sorry didn't realize there was a distinction
Should be pretty clear once it's out and you can have a try hands on.
I for myself can't wait (beta testing just isn't the same).

Hahaha definitely looking forward to it, regardless if its other real players or the computer. Do we know how smart the computer is?

It his PVP poker or is it against the computer?
It's Videopoker (which implies it's Player vs. Bankrolls).
There won't be any multiplayer option.

I hope I can test the game in your site immediately
We're currently in the final testing stage. There's still a few minor fixes to be made, but it will be ready to go soon.

sorry didn't realize there was a distinction

Any word on what the promotion is exactly?

Hi fiscorcle, we will not release more information until we get closer to the launch date.

Lol how much closer can we get? Seems like we're on the cusp already

Are you still planning to refund ICO investors if you don't reach 2000 BTC raised?
769  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it better to save money or invest it? on: December 14, 2016, 09:16:55 PM
I've never understood why people, especially people here who gamble and trade a lot and generally waste a lot of money, don't just buy 0.5 BTC today and hold it for perpetuity. If it goes th rough the roof, you're set. If nothing happens, well, at least you have 0.5 BTC give or take. There's such limited risk...

What the actual f Dooglus?  Blatant Libel?

You know very well that we don't take that much commission and you are intentionally misleading our customers and directly hurting us on purpose (70 Bitcoin withdrawn immediately after your comment).

I should probably let Dooglus speak for himself, but you perhaps misread what he wrote. He didn't say that investors make 15% of the EV, he's saying they have made of the EV. I don't see any error or misguidance in his statements.

Perhaps a better response would've been "Hey, our investors made 50% of what they should've. Yours only 30%"  or something. ( I <3 twisting statistics)

But anyway, I think perhaps the bigger concern is most people don't really understand the difference between "Expected Value" and "Expected Bankroll Growth" and just assume that if they're +EV they should expect the bankroll to grow, but the reality is if the bankroll is over leveraged that's not the case.

I'm not sure when MoneyPot switched from the kelly system, but some time after it did I warned of the risks and provided a simulator that showed how investors should expect to lose money. That was posted on April 18, where I recorded the investor profit at 101 BTC, and it's currently 62 BTC and have had substantial dilution in the mean time.

As much as I love to say I was right, it could also be attributed to other factors. But it's probably worth entertaining the possibility that running a bankroll at -BRG is a horrible idea.

That said, I have no problems with letting people do what ever they want (we're all consenting adults) but I suspect if the wording was a bit more clear: "By investing here you get 30% of the EV, but should expect to lose money over the long term if whales play on the site" it might result in less investment. Or maybe not, maybe the investors like to also passively gamble.  Grin

I did read what he wrote.  He also knows exactly how it would sound.

He was purposely trying to make it seem like it's worse off than it actually is.  He is an expert about equity and yet he is basing it off of results.

Dooglus isn't stupid.  He knows what he was doing.

I mean it's not as though MP has had a great couple of months...everyone should just chill out and play
773  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 14, 2016, 08:27:11 PM
Ledger uses a smartcard element that is proprietary so Ledger is not fully open source. Trezor has already stated they have no time for Monero ATM as they are working on getting Trezor 2 to market. Next to Ledger Jaxx has been making noise about integrating Monero but found it way more complicated than they expected, if they actually do they have the Ice Cube hardware wallet planned for early 2017.

Jaxx should focus on getting all the basic BTC features into its wallet rather than focusing on other stuff...

775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BetKing.io ICO - Bitcoin Gambling website - 581.4 BTC raised so far on: December 14, 2016, 07:47:40 PM
I've updated the original post to hopefully clear up some of the questions asked in this thread.

The main changes are under the headers: Shares, Distribution, Dividends and Exit Strategy, posted below too.
I hope things are more clear now. Thanks to everyone who helped get the words out better Smiley and all the investors so far.

Feel free to ask anything else you still think is missing.

Shares:
BetKing will create 100,000,000 tokens (100 million) to to represent 100% shares of BetKing, currently owned fully by me.
No new tokens will be created.

30,000,000 (30%) of these tokens will be be sold to investors during the ICO period and distributed at the end of the fund raising period.

The remaining 70,000,000 (70%) will remain in the ownership of me as my 70% equity in BetKing.

The funds raised by selling these shares will be loaned by me interest free back to the company to use for expenses and bankroll.

Distribution:
ICO starts at December 1st 2016 at 0:00 UTC and ends at January 1st 2017 at 0:00 UTC.
After the ICO has ended, 30,000,000 shares will be distributed proportionately if the target of 2000 Bitcoin or more is raised.
E.g. if we collect 2000 BTC and your investment is 200 BTC, you'll receive 3,000,000 shares.

These shares will be added to your BetKing account where you will be able to trade with other members on the BetKing website.

Dividends:
We will pay dividends as a share of the total profit (revenue-expenses) generated by BetKing in Bitcoin directly to your BetKing account every 3 months if the total capital is greater than the 2000 Bitcoin loan.
You can withdraw your Bitcoin dividend payment instantly to your own wallet.
This may change to be more frequent, e.g. a month, after the first dividend payment.

For example:
Assume revenue from players losses were 300 Bitcoin in the first three months.
Imagine we paid 5 Bitcoin for fixed cost expenses, 10 Bitcoin on banner ads and 10 Bitcoin on developer contract.
After the 3 months we have 2000 (the initial loan) +300-5-10-10=2275.
275 profit.

So the investors from the ICO would get a dividend share of 82.5 (30% of 275) paid into their BetKing account.
I would be paid 192.5 (70%)

The business would have 2000 Bitcoin left in it from the intial loan.

Another example:
In 3 months players win 100 Bitcoin playing dice.
We paid 5 Bitcoin as fixed expenses (server, cloudflare etc).
We spent 10 Bitcoin on some banner ads.
We spent 10 Bitcoin on a contract developer.

After the 3 months we have 2000-100-5-10-10=1875.
-125 profit.

So there are no dividends to be paid as there was no profit in this time.

The business would have 1875 Bitcoin left in it and no dividends would be paid until this amount was over 2000 again.

Exit Strategy:
If BetKing were to be closed for any reason or lost market share to where it stopped generating profit then the initial loan would be paid back to me and then any extra funds left in the business not paid out as dividends yet would be split 30% to investors and 70% to me.
Any assets including the software could be sold and 30% of the sale price distributed to investors.

HOWEVER if BetKing was forced to close suddenly within 3 months of the ICO then all existing funds in the business at that point would be used to pay investors back as close to their full initial investment as possible before I took any share.

There’s also the possibility in future for BetKing to be acquired by a bigger company in which investors will share 30% of the total sale price after the initial loan is paid back to me.

Have you decided if you're actually going to make a tradeable coin yet? That would be really awesome, the first real stock I think
776  Economy / Securities / Re: Bitstamp investment opportunity at bnktothefuture? Unimpressive... on: December 14, 2016, 06:31:48 PM
so it would take 32 years (or 16 assuming 0.2% avg fee) to pay back. Of course it's likely the volume will go up, however BTC price will do the same  Smiley Therefor I think it's way better to simply buy BTC.
If you simply buy BTC then for you to profit, the price of BTC needs to increase. However it is possible that BTC will fall by the wayside and some altcoin will reach the level of success that many think BTC will have. If you buy shares in bitstamp (or any other exchange), then that exchange simply needs to allow for trading in that altcoin, and have heavy trading volume in that altcoin for it to be successful.

Bitfinex is not worth $200MM valuation. This is self explanatory.
With Bitfinex's BFX tokens trading at 0.525, the valuation is closer to $100 MM

Bitfinex made over $6 $7 MM in income last year, and $7$6 MM in income through July of this year.

I would not say that the valuation of Bitfinex is all that outrageous. The high level of debt the company has might be a concern though.

$6MM income, is that revenue or net profit?

Even assuming its net profit, $6MM on a $200MM valuation (the fact their debt tokens are selling cheaper than face value does not diminish the valuation they have put on it) is beyond obscene (3% yearly growth). They are already a market leader (there will be no quick growth from here on out), still huge risk of failure (regulatory, crippling debt, terrible 5 forces situation etc) on top of a management team that has proven itself to be incompetent. This is a very pricey investment for the amount of risk involved.

They should be looking a valuation closer to $50MM.
In 2015, Bitfinex had $9.349 MM in revenue, 2.322 MM in expenses, and net income of $7.027 MM; in 2016 through July, they had $8.017 MM in revenue, $2.000 MM in expenses and a net income of $6.017 MM, which was on track to be roughly $10 MM in income for the year. (It looks like I may have previously gotten the last year and YTD through July figures mixed up).

On a YoY basis, both revenue, and net income have grown by double digits from last year.

If a potential investor wanted to buy equity in Bitfinex, they could purchase BFX tokens at a discount, and convert those BFX tokens into Bitfinex (or the entity that is actually selling shares on Bnktothefuture), giving an effective valuation of closer to $100 MM. If an investor wanted to buy a large amount of shares, does not already own BFX tokens, then their buying of BFX tokens would likely push up their effective valuation because the price of the BFX tokens would likely increase.

Bitfinex could potentially increase their revenue/income by introducing new products, for example, I have heard them talking about offering deliverable options, and new trading pairs that generates high trading volumes.

In regards to your valuation estimate, an appropriate valuation is a conclusion that needs to be made by an investor considering to invest.

If you take these numbers and do a discounted cash flow on this and assume even just 5% growth per year with 2% growth into perpetuity, with a 15% cost of capital (probably either low or high), one could argue that this 2% stake is worth at best just $1.4mm. 5% growth is probably adventurous at this point without further cryptocurrency expansion, and a 15% WACC is probably a bit low for a company that operates in such a grey area, legally speaking. I'd wager there aren't many banks or financial institutions willing to give BitFinex a loan at market rates.

Of course, that $1.4mm is assuming there isn't any debt or preferred / convertible shares that we don't know about.

That's honestly thing I take most issue with - all of these companies are assuming that just because we invest in bitcoin and we invest online that we don't need to see detailed financials and other information that normal investors would receive without a second thought. Bitstamp should really be putting out a presentation or something to try and entice investors

Any news on when the Q1 GUI project is going to be completed. Eagerly waiting for it.... Hoping it by January or early..

I was very wrong at all kind of Crypto speculations. But I give tiny chances that GUI will be out after 5th January.

the gui is likely already priced in
xmr is a nice project ,my only worry is so many other coins are coming to the party
with privacy features ......
hopefully the XMr network effect will be too strong.......

Really, any already announced features have already been priced in by the market...

Have you thought about partnering up with someone who can do the marketing?  If it sparks interest let me know.  I am curious to see where the bidding goes to as well, I will be making my bid later on. I think this has the potential to make a good size profit.  Who currently works on the maintenance of it?  Also where is it hosted and how will you transfer the site?  Do you offer support making sure it is set up properly on a new server?

I agree! This is a pretty good looking site here, looks like if functions pretty well here
780  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🌟🎲🌟 MoneyPot.com on: December 14, 2016, 03:50:12 PM
if [...] you are inferring that one of our team is cheating the bankroll, you would be incorrect

I don't see how you can be certain of that. Why is it not possible that one of the team is cheating the bankroll, given that people other than yourself have access to the server and could cheat in an undetectable manner.

I am in since profit was 425+ BTC.  Current profit is around 85 BTC.

Is booking loss and divesting good?  I do not see any sign that it will go up anytime soooooon. Sad Sad Sad Sad

According to https://dicesites.com/moneypot the profit is 541.6 BTC, but 334.7 BTC (62%) went to the app owners and 126.4 BTC (23%) went to MoneyPot itself, leaving just 80.4 BTC (15%) for the investors. I'm not sure how that is worked out, but when investors are taking ~100% of the risk it doesn't seem fair that they get only 15% of the profit when the expected and actual profits are so close together. It's like the investors are paying an 85% commission on their profits.

To the extent that (a) you will not need your investment in the medium term, (b) trust that the owners of MP are not cheating the owners of the bankroll and (c) believe that MP will continue to have similar or greater betting volumes then you should keep your investment.

Do also need to (d) trust that there isn't some exploit allowing a third party to cheat.

What the actual f Dooglus?  Blatant Libel?

We take 20% of the house edge (less than Dean's 25% of house edge and 25% profit, or Bit-Dice's 30% of house edge), give 50% of the house edge to app owners (because there are multiple sites that investors connect to), and investors are subject to 30% of the house edge.

Those are expected percentages though....your % and the app owners % are guaranteed, but not investors
