Oh they'll find some way to fuck it up, don't you worry, this is Britain Tongue
7902  Other / Meta / Re: Considering BTC exponential growth... on: March 26, 2013, 12:48:15 PM
True, USD is still worth something, same with the pound but I wouldn't bet on their purchasing power in the next year or so you see Tongue
7903  Other / Meta / Re: Considering BTC exponential growth... on: March 26, 2013, 11:40:47 AM
Okay then, explain to me where the actual supply of Bitcoin is getting inflated and is a bubble like people are regularly ranting about on these forums? Oh wait, it can't be, because it's on a fixed volume of 21 Million >_> it's not Bitcoin itself that's expensive, it's paying for Bitcoin in USD that's expensive.
7904  Other / Meta / Re: Considering BTC exponential growth... on: March 26, 2013, 11:24:48 AM
LOL Tongue please, you paper bugs need to realise that's inflation at work, I'm thinking I'm just going to price everything purely in Bitcoin now and wait for the crash, it's only the USD that's really going up, Bitcoin is staying exactly where it is but that's also part of why it's so valuable now.
7905  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Too many characters? on: March 26, 2013, 10:36:29 AM
It's a bit like I.P addresses you need that many because what receive addresses are are a bit like I.P addresses themselves except they're used for sending and receiving Bitcoins, if you only have 2 characters then you'd barely be able to get 5000+ people using the network. I wouldn't be surprised if in the future the devs had to had more characters if Bitcoin got even more popular but I'm no programmer so I couldn't really comment Smiley

It's like Christmas! First Starcraft and now Bioshock popping up onto the torrent sites Tongue

Hacked in five seconds, it's going to be hilarious to watch them think they can operate a computer Cheesy

How does the U.S. Treasury department regulate currencies which are not issued by U.S. entities and/or are not transacted by entities operating in the U.S.? Or how is a determination made that a transaction is subject to U.S. Treasury jurisdiction?

Very nice comment here Cheesy To me, this is just typical political posturing from the established government parties.
7909  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why is UK so slow to jump on this? on: March 25, 2013, 02:19:19 PM
I suppose I could be counted as a 'company' but really I'm just Self-employed/Home Student, I already have the funds I need which are minuscule and I plan on using my art to support my jewellery and vice versa. The UK is in a bit of an odd place right now because there's a lot of anti-EU stuff going on and everyone is of course bickering about the financial crisis and what to do. I don't think it's a matter of red tape or anything, I just think our country had the industrial revolution, is now post-victorian and hasn't gotten out of that stupid rut ever since. It's been that way since Margaret Thatcher and Labour and it's carrying on to David Cameron now as well.

If it's any consolation I'm jumping entirely into Bitcoin precisely because I think this country has just gone to shit and is in a void of nothingness right now, I can't speak for everyone but I do think a lot of people are trying to decide what the fuck to do because the government just isn't interested in doing any governing and seem content on letting everything slide to oblivion. An exchange like MT.GOX but in the UK would be a nice idea but with companies like Bitspend cropping up I'm beginning to think that exchanges will slowly become irrelevant soon, at least for those of us who don't use Bitcoin purely for speculation and profit taking.

Oh and yes, like SBC has said, there's all sorts of shit crazy regulations here, I'm currently going to have to research all of this if I'm going to be able to operate here legally and make money but I guess I'll have to have a word with a financial advisor at some point because some of the stuff will be beyond me because of all the PR and double speak.

Edit: If you want to know just how hard it is to set up anything financial by the way, take a look at the 'Bank of Dave' documentary, should give you a pretty good idea of the kind of crap we have to put up with on a daily basis.
7910  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's a good path into proper coding? on: March 25, 2013, 02:10:42 PM
Depends on what you wanna do...  I'm a novice coder so I don't know nothing!  But I want to get into game design, and I've been told C++ is the key to that.

On the other hand, I hear it's great to be good at everything, to know many languages, and be able to solve most any problem.  PHP is supposed to be the most popular language today (I think?) and that'll land you plenty of work.

C++ is probably not a good choice for a game designer unless you are going to write your own software, and then it is still not a great choice. The choice of the language depends mostly on the platform.

Post 666 ahhh!

But yeah I'm just repeating what I hear, AFAIK C++ is supposed to be the most common in the industry.  At the moment I'm trying to wrap my head around my first language, Python, and then plan to jump into C++.  But to be fair, I still don't know what I'm doing, and I've yet to find anyone who can code and has a passion for video games Tongue  What do you mean exactly by platform?  You're referring to consoles, handhelds, or PCs, right?

From my own studies I've learned C++ is what you use to glue all the game assets and functionality together while OpenGL or Direct X is what you learn if you want to do the graphics side of programming, so that's all the fancy game engines and particle effects etc. oh and of course, procedural generation, which is badass, I wish I could learn it Sad
7911  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BBC website featuring bitcoin price on: March 25, 2013, 01:40:27 PM
yep and IMF looks suitably pissed off too.

That's just what makes supporting Bitcoin so much fun though! Cheesy

Pretend it's Japan. Imagine what would happen to the economy in Japan if cars, trucks, trains and buses were banned. Now imagine what would happen to Japan's economy if guns were banned.

Japan has already had guns banned for a long time you halfwit.
7913  Other / Off-topic / Re: WTF is going on? on: March 25, 2013, 05:10:19 AM
lol I won't argue with you there Techshare, the sad fact is a lot of other people will, I do believe the majority of people are genuinely peaceful, but honestly, the stuff I've seen lately, you'd have to be seriously pushed over the edge or into a corner to suddenly decide the only way out is to massacre a bunch of people to get your point across. It's going to be a mixture of some serious emotional issues and then a small group of scumbags who went and made that persons life a living hell that they felt the need to lash out like that.

People are looking for a scapegoat and inanimate objects are usually the easiest to place blame on.
7914  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Silver is important on: March 24, 2013, 05:28:56 PM
I work in silver for my jewellery, it's cheap ( at least when you buy the thin stuff ) and easy to work with Cheesy
7915  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another fan of Bitcoin, DOMINIC FRISBY on: March 24, 2013, 05:18:46 PM
lol just because someone doesn't understand maths or cryptography doesn't mean they're stupid cypherdoc, I'm a classic case of school education doing a shitty job and not bothering to teach me the basics in life never mind cryptography, you'll also find there will be scientists and economists out there who don't understand cryptography because it seems to be pretty specialised piece of math. The one thing I do know though is that if Bitcoin wasn't open source, I would have never have gotten involved in it, let alone support it, because I know open source is one of the most honest ways to distribute a piece of code out there and the original developer wouldn't be able to completely control it. I may not be able to look at the code and understand it but I know there will be someone out there that can and as we have seen with the hard fork problems people will point it out and it will either get fixed or a better alternative will be made.
7916  Economy / Economics / Re: Is bitcoin now the strongest currency in the world? on: March 24, 2013, 03:37:20 PM
The Bitcoin market is absolutely tiny right now, let's be honest, even if we guessed how much really anonymous deals are going on it still won't amount to much just because it's so new and not many people know about it. That said, I do think the fundamentals behind Bitcoin are extremely solid, far more so than any other currency besides stuff like gold and silver, as long as we don't see any special interests trying to muscle their way in then Bitcoin should do amazingly well this year.
7917  Economy / Goods / Re: Would you be interested in live plants? (herbs and vegetables) NON-GMO **POLL** on: March 24, 2013, 02:25:49 PM
Yeah, like others have said it sounds like an interesting idea but you have to look at how to ship them, I don't really have any use for it myself but I'm sure someone out there would.
7918  Economy / Speculation / Re: Totally called it! on: March 24, 2013, 02:15:01 PM
Cards are shown.  You made a pile of cash.  Enough said.

Translation for Proudhon's topic: I made lots of money selling my Bitcoins and now I want the price to crash again so I can buy them cheaply again and make even more money, you suckers need to hurry up and sell!
7919  Other / Off-topic / Re: Crappy Internet Providers - The one thing Bitcoin can't protect you from on: March 24, 2013, 01:41:01 PM
Yey! I have my internet backs! Cheesy Pleasantly surprised by Virgin this time round, the engineer came earlier than I thought and just switched in a new modem and it all worked.
7920  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: UK Games Developer RedBedlam now Accepting Bitcoin! on: March 24, 2013, 12:44:51 PM
Brilliant! As long as their games are DRM free I'd be happy to buy it with Bitcoin! Smiley

Oh wait.... As long as it isn't an MMORPG >_< lol Tongue
