Our little 3Th/s rigs will be little plastic Hess trucks compared to the big ones in the real world.

Do you have any idea how much the difficulty needs to be in order for your words to turn true?

Here are some simple numbers for you:

For a 3TH/s machine to make 0.1BTC daily we need a difficulty of 15 billion.
A difficulty of 15 billion = 107374 TH/s
107374 TH/s = 35791 Neptunes

Another basic calculation:

If you take all the predicted/estimated ASIC pre-orders in this topic: 22117 TH/s
And multiply that by 5 just to be on the safe side = 110585 TH/s gets you a difficulty of 15.5 billion

Is that simple enough?

i like

cant stand those bitching 24hours

Exactly. These people lack basic math skills.
I want to hear a good reason why a difficulty over 10 billion is to be expected in May/June, when all the ASIC hardware ever announced don't even amount to 5 billion.

One possible reason to get more then 5 billion difficulty in may: hidden asic producers. In other words D&T estimate could not be considered exhaustive.
Sure 10 billions is unlikely and 15 even more.

Why do you need pictures even knc do not bother show new type, because there will be no more 28nm units Sad

Because I'm curious. And I want to see the new PCB design and the new Ericsson VRMs.

thanks bro

appriciated

November Jupiters arrived today in the UK; orders in the 87## range.

One has a bad module, if it's connected the PSU trips out on a 1300 Watt EVGA supernova. If I connect it on it's own same happens, if I connect the other three modules they all work fine.

So bad module I guess, I've emailed support. Obviously this is not good as it'll have an effect on ROI.

One of the units is mine and the other my business partners so a bit awkward :-S

i had the same issue with one october jupiter until fw0.95 solved the problem.

WARNING it's reported that none of the old firmware works with the new Nov miners. You could brick the device using anything but the supplied firmware.

thank you for the usefull hint! very important!

Yes, I was there... lost almost a day of mining :/

But, there is a way to fix it, since even after flashing it keeps the needed files:
- login to your Jupiter by ssh
mount -t vfat /dev/mmcblk0p1 /mnt/1
mount -t vfat /dev/mmcblk0p2 /mnt/2
cp /mnt/2/initramfs.bin /mnt/1/initramfs.bin
shutdown -r now
- after it comes back up, if it still doesn't work, do an hard reset and power off/on and then it should finally work

did hno help you on irc then?
786  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 28, 2013, 12:34:28 PM
for the files:

My Nov. Jupiter just arrived today at 11am at my home (germany)
and hashing now at 658 GH/s. connected to a CoolerMaster M2 1000W PSU.

(all ventilators are mounted correct, packing was in well condition. Pool data was preconfigured to my Guild Account)
(no additional package Content , no bill, no Manual - nothing except the miner)

My OrderNr.: Order #856x  Status changed at saturday to : in Progress -> yesterday changed to Shipped (Payed)
UPS shipping mail was coming yesterday: advice to delivery today.

all went fine!

Edit: hashing now at 676 GH/s !  Grin

Edit2: damn, i wish i ordered more of them!

pictures of jup internal... pretty please :-)

he usually responds if he thinks it's worth responding, after all he's doing it in his free time.

anyway in this case the only thing he has to do is provide a link for a firmware.

I hope i did it and, more to the point, that re-flashing the firmware fixed the problem.
788  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Kncminner Jupiter, with 0GH/s after installing 0.99 firmware on: November 28, 2013, 12:15:28 AM
I tried but no solutions yet.

And I tried to update it cause I didn't know if 0.99-E is more recent than 0.99 after all in the manual it says to update to the latest firmware so I did :/

Well 0.99 was posted on 15 November, i don't know how come you thought that 0.99-E for a Jupiter shipped after 25 is older than the one posted on 15 November. Unplug power cable and open your miner and check all cable inside. If not then just e-mail them.

Well, I don't know that. I just upgraded like it says in the manual to the file they provide. Now someone at the KNC forum told me they think the new Jupiters are different and use a different firmware. Well, there is absolutely no info about that in their page, the firmware is just that one and it's completely careless for the guys from KNC to just put a firmware and a device page that makes it completely malfunction.

The cables are fine. In fact everything is fine, I can even access the miner settings... it just doesn't mine.

listen join #kncminer irc channel at freenode. ask the user hno, he's a OrSoC/KnC eng...

cause u need to flas 9.99-E again, and since it is not linked in the knc support page, you need some other source

https://github.com/KnCMiner/meta-kncminer/commit/daf4525e6e8d446c091418ce41a886c514762443

they are using Ericsson DC/DC modules. That's why the firmaware is called 0.99-E

yeah ericsson, i like ericsson they had nice cellphones in the 90s

lol .. they were cool you're right.

among other things, ericsson provides and operates telecommunications networks and they even managed to give birth to erlang Tongue

Just received my Jupiter (of course coolers fell during transport but no other problem) and i want to ask 'Orama if are we supposed to remove the new metal thing that's right on top of the controller or it's there for improved airflow. I guess not, but i want to be sure.

Hashing at ~672GH (started a few minutes ago)! Thank you KnC!

congrat!

wattage at the wall ?

I don't have anything to measure. I will try to get something next week.

nice! do you have that "Turbo Mode" they talked about?

Not yet, but the firmware is 0.99-E.

CYPER really don't feel like posting pics(maybe in the weekend), but it's the same as previous ones, the only thing that's change is a metal stuff inside that's somehow blocking the lower half of the front coolers, but it's 4-5 cm away from them and they changed the bloody VRMs Cheesy They are different now.

Sorry in advance for the stupid question, but could someone be so kind to explain to me what's the real meaning of this prediction?

While at it take into account that I'm quite dumb.

It's not a prediction really, but a statement about the nature of exchange rate growh with a supply-inelastic asset class and increasing demand. To illustrate a principle of microeconomics that is well known, but which a lot of people still have trouble believing.

I maintain that the reason for this is a fundamental limitation of human neurology. The inability to grasp exponential growth.

thanks chodpaba.

Now I got the general sense of what you mean and I'm even able to correlate to other fallacies of human being, e.g. be biased toward lower term utility maximization rather than long term one (it's all dopamine fault). Still I can't grasp the details a part from the fact you've posted an exponential formula, but I can live with that.

What are you talking about?

Namecoin just had a major/fatal flaw found like a week ago.

a week ago? it seems more like a month ago. Anyway nmc survived. Remember: what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. Tongue

anyway from the linked post:

Edit 131016 : A nice fix is currently being tested, so it seems like namecoin will be back in business. Cudos to the "snailbrain" and "phelix" for cooking it together and acting fast. So current status is - don't buy a domain from someone, and don't trust any important key-value pair in namecoin  before the fix has been rolled out! - Will update once it is there, but could take days to deploy at miners.

Thx Bitcoinorama 4 nothing, mostly the mercury hash only 80-99Ghas, most of 200 oct boards ended in Jupiter's owners hands, or on ebay, bitmit, marke place Sad and please do don't write like there is only one manufacturer for each part of mainer in world

sorry for bothering, but would you mind to use the width property to resize the img you post?

I'm very happy that you are sharing this R package. I'm going to test it.
And I'm happy you've included kraken in the list of supported exchange.

I dunno I will find to do test it today, but as soon as I get some review, I'll let you know.

One last thing: are you planning to host the code somewhere like github or similar ?
