Just unboxed a couple S5's I bought a while back and found one of them had obviously been used excessively.  It has soot all over the heatsink.  I have submitted a WTF email to Bitmain...I guess they really are going downhill Sad

Let us know how it goes!  That was not the "2nd hand" unit was it?
It was still a batch that showed new right?
Bitmain has been doing this for quite some time now - Passing off obviously used and dirty units as "brand new". I've received dirty and used "brand new units" myself.

It had been a while since the last "batch" of miners so they were plugged in for quite a bit compared to earlier batches I think.    The raising of prices made less sells I think and then the batch kept lasting.

And I do give them credit to mark these right now as 2nd hand.   They have all been run in a data center for a while, so the status change of new was the right thing to do.

I'm not unrealistic I know they need to be running and cant sit in a box.  But I like the more honest status change.
7662  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S5 power suply on: July 28, 2015, 03:39:04 PM
I'm not sure where OP is located, but in Ontario the subsidized tariff for selling rooftop PV-energy back to the supplier is $0.384/kWh (US$0.30).  If you are going to build solar, you are better off selling it to the utility and buying it back at market rate...

And yes, server PSU's are superior to ATX in all regards to bitcoin mining except the ability to install them in a PC afterwards.

Honestly look into hosting somewhere with much cheaper electricity.  Solar is just to expensive for the gear since with mining you use a lot of watts.

If you send it to a place with low electricity price you will make more profit.  The solar is a long term investment.

7665  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Exactly one year away from block halving on: July 28, 2015, 11:08:35 AM
Can't wait to see the price 1 or 2 month before halving. This is gonna be war in hell!  Grin

It's going to get interesting that is for sure.  I want to see what price does once we get closer.

I don't want to see what it will to do to mining, I'm afraid of havings effects there.
7666  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitcoin cloud mining on: July 28, 2015, 10:33:02 AM
can any please tell me which is the best for bitcoin cloud mining. how much minimum profit i will get daily.

Look over at the beginners thread there is a entire thread for cloud computing.

Biggest set of advice is be careful lots of scam companies. Look into the company a lot before sending cash

Thanks for the vouches guys Smiley
Hey, did you get my PM?  I sent one to you a couple days ago, no response... or was it my problem? :O

I did reply?
Ill PM you again.

Thanks for the vouches guys Smiley

I'm a bit confused. Is the new version you are selling 100% working? Some people said it wasn't?
And will any future updates or fixes to this product be free from now on or will they also come at a price? In other words, do you intend to raise the price soon?

Yes, it works fine. Anyone who had problems has had them fixed Smiley
No, no more paid upgrades for a long while, next free update will be slideshow/quiz support.

As your terms were added before without any notice please put exact date you guarantee to.  With how you added update cost "long while" is to vague. Can you tell us exact date?

For what it's worth I'm still trying to decide if I want to update.  Just having hard time because of principle.

well wha happened to you did you resigned i guess no maybe a ban from signature? to omany posts always atract bad eyes lol

he got a negative from badbear so he can't enroll on any high paying signature campaign. I think he got a negative feedback just after he got paid tho.

he wasn't payed because apparently he is an alt of a scammer, it was a suspect user from the beginning, he apperead from no where and start spamming a lot, probably an alt made many months ago to be used now or in the case of a ban

i think there are many that are doing so with signature campaign , since it's the best earning

I honestly hate the selling of accounts.   That account joined a high paying signature campaign, and did a LOT of posts.  I'm not sure if anyone else looked at his but the quantity was quite large.  I'm not sure the quality was there on all of them.

BadBear though with that feedback would have fixed it as no sig campaign will want him now.  Also he has not signed in for a day so I wonder if he got a temp ban for it.

7674  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to earn Bitcoins? on: July 28, 2015, 05:49:28 AM
For me best way to earn bitcoin are signature campaign, pay per click service that paid with bitcoin like bitmedia.io or a-ads, sell your own skill on fiverr they're accepted bitcoin to
and sell your stuff on cryptothrift

The best way to earn bitcoin is...
Get a full time job any buy yourself some bitcoins.
You are not earned from doing that, you only bought a coins, not totally earned. I think you should get a job here in this forum like selling your services or joining in signature campaign then sell it or exhcange it into fiat money. Thats the way.

You could earn USD.  Buy BTC if it goes up in value technically you gain value.  So does not gain BTC, but gain on when it goes up in value.

For me mining, and sig campaign are main things.  Sig campaigns is because I am always on the board lurking.
7675  Other / Meta / Re: Just what is theymos all about? on: July 28, 2015, 05:47:04 AM
I'm sure it is BadBear. He is the "Crowned Prince" of bitcointalk.

BadBear does a lot for the forum.  I know he is always very busy with it.  But he always gets back to you once he gets to your issue.

I hope is high on the list.  Anything he get's is well earned.
7676  Other / Meta / Re: Newbie PM warning on: July 28, 2015, 05:45:11 AM
cant you just put this message for imposter/similar names instead of all "newbies" Huh  Roll Eyes
i feel my name is unique.  (this was unexpected degradation, i would have chosen another communication channel...)
thanks

that will require Theymos and/or Badbear or whoever to manually keep track of EVERY new users that have a similar name with some other user. that's too much trouble for nothing little benefits.

Speaking of "newbie" i refer to design flawn in this particular status: I may have not been posting much,  yet not new either.  (Other status may be less flawned, yet crypto currencies live on egalitarian ideals)  Feedback/trust is already implemented.

Similarity in names(, if that's all,) can be done through "string similarity algorithms"  (i'd be up to help). Fraud prevention by message style similarity (short quotes) wont be too hard either. Labeling users by IP networks may already be in place too

On similar names I'm guessing you mean when someone tries to look like another user.   The newbie warning helped stop scams, and people really do throw negative trust quick so they are not going to scam people.

As far as IP admins check on it.   We don't know all of what they do as it should be.  If we had a list of how all they use it people could try to avoid all the way's they use it.

I wanted to upload profile picture. How can I do this here? I'm a full member

Go to profile - Forum Profile Information - then click avatar.

It will let you upload there, just make sure to follow the rules on size and other things and should work great!
7678  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: two new ant S5 not working on: July 28, 2015, 05:32:48 AM
What if the controller is dead?Where can we find spare controllers, boards, etc?Is there any source or members you recommend?

S3's can easily be revived using usb to serial connection.  I would contact bitmain - https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us

Ask them if there is a easy way to revive S5 controllers.  If not then ask if they are selling S5 boards.
7679  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: s3+ dead? on: July 28, 2015, 05:31:04 AM
Frequency @ 250 s very risky for s3 family. If there is an electricity cut or similar electricity fluctations you may loss one of your boards.

It honestly is higher then they should be set long term.   C1's come set default at that with a LOT more cooling.

But S3+ is all aircooled and a overclock like that could be to much possibly, each unit is different.
