation to return those bounties unless it was explicitely stated before receiving them.

Thank you, but I prefer to define my moral obligations myself.

Apart from that: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg4362239#msg4362239

The community and those that paid the bounties will determine your moral obligation.

My work began before bounty announcements(as well as Marcus03's IIRC), and while I don't have a whole lot of "code" involved with mine, payment for my work was never part of my motivation. Anything received (3501 NXT to be exact) was at the discretion of the donors (Thanks, BTW, whoever you are!) and requires no moral obligation on the part of any recipient. I don't believe he ever hid that his client was not open source...at least it's not a surprise to me.

Full disclosure: I have not received (nor do I expect) a bounty for my work, only personal donations.
773  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 17, 2014, 05:44:56 PM
Important announcement

BCNext devised a way to handover unclaimed coins in such a way that doesn't require multisig and still keeps the spirit of decentralization.

BCNext will choose 10 people. I'll contact these people privately to ask for an account id. Each of them will create a special account and send it to me. 1M NXT will be sent to each account (10M total, not 9M, so the community is supposed to subsidize the public nodes by itself). Jean-Luc will be asked to add a special code that blocks outgoing transactions from these special accounts. When the community decides how to spend part of the unclaimed coins, Jean-Luc will change the code to allow partial withdrawals possible. 10 chosen ones will send 1/10th of the required amount to the account the funds r supposed to go to.

Notes: Only account ids will be published, names of the people who control them will be known only to BCNext and me. Jean-Luc won't be included into this group. The goal of this obscurity is to remove community pressure on the chosen ones.

Discuss, the community may put veto on this approach.

I'm in favor Smiley

I would like to request that it all be sent to me, to be spent on hookers and blow.

I have to keep moral up, you know?

777  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT reward program clients on: January 14, 2014, 01:15:27 PM
I'm not sure I should even be considered here as my work isn't actually a client, it's just an installer for the reference client. I think it fits better as a utility? Maybe?

I was working on one, but others have a much better start than I do, and I'm not a Windows Desktop developer, so I've decided not to flood the place with a bunch of crap.

Guys, I want maco to get rewarded full for his project from the 13M unclaimed coins.

If not I will stop promoting too and just pay my dev team (mainly to get experience so we can get involved in other projects too in the future).

Me, bybitcoin and 2-3 other stakeholders are the only ones paying for bounties atm.

What about BCNext? And the other stakeholders? Not to mention the 75M of Graviton to whom we must feel obliged of course because he is still in loss from the dgex business...

I don't like this..

yeah I wonder what goes into the stake holders heads!?!?

timeline?

what do you mean by timeline? When it be done?
I would think for an ok developer not some genius but average one like myself it will be probably between 20-30 days to create a really nice looking and full with functionality application that can wrap around the current way nxt works and present same functions. Obviously a full open source project.
Also it will include a windows dll with api calls so that developer can integrate relatively easy with other systems.
I have not spend to much time on this just set up a working WPF window fom this open source http://mui.codeplex.com/
and added a dll wrapper to be filled in with all the nxt API functions. Added a simple way to run the java and to unlock account, oh and to show that the server is working hahaha
If you copy and extract this zip https://www.dropbox.com/s/pbrkd474aj6iqbo/NXTmanager_APP.zip into your nxt folder and make sure the nxt server is not started, double click the NXTManager and it will load the server and let you open an account. Not much in it but it just needs to be filled in with code now.
DONT PUT REAL ACCOUNT PASSPHRASE it was never ever tested!!!
Here is the source of NXTManager https://www.dropbox.com/s/q0tdxmswq4n1nin/NXTmanagerSource.zip
Here is the source of the NXTAPIWRAPPER https://www.dropbox.com/s/k4vxi2o69r1r2i8/nxtAPIwrapperSource.zip
Obviously we need installer, auto updates etc yeah there is work to be done haha

EDIT: Forgot the link to the zip with the exe, sry https://www.dropbox.com/s/pbrkd474aj6iqbo/NXTmanager_APP.zip

That is some seriously great work!!

My installer for Windows 7 was something quick and easy to throw together, and just as easy to maintain. I had just started on the backend of a Windows client with auto-update and yada yada, but I'm an ASP.Net dev, not so much Windows Desktop. Threading is something that so far eludes me for the most part. It's good to see someone who knows what they're doing going down this road Smiley
779  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 09, 2014, 07:23:04 PM
BTW why isn't the .bat file included in the zip ?

Because of platform independence

However, there is a subproject that maintains a Windows Installer.

installer W7 is not up to date I think.

I update everytime there is a new release.

It's good to see some reasonable behavior in here for a change!

Just for the record before I delete the unauthorized advertisement on nextcoin.org, such an obvious agenda for downplaying competition on their own yard - and trying to score the points home for that is, well, almost tragicomic;

There are a number of reasons you may want to consider:

According to DGEX's website, NXT withdrawals are currently delayed from their normal schedule. NXT withdrawals are 0.9%. BTC withdrawals are 1.4% - 2.8% depending on your desired speed.
Nxtchg, another NXT exchange, is handling trades manually.
    Peercover offers free, automated trading.
Peercover deposits/withdrawals, in my experience, have executed within just a few hours (more info on this later in the guide).

We need to create a market in the most advantageous environment! Now which one sounds better to you: trading in an environment with or without fees? Manually operated or automated? Calling all rational investors!

These are factual statements. Are you trying to prevent freedom of speech?

I think that does it for now... thanks nxtgt for visiting our DGEX sponsored forum and good luck for your business!  Wink

Not going to say whether I think what Gravitron said is right or wrong, but when you walk into someone's house and talk shit on their children, they're not gonna sit back and take it. Your guide would've just as educational without the pot shots at DGEX.
