and XMR + BTC complete each other, Monero is the altcoin.

The default transparent ledger (btc) and the default private ledger (xmr) are like a yin-yang combo. But if you think about it, aren't XMR's use-cases far heavier? A transparent ledger is great for charity fundraising and aid distribution, crowdfunding, public funds, etc. where we want everyone to see everything. But a private ledger is more appropriate for private wealth storage, cross-border corporate finance, offshore banking, etc.

yes, just GET THAT DAMN BLOCKCHAIN OUT OF MEMORY

- Have the entire network reject transactions of mixin 0, 1 and 2

- Do the I2PD layer thing

and then we can work on building software on top of it

I agree with you insofar as my own moral foundation stands.  But a core value for me is freedom, and I would not assume to dictate to the users or markets how they use a cryptocurrency.

I rather see the neutral aspect of Monero being a digital cash for transactions which benefit from privacy.  It is a use case agnostic position.

Certainly I can't control how anyone uses it, but I would not personally support such endeavours.

Has this account been hijacked?

So what your saying is you don't support fiat? It is used daily to murder rape and pillage.

How is this being made into an issue?

People are literally asking the developers to put into place a function in the wallet that will 100% be used to rape, murder, pillage, sell drugs, assassinate, pay for theft, etc, and this is the point that is being resisted currently.

The fact that you say, oh well we're just giving them an avenue to conduct transactions privately on a neutral ground doesn't change this fact. Sure, private transactions are great, but I wouldn't want that kinda shit on my computer.

All of this can be coded to use Monero, and none of it has to be inside the wallet software that the developers provide.

Let them provide the multisig, unadulterated wallet software, eliminate security flaws and refine the core functionality of the software .. but I wouldn't expect them to start picking and choosing apps to put into it.

I wouldn't want an ebay bank account ... why would I?

just to clarify, we are talking about the "secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency" as mentioned in the title for the past 9 months, right?

Just curious, why is no darknet market that I've heard of built completely around Monero?

Why hasn't anyone here made one?
84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency - 0.8.8.6 on: December 29, 2014, 04:55:24 AM
You can move them easily. just in your case in more then 1 transaction.
If you just keep them in your wallet for 2 years, price will increase that much that you will not even think of moving all in one go.  Grin

My aim is not to dump. Actually, my aim is to help create real liquidity for XMR. As you may have noticed, you can't buy or sell more than a few BTC worth of XMR without moving the price 10%. I plan to change that by putting up more bids and asks closer to the spot price. That's why I need to move my coins.

EDIT: I have cooled down now. Poloniex can have another chance.

I would be wiling to add liquidity to Poloniex, how can I help?

Just add more bids in BTC and add more asks in XMR.

well yes, but there could be a general market making strategy we could be following. Or an algorithmic approach we could program

Ideally, we would use market making bots of our own specifications, but I'm no good at programming unfortunately.

mainly, I was wondering what you plan to do when you get filled? or in a fast market rising or falling

PM me

I can at least double the liquidity

How do I get my daily poloniex withdraw limit increased?

I don't have enough on Poloniex right now to get that message pop up, but I've seen it before. Who do I email?

obviously,
even for children  Wink
now  that price is controlled by bots  Grin

you can barely move one bitcoin's worth of XMR without moving the price 5%

This is going to change very soon.

who, what, why, when, where, how?
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 28, 2014, 06:47:54 PM
that reminds me of what I came here to ask:

aside from bots, who is accumulating? I would like to know because I want to be more aware of their motivations. My position size in XMR is adequate but I may be interested in acquiring more

haha, how much do you think that is a factor? I find the liquidity to be frustratingly low still. I mean, better than other markets but you can barely move one bitcoin's worth of XMR without moving the price 5%

and that, fellows, is pathetic
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 28, 2014, 06:39:39 PM

wut.

alright, thats kind of cool, I don't really get it though

are people really acquiring XMR to participate in this turn based thing

so even with the database update, it still takes around 1gb of RAM to run Monero?

currently a 75% improvement but geez cmon
You don't have 1GB of RAM? Are you using a computer from this decade?

I was about to reply to this but then more relevant comments appeared so I don't even need to make a rebuttal, fortunately

Please read again

This shows the DB version using very little memory, well under 1 GB.

Everything on his entire system, including the daemon but also OS processes and whatever else, was using only 700 MB.

awesome thanks! Looking forward this to be released in primetime

Where does the MyMonero.com development team meet up? Would like to get more insight into what they are doing and working on

DGW is very nice

but myriad of algorithms give people with different specialized machines ways to earn

although each algo in the myriad can use DGW Smiley

I'm sure the ANC devs have thought it through way more than I did.

devs as in Meeh, the one and only person working on this problem

all of our discussions is solving the problem, collectively.

So what is the estimate ... how many minutes, hours, or days will it take ... until this block is mined now at diff 4483.891 ?

Hah, sorry ... I can actually answer my question myself:
http://abe.darkgamex.ch:2751/chain/Anoncoin?count=500&hi=252656

It's has been happening in very regular intervalls, and then each time there was no block for  2-11 hours.

EDIT:
... 120 blocks = 600 ANC ... = more than 2 BTC if he can dump them at the current price. 2 BTC in less than 10 minutes.
Wow, some pool/miner can be getting really rich right now, with that trick. Crypto is a weird world.

Same guys are raping ANC since weeks. They are creating thousands ANC in some hours but devs don't care. Welcome to Anoncoin!

Wow does not look good at all....

its fine, there will be a hard fork with both a better difficulty algorithm, and multiple hashing algorithms (like myriad) I believe
