781  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coindesk Launches "Deals" BTC NOT ACCEPTED!! on: March 16, 2015, 07:12:05 PM
Fair enough. They are probably scared with the frequent BTC/USD price drops.

This doesn't explain anything. They are a Bitcoin news site and not accepting Bitcoin shows their attitude towards the project. If they are scared to use it they don't support it, period.
782  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [03-15-2015] Bitcoin Is Slowly Transforming Las Vegas on: March 16, 2015, 05:44:00 PM
I wonder what percentage of total bets in Vegas are made in Bitcoin. My estimation would be less than 0.5%. They have a daily withdrawal limit of $9999 per customer Cheesy We'll have to wait a couple of years before people start hitting this limit. 99% of Bitcoin gambling is still taking place online.

Although it is owned by 1 casino my guess is that it's used by very many people for all different reasons, and not just selling bitcoins for cash but also buying bitcoins with cash. Instead of walking around with cash, just buy some btc transfer it to an electronic wallet and funds are relatively safe.

If a btc atm was up to 10 miles from me I might find reasons to use it at times, even with the heavy fees.  My point is people will travel for miles to do a btc transaction.

Do you really believe that a person who packed his bags and went to spend a weekend in Vegas to drink and gamble will invest in Bitcoin in a random ATM. This person will be focused on how much cash they got left to play with, not on long term investments or browsing sites to install a wallet.
783  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or gold? on: March 16, 2015, 05:34:06 PM
A difficult choice. Gold is probably harder to sell nowadays than Bitcoin and much harder to hold and transport. I'd have to constantly worry that my brick gets stolen. Bitcoin on the other hand can be kept safe on paper wallets and multiple encrypted drives. The problem with it however is that the technology may be replaced by something better. I'd probably play big and risk it all with Bitcoin. It has much greater chance of gaining value.

I would agree to a certain degree that gold is somewhat harder to transport, but is it really harder to hold? It can't be stolen remotely (principally, unlike bitcoin), though it can be stolen from your home, but your paper wallets and encrypted drives can be stolen this way as well. The fact that the robber won't be able to use your bitcoins is a cold comfort. You may say that you know your keys by heart, good for you, but why then would you need your paper wallets in the first place?

We are talking about all our wealth here, so for a number of people this will mean a whole bag full of jewelry, coins or bars. It's not that easy to hide and if someone decides to steal it he can immediately sell it, or even melt and recast. Bitcoin on the other hand is secured with a password, so the thief won't be able to steal it that easily. If you have 3 copies in 3 different places and one of them gets stolen you'd be able to use one of the remaining to access your funds and move to a new address before the thief cracks the password.
Also unlike physical gold, they won't be able to steal some of your coins while leaving the rest, hoping you won't check and count. They either control the address or not.
784  Economy / Economics / Re: Greece now targets tax evaders! next step cyprus style! on: March 16, 2015, 05:10:42 AM
I live in a so called 1st world country but no joke these guys out of 20 arcades own 15+, 10 night clubs they own 7+, the hotels loads of homes it is crazy they own a whole sea front main source of income for the town. I have to add they have worked to get there but they have also been very dodgy and evaded stupid amounts of tax, i am a plasterer and have worked for a few of the family's and they even try getting the cheap rate for quality work such greed. The saying the rich get richer and poor get poorer is very true and now that will be until the end of time Sad
I know such types. Some years ago one man bought a large part of land in the center of my home town and built a giant complex with a mall, a hotel and a number of restaurants and underground car parks and stuff. A normal people would be called rich if they owned an apartment in that complex, so building the whole thing required really big sum, comparable to a city's yearly income.
If you have this kind of money you can ignore the law, you snap your fingers and everything gets taken care of just like that.

786  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Multiple wallets on: March 16, 2015, 04:43:08 AM
It's normal and helps you separate your addresses. Also if you keep your coins on multiple devices you'll need to install wallets there. For instance I have a secondary wallet on my phone.
787  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Methods of getting free electricity on: March 16, 2015, 02:10:37 AM
Don't know how the 110V grid is made in the States, but in the EU they use 220V 10A breakers (usually 2 per room - one for outlets and one for the lights). I investigated because my PC used to trip these every few days.
It would be hard run anything more than a single S4 in there.

Varies GREATLY.  It all depends on your electrician and location.  I am lucky that I live on a farm and have two lines going to my house.    I was over 12Kw during winter mining.  But now moving to summer mining have to go a little smaller.

I don't know what we would say normal is.  It varies so much.

I was talking about typical dorm rooms, as I agree with @jmintuck that in most cases it's impossible to mine there. Surely at home you can have anything you like. This crazy Brit for instance has a 100A socket in his basement just for fun (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMH2t34Rw3E).
Were you using the miners to heat the house? All this excess heat might be great for growing plants in winter.

789  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [ClownSpider] Suspicious? User flames me after I asked for lets use a escrow? on: March 16, 2015, 01:32:34 AM
All I can say is refusing a deal because you were asked to use escrow is shady and makes you look bad. If a person with high trust sees you flame somebody because he offered to transact through a third party you will get an adequate trust comment and it doesn't mean these two are the same person.
790  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ▁ ▂ ▄ ▅ ▆ Cloudmining 101 (ponzi risk assessment) ▆ ▅ ▄ ▂ ▁ on: March 16, 2015, 12:33:23 AM
Here is the bottom line, especially here in the most toxic forum in bitcoins, no matter how hard we work, no matter how hard we try, if it involves a way we can make money and help others make money we are the scammers from the get go, we are the liars, we are judged by all the looser hacking scammers that screwed everyone else over. Your company is only legit if its alive for 9 years, if not YOUR A SCAM, your company is only worth a crap if your rich,  if you work your butt off to create something positive YOUR A SCAM.

Microsoft started in a garage, and look where they are, google started in someones basement and look where they are. sometimes, just sometimes people really are looking out to make something that will work and benefit people, Not everyone is trying to screw people over.

You have a point, but people attacking companies in this thread have one too. The fact is at least one out of 2 mining companies is made to scam people. Another half of those that remain also turn out to be scams later on because of lack of profits, debts and so on. Microsoft wasn't a scam but in Bitcoin we already had Karpeles and Brewster with their big startups. We also had PB mining that run with the money once someone doxed the owner. I'm sure some people here have their own agendas and are puppets (no pun intended) of other companies, but the majority of projects attacked here is shady to say the least.
791  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Woke up today and lost all my Bitcoins ! on: March 15, 2015, 11:05:20 PM
Hahaha you fucking faggot told you that I would get you back. You stupid asshole leaving your router on default hahaha. You see i was thinking of making more and keeping it to myself but then I thought fuck you. I told you to stay away from my sister you fuck yard. Revenge is so sweet man. Your favourite bullshit casino low life Coinroyale. See all your coins are gone now faggot what you got! Fucking Coinroyale and that retard Victor hahaha See ya!

What is this, some kind of Revenge Porn?

His sister wasn't worth much if he's so proud of himself. Mr. Troll doesn't like "bullshit bitcoin" and us "retards" but he spent some time to register here and tell us about it. I'm touched.
792  Economy / Economics / Re: Greece now targets tax evaders! next step cyprus style! on: March 15, 2015, 09:47:44 PM
I don't think Greece have ever not targeted tax evaders or turned a blind eye to it just like pretty much every other nation doesn't (well, unless you've got connections. And the gov might not be able to take your coins away but they'll try and if they can't they can always lock you up in prison. You've always got to play by their rules sadly.

Greek like to have a lot of stuff from the governement but not pay much taxes.

Without pointing to the minority, where i live they have ways around paying there taxes. They are the wealthiest in my area they own pretty much the main source of income of the town it is quite scarey to be honest. Not surprised they are now targeting these tax evaders maybe my country should do the same its ridiculous.

Where are you from? I heard the corruption is the highest in the poorer countries. In EU those are the ones that used to be sucked dry by the Soviet Union.
There's a saying that the rich are getting richer while the poor are getting poorer. Those rich guys will always be able to afford a lawyer if they get caught or bribe someone, while the poor will be made into scapegoats and lose everything.
793  Economy / Gambling / Re: What type of Gambling do you prefer? on: March 15, 2015, 09:36:40 PM
The one that allows me to be involved in the game. At least when I lose I can say it was fun and I paid to kill the time.
All games where you have a lot of choices and have to think for a second like card games work this way. If I were to gamble offline my choice would be blackjack, poker or some pub games like pool or darts.
I also like sports bets, but the most fun is when you can watch a game or a match with friends and double the excitement Smiley
794  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Let us define constructive posts (wrt DaDice signature campaign) on: March 15, 2015, 05:53:23 PM
I have already complained about this last week and I will again because I've seen a comment that it's bad to write "one liners". What is a one liner? I have a big screen and can fit over 35 words in a single line, so most of my posts are one liners. Short posts can be constructive, so either you as the manager will read every single post and decide if it is relevant to the topic, or just choose the easy way and pick a minimum number of characters or words (like Bitmixer does) and we'll try to comply.
795  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: the worlds of warcrafts on: March 15, 2015, 05:42:27 PM
Why do you care? The number of wow players is declining, let's face it it's an old game and there's a lot of new, better MMOs out there.
Also Blizzard is greedy and likes to be in control of the game economy, but is not as Chinese farmers are selling gold in bulk as we speak.
796  Other / Off-topic / Re: Complete the sentence... "I would sell all my Bitcoins if..." on: March 15, 2015, 05:29:37 PM
I would sell all my Bitcoins if Satoshi revealed himself and announced that it was just a joke, an experiment to see how many people will believe in a revolutionary currency... Or he could just come out and say he's dumping all his coins in 24 hours.  Grin

798  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BitCrane T-110S for $614! on: March 15, 2015, 02:52:10 AM
The reason why its expensive is probably because its sleek looking, has a PSU, and its silent.

So good for apartment mining. An S5/SP20e isn't.

Yes it's obvious. The question is who is the target buyer? Some guy who wants to have a cool looking box warming up his living room?
The main purpose of a mining equipment is not to look good or be silent, but to be efficient. 99,9% of miners will buy it to make money, not to have something to show their guests and talk about at parties.
799  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is this bad or good news? on: March 15, 2015, 02:41:53 AM
You mean like the global reserve we have now? Most dollars live their whole life digitally.

I'm pretty sure the world would accept a version of Bitcoin which was a digital dollar used by mobiles etc for payments yeah absolutely and I'm pretty awake.

No one said bitcoin would die, I'm saying its can be bypassed very easily and potentially made illegal.

Are you talking about the world or the US, because I just lost you there. The world doesn't accept dollar in the way that you can just march into a store somewhere in Germany with a bunch of greens. You won't see global currency in the form of electronic dollar or Bitcoin any time soon. Same thing with a ban, even if one country decides to go for it the world won't follow, because the world doesn't see Bitcoin as a thread, but rather a game changing technology. Look how for example cannabis is treated around the world. In some countries you can go to jail for smoking and in other you can do it in public. Same thing with Bitcoin, it's completely legal, but I doubt it would be possible to make it completely illegal.
800  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-03-13] IBM and Federal Reserve want to create a Bitcoin Knock-Off on: March 15, 2015, 02:21:54 AM
Sure, the news is most likely real, but the attempts mean nothing, it's the results that count.
Suddenly everybody wants to have their own crypto. Apple, Blizzard and now Dell... My prediction is they will all fail miserably.
