761  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Terrible Experience with Bets of Bitcoin / Bitbet on: November 20, 2013, 11:33:16 PM
Thieves seldom prosper. You had to buy your trust. You have to rip people off at your betting site (don't say you're not connected) and your exchance is a ponzi, money laundering scheme. You literally can't do anything honestly.

Sue me. I could do with the discovery documents. A new age of bitcoin has come. People like you need to get out.  But you will be held accountable in the end. Scum

MP sez quote that shit so I do. Apparently he thinks you're very funny or something, I dunno.
762  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Terrible Experience with Bets of Bitcoin / Bitbet on: November 20, 2013, 11:25:50 PM
I wouldn't be so sure. Taking into consideration that the site is a .com it falls under US law, even though it is registered to a costa rican guy. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be so hard to take it down legally.

O Mighty Money Morpheus, please have mercy with your takings down legally.

Are you as cool as the guy in the Matrix? Very original, seriously. Your mommy must be so proud....

PS. Great signature. Here's a thought: dweebs growing bud on the quiet should not be on the internet talking about "taking shit down legally". You're lucky nobody with any actual RL presence is bored enough, you know?
763  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Terrible Experience with Bets of Bitcoin / Bitbet on: November 20, 2013, 11:19:11 PM
Are you directly involved with the site?

My involvement is basically that there was a group of idiots derping in this thread and I joined the fray. Why?
764  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Terrible Experience with Bets of Bitcoin / Bitbet on: November 20, 2013, 11:12:56 PM
In addition to the suggestions in this thread; under each bet on bitbet, there is an unmoderated discussion page where you can talk about this issue with other bitbettors.

This is working admirably well. I think MP likes you even.

bitbet won't last too long unless they change that rules and return the coins. They have a chance to get out of this gracefully.

mp might be saying it's all fine and dandy but it's not.

BitBet will be here long after you're long gone. It's just the way these things work.

- MPOE-PR is the ONLY one in this thread suggesting that Bitbet is right in keeping the stolen money.
- MPOE-PR has some association with Bitbet, and this is likely the reason he is defending it.
- Bitbet has blatantly stolen $6,000 of BTC that does not belong to them.
- I would suggest finding out the details of who owns Bitbet and threatening a suit if they don't return the BTC.

Dude, seriously? He? Still? Lurk moar.
765  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Terrible Experience with Bets of Bitcoin / Bitbet on: November 20, 2013, 10:37:49 PM
Wow Snackman,

Thank you for raising awareness about this important issue. I'm sorry you had to pay the price of losing 10 BTC to frauds. Now the community knows. I hope this issue is resolved quickly. I would much prefer those who received your bitcoin simply return it to your address, since no services were rendered. It wouldn't seem right for a company to take 10 BTC after *no* services were rendered, and just say, "Oh well, it says in the fine print that we can steal from you. Sux! Lol!"

I just tweeted about it. Hopefully they will do what is right and return what is yours.

Quoting this inept sockpuppeting for the future lols.

You fucktards, seriously. Get a life and more importantly: get over yourselves.

I probably shouldn't even ask, but what does this mean? I don't get it.

It's a jab at your virginity.
766  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Terrible Experience with Bets of Bitcoin / Bitbet on: November 20, 2013, 09:43:37 PM
Right. Let's look at an example of this "I'm going to recklessly and stupidly throw my BTC around without the slightest clue of what I'm doing and then demand that the people who get hit with my projections fix my problems for me" at work:

Quote
23:20:00 dub: snackman: its unfortunate for you yes, perhaps you should try to understand what youa re dealing with next time

23:21:06 snackman: dub That's an unnecessarily moralistic approach, and furthermore a hallmark of self-affected geeks' fear/loathing of the mainstream, which I think is misplaced in this instance

23:21:15 assbot: [MPEX] [S.MPOE] 12500 @ 0.0008353 = 10.4413 BTC [-]

23:21:24 mike_c: snackman: here it is without snark. say your bet lost. all you would have to do is send a different transaction with a fee that would get confirmed first and you didn't lose anything.

23:21:47 snackman: bitbets, if it would like to be a great service, should make itself easy to understand and operate, and not have stupid rules like this one

23:22:38 snackman: mike_c I don't understand

So that's:

1. Deciding you're ready for BTC either without knowing or without caring about transaction fees;
2. Deciding you're ready for betting without knowing or without caring about the way betting services work;
3. Betting when the resolution criteria being met was an imminent event;
4. Using Bets of Bitcoin without having done any due diligence, which would have revealed that they're pretty much useless, for reasons including their lack of using tx fees;
5. Not reading or not caring about BitBet's FAQ and the open, fully explained, warnings about the rare potential for this very situation on this very forum;
6. Insisting that it's other people who are stupid, such that those who were attempting to help you out lost interest in your ranting.

That you have the gall to suggest that it's someone other than yourself that dropped the ball is pretty incredible.

What's the best way to organize a boycott / raise awareness?

Something like this perhaps.

This is stealing and the behavior of the owners/operators is outrageous, in my opinion. That policy is completely unjustifiable and I hope nobody uses this site until it's changed.

Back on planet Earth, the reason you've not been used is that you have yet to change. GLWT.
767  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BTC-Consulting on: November 20, 2013, 04:36:17 PM
I'm not ignoring the Web of Trust. Wink I'm aware about that, about bitcoin-otc, and bitcoin IRC, of course.

Thanks for your reply Hannah.

Ah, well cool then. And you're certainly welcome.
768  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcon taxes on: November 20, 2013, 04:07:45 PM
What if for governments to tax bitcoin they tax a percentage of all the fees that are included with the blocks.

Why?
769  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Coinbase defrauding customers, misleading ! on: November 20, 2013, 02:35:57 PM
I have no reason to believe they won't make things right for me, whitelist my account, and push my order through as the original exchange rate. Despite the stress of the situation (the opportunity cost of my canceled orders is big for me), I must be patient and not go off the rails as many people have. Coinbase seems to be lacking customer support power at this time, but that doesn't mean they aren't an honest, trustworthy company who will make things right if only we're patient.

Right, because

Coinlab/Coinbase/Coincrap - Multiple cases of stealing from users through the "canceling BTC sale when price goes up" scam, amplified by "pay anyone complaining on the forum" double-down. In any event their burn rate takes them out of the picture this year, so damage should be limited, but try and sit at a safe distance.

This doesn't make it any better than another Ycombinator failure.
770  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: COINBASE IS A BUNCH OF THIEVES. on: November 20, 2013, 02:31:09 PM
They make themselves out to be a reliable way to obtain BTC, but can't actually fulfill that role. They make posts here saying that they regularly review cancelled transactions and push them through at the original rate, but rarely ever do, unless it seems it's for a bit of PR.

They role out a failed system and sucker people into using it all the while benefiting from their own mistakes.

This.

Put your faith in Ycombinator-backed ventures, trust in people who declare themselves "founders" on the basis of having a website and a few promises, and prepare to be disappointed, likely when you'd least expect it.
771  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: COINBASE RIPPED ME OFF $50k. *WARNING WARNING WARNING* on: November 20, 2013, 02:27:14 PM
IF bitcoin was regulated in the USA by something similar to the SEC/NFA/or CFTC then this would bring audits, lawsuits, and eventually large fines and possible closure of the company.

People shouldn't have to hire babysitters in lieu of reading.

This is how Ycombinator projects work.

Going by the density of forum complaints I'd venture a guess that even the double-down has by now proved to be too consuming.

Good luck in any case, OP.

5 days ago I bought 2 btc @ 320 each. Today the btc suppose to be clear in my coinbase account @ 615 each, When suddenly i receive a coinbase email stating that the transaction is suspicious and my money has been reversed.

I had almost $100k back and forward with coinbase for the past year and never had any problems at all but today they shut my transactions because of this bitcoin raise.
Not a good strategy for coinbase.

Sorry to hear it.

This is how Ycombinator projects work.

Is it a coincidence that the value of bitcoins had also gone up considerably from the time I submitted my purchase?

No. This is how Ycombinator projects work.

774  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase can't keep up with demand on: November 20, 2013, 02:15:16 PM
I logged into Coinbase today, and got this message:

Quote
Note! We've exceeded our normal buy limits for today. If you would still like to purchase you will receive the market price of bitcoin on Friday Nov 22, 2013 at 10:18AM CST after your funds have arrived.

Due to higher than normal buy volumes, we are unable to provide exact price quotes right now.

Instead of pausing buys entirely, we decided to give people the option to purchase bitcoin at the market price in a few days. Once your USD funds arrive, we will exchange them to bitcoin at the market price at approximately Friday Nov 22, 2013 at 10:18AM CST.

Note that you can cancel your order at any time up until your bitcoin arrive from the transfer history page.

The market price of bitcoin changes frequently. Below are some recent prices to give you an idea. These do not guarantee what the price will be in a few days.

Sucks. Expect a whole lot more of this, just as you could've expected it since February:

If coinbase is not classified as a scam it's purely for semantic reasons. Functionally they're as shady as it gets.

This is what happens with the Ycombinator crowd.
775  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase - Hands down the most unprofessional Bitcoin service I've dealt with on: November 20, 2013, 02:11:43 PM
Nasty. This is pretty much how it goes with Ycombinator stuff tho':

Just another shady ycombinator product. This is their MO. For instance their flagship airbnb thing pretty much consists of enticing ignorant people into breaking the law (yes, it's illegal to rent your rented place to third parties most anywhere in the civilized world) in order to make a few pennies. Basically the breakdown is, you partner with airbnb, stranger pays you fifty bux to mess up your place while you're away, airbnb collects twenty, you pay 2-5000 dollars in fines a coupla months later. Ycombinator business.

Just on the strength of the appallingly scammy record anything coming out of there should be regarded with extreme caution, but then coinbase/coinwhatever in particular is a pretend-company that took a little venture capital last year, pranced around Bitcoin making taakiesque claims and statements all the while failing to develop anything like a revenue stream or a product of any utility.

They will be running out of money later this year. Show some common sense and use one of the very numerous alternatives that actually work today rather than regret it tomorrow. Just a little PSA seeing how most everyone in the know seems to prefer not to talk about the scum and the noobish and naive get regularly fleeced.

776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We were wrong on: November 20, 2013, 01:53:47 PM
There were no enemies of bitcoin.

The real enemies are us here in forum, we the people collectively are the enemies of bitcoin.

We drive the price up and crash it back down. No one else can do it except the market.

We scare away the newbies, we make excuses to why the blockchain is not confirming, we don't provide solutions or a calculator to compute transaction fees, and much much much more.

In return they (savvy investors, mums and dads, and elitists) will punish "we the people" by ignoring bitcoins and then the value will plunge to zero.

The governments don't even need to regulate it, we will destroy bitcoin ourselves.

A little excessive maybe, but still a good point.
777  Economy / Securities / Re: [ANN] BTCINVE.COM btc investment exchange on: November 20, 2013, 01:41:55 PM
So where is MPEX?

The subjects of MPEx' invulnerability to the fear and paranoia of Boogeymania has been thoroughly and amply covered: 1, 2, 3.

You can either be honest, competent, and consistent, which means you'll be left standing when those who don't match up crumble, or else you can imagine that good intentions and whatever other candy sprinkles might be enough because you're special, which means you'll be crumbling. The involvement of any third party has no bearing on the facts of this divide.
778  Economy / Securities / Re: [ANN] Crypto-Trade now allowing users to create their own securities! on: November 20, 2013, 01:30:44 PM
The desire of the clueless to follow the path that allows them to continue to be stupid, even in the face of multiple instances of proof that being this clueless leads to heavy losses, still manages to be astounding.

It doesn't matter how much you whine, or how much you wish that it wasn't the case; a bad idea is a bad idea, and no amount of posturing or complaining at me will change the fact.
779  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BTC-Consulting on: November 20, 2013, 01:22:40 PM
Thanks Mircea for your post.
I've actually red your post about starting a bitcoin business a while ago, and I agree with your points.

I would also define "what is a bitcoin business", and you certainly know the answer, since you're running on of these.
My point is that most of the services announced on this forum aren't "bitcoin businesses" but "bitcoin related businesses", and actually those "bitcoin related businesses" are "USD businesses".

Regarding my business, this is clearly a "bitcoin related business", billed in USD, accepting BTC as a mean of payment.

The idea is to bring BTC to the real world, helping clients to get bitcoins, trade it, accept it in their business, and being aware of the market facts and figures before going into it.

My question to you: do you believe that there is a space for such a service?

Mr. P doesn't have a forum account. My name's Hannah, I just do PR here.

Anyway, if you'd like to cater to people not currently into BTC, that's fine and well, but ignoring the WoT will deny you the relevant credentials should you wish to transact with any actual players, both now and in the future. It'd also set a pretty poor precedent for those entities you'd like to serve.

If you'd like Mr. P's opinion on the possible demand for the service you'd like to offer, you'll have to ask him, of course.
780  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Terrible Experience with Bets of Bitcoin / Bitbet on: November 20, 2013, 12:50:06 PM
I sincerely have no idea why someone puts bitcoin in that place after seeing that rule.

If a couple of pools were interested in fucking up MP's reputation, they could start taking longer to include transactions into blocks if bitbet addresses are involved. Just take care to not wait for way too many blocks, otherwise the pool's reputation get fucked.

Why do people who have no idea about anything (such as you) feel the need to prove it in writing? Go start a pool, fail, then see why the pools that succeed don't fuck with the Central Bank of Bitcoin.
