81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] LANT Founder's Node Sale * Existing Uses * Backed by Private Equity * on: March 26, 2018, 04:15:02 PM
One week update!

LANT Founder's Nodes - 48% sold (48/100)
Lantic Funds - MCap LF50 fund fully subscribed ahead of release

For existing Founder's Node owners - the second private fund offered by LM has a number of subscribers which we will be using LANT as an exchange medium for. As there will not be a significant circulating supply by that time we have three different options of ways to avoid the price artificially spiking for you to consider. Full details are available on your personal node page and there will be a governance vote starting on the 30th March and open for one week.
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I am so stressful with trading coins, I lost 13000$ on: March 23, 2018, 11:46:26 PM
Haven't read the whole thread so apologies if this has been covered but...

It's important to differentiate between trading and investing, too many people use them interchangeably and they are not the same thing.

Trading - whether intra or inter day or you are scalping or range trading you need strong technical analysis skills as well as a good understanding of sentiment and fundamentals. Have a look at babypips.com which offers a free forex trading course which has the same principles as crypto.

Investing - use the community wisdom and take your time reading everything about the project from whitepapers to their website, twitter and even github if you have a coding background.

Ultimately it's always your money and your decision whether to invest in something but you can always improve your odds of getting it right with education. If something doesn't work out as you expected then take a step back and work out what went wrong and if/how you can avoid the same result in the future. Never trade or invest through fear of missing out - crypto is still young and there will always be another opportunity to make a profit.

If your project needs community managers, let us know. We're very interested and would love to offer our services.
(email: dustin@powerlaunch.io)

Thanks for your offer and interest.

At the moment we do not have any plans for pre-sale of the currency beyond the Founder's Nodes but we'll bear you in mind should this change.

Best regards,

Mark

Aware that we are ahead of the 'official' release date but as an update for those who have reserved or purchased nodes;

We are going to place a time limit for how long nodes are reserved pending payment of 48 hours. For the existing reservations this will start from the release date so they will expire at 2359 on the 20th April and will be available for other's to reserve. If your reservation expires then you will need to register again subject to nodes still being available.

The personalised pages for each node (used for payment, voting, transfer, updates etc.) are now password protected to prevent users accessing the wrong node page and to protect the content. The password is set to the email address you provided on your registration.

Owners have also been informed by email of both changes.

Thanks,

Mark

86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 6K budget for starter mining rig(s) on: March 18, 2018, 05:02:54 AM
My business partner and I have decided that we are willing to invest $6,000 USD into a mining rig(s). Below are the things we are hoping for and wondering if anyone has any tutorials that can help us accomplish our goals:

1. We want a ROI in 100 days
2. We want a decent resell value on the cards if/when we need to sell them
3. We already have 1 EVGA 1080 TI card and would like to be able to use it in the build.

Thank you for your help.

Hate to be another bearer of bad news but agree with other posters that 1. is just not going to happen with current coin prices and component costs.

You may get lucky and another bull market comes along which would reduce your ROI (...or CR as I believe we are now calling it  Grin) but if you believe that's going to happen anytime soon then better to buy coins directly with your money.

I think the ASIC manufacturers have just become used to every product being massively in demand whatever the price and specification because of the crypto hype and bull market. Crazy that you could place an order with a manufacturer then immediately list it on eBay at 2/3/4x the price for delivery in three months...

I can't think of any other industry where buyers would accept the generally terrible/non-existent communication, variable quality, long lead times, upfront/non-refundable payment, poor after market warranty/support etc. etc.

Hopefully with the bear market and people becoming more educated the ASIC manufacturers will find they have to change for the better and offer quality products at reasonable prices and with good support...always an optimist Cheesy

We've had a couple of emails with questions so posting the answers here as well:

Q1. 500 ETH seems very little for the liquidity on a new exchange?
Absolutely correct - we have matched funding from institutional investors (many of the same who have subscribed to the first LF50 fund launch) dependant on proving community interest and involvement in the project which is where the total liquidity will come from. We agreed the 'Founder's Node' sale as a way of demonstrating this to them and giving the most benefit to the community rather than just selling coins. As you can imagine having responsibility for deciding which coins will be added to the exchange potentially has huge financial benefits to Founder's Node owners!

Q2. Do the Founder's Nodes include equity in Lantic Trading Ltd?
No - the Founder's Node cost is for the node only backed by LANT currency. The matched funding mentioned above is based on convertible equity (debt/shares) and is currently the only way of investing directly in our company.

Q3. Lantic Trading Ltd. has only recently been incorporated?
Yes - we've been trading under the name since December 2016 but incorporated it solely as a part of the plan to accept outside funding. The increased accountability and accounting transparency will benefit all investors. Operationally there have been no changes to the company.

...are we missing something here...  Huh

I can't think of a single reason to buy any of these machines but am struggling to believe that Bitmain, Baikal and Halong are all so arrogant as to think that the crypto-community is this gullible. Is this really a sell off by the manufacturers ahead of the XMR fork or might there actually be a use (now or in the future) for these?...

92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Formula to calculate mining profit on: March 16, 2018, 11:00:37 PM
((Your Hashrate / Network Hashrate) * (Block Reward * Block Time) * Coin Price) - (Price per kWh * Rig kWh Consumption) = Your expected net profit

Is that what you mean?

Depends on the luck of your pool whether you make exactly what your percentage of the network hashrate would suggest but take it over a long enough period and it will be right.

The formula would be the same for all algos but you would need to know what hashrate your rig(s) will produce on the different ones - putting your cards into Whattomine or Crypto-Coinz will give a rough idea of that.

Another vote for the 1070ti as the best all-rounder card Smiley

94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Solo mining new coins on: March 16, 2018, 10:11:38 PM
Yeah maybe  Wink, or may you can provide OP some space on your pool to add new coins, would be better. Cheers!

I couldn't commit to doing it for longer than a month or so because we are in the middle of making a lot of changes to the business but I'd be happy to add some coins with 0% fee for the OP to try solo.

OP - if you'd like that then let me know and I'll put them up. We only use Yiimp now so a couple of limitations on algorithms but most are available Smiley

95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Attention: Bitmain is currently performing a large scam on: March 16, 2018, 08:04:01 PM
Odd, usually when a product sells out Bitmain leave it up and just grey out the Add to Cart button. This time they have completely removed it. I wonder if the $12k price tag was a mistake and they have just realised it or if they are too embarrassed as the entire crypto community has called their bluff.

Lets wait and see...

Price has reduced to $3K (https://shop.bitmain.com/productDetail.htm?pid=000201803162234588810T73G76V05F6). Someone else posted this in another thread.

Steve

It was me... thanks for quoting me!!!

Fixed! Apologies, I was too lazy to find where you posted it Smiley
96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Solo mining our brand new coin with bfgminer on: March 16, 2018, 07:53:40 PM
Yes, a node on one of your servers would be great! You can download the coin daemon from our website http://www.referencecoin.co
Please send me the IP address of your server and I will include the node in the source code of the coin.

No problem - daemon is running now on 77.68.77.83 Smiley

97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining , still worth it? on: March 16, 2018, 07:47:21 PM
GPU or CPU is a depreciated product, so if you can't get decent profit then better think twice. But I found the ROI is still acceptable, maybe roughly 1 year or more to earn back your GPU invested.

Nope. The days of 1 year ROI on GPU are gone. Also there is no magic  coins.
Now ROI is 2 years if your electricity is free and 3 years if not.

Apparantly I mean the farm of best GPU. Not such garbige as 4670 e.t.c. And not one any GPU in the system block.

That's it. No matter like you it or  not.

You really have no idea what you are talking about.  Your ignorance is quite comical though.

I have a working rig and I am familar with mathmatics instead of some dreamers Smiley

It depends what you are paying for components I'd guess. Here in the UK it works out to about 10 months ROI although that would be a little optimistic if the current conditions continue and who knows how long if ETH ever does go to PoS...

Steve
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Solo mining new coins on: March 16, 2018, 07:44:20 PM
Is it simple? I think no. I have done with MPOS and NOMP before, am do it, but not so simple.

Okay, not going to argue the point - up to the individual whether they think it's easy or not.

OP was mentioning that he was dual mining ETH and DCR with Claymore, mean what? Does OP have an SHA-256 based ASIC miners? Of course no. Did you try to suggest OP do Bitcoin solo mining using GPUs rig?

Again, not going to argue the point but I was saying 'something like CKPool' - in all honesty I've never used them and assumed they did altcoins also but obviously not. I'm sure there is an altcoin equivalent somewhere out there  Smiley

99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Solo mining new coins on: March 16, 2018, 07:03:43 PM
so +1 for setting up your own pool being the simplest/easiest approach.

Build a mining pool is for the next step. If simplest/easiest is a point, it's not for someone who asked for advice a solo mining. Will be more complicated to do it, especially this is just for fun (like op said). Beside it, need a server to do it. So this is wouldn't so simplest and easiest.

Absolutely right that you need a VPS but they only run about $5 per month (I haven't ever used them but seen lots of people recommend Vultr) and installing Yiimp/Nomp/coins isn't exactly difficult - if you've done it once then it's rinse, repeat...

I do get what you are saying though and something like CK Pool's solo option may be more suitable to experiment with. I think I'm just trying to say that running wallets on a mining rig isn't a great idea...

Steve

They came all the newbies with activity 10 to support bitmain and Baikal ....
Good known technique ....

It is not working this time the people woke up !!!

THE SCAM IS SCAM !!
$12000 For a miner that has expiration day 2 weeks is a big SCAM !!

I've just had a look back through the thread and literally no-one has said that buying one (either Bitmain or Baikal) is a good idea - just the opposite everyone has said it would be a very bad idea. The only criticism of the post/title is that it's not a scam and people should always complete their own due diligence and know what they are buying.

Steve
