XMR has made my Vegas profitable to run again!
...at least for the next few days.

Well that really sucks. I never thought they were gonna do it anyway, they always seemed happy to do whatever got them the most attention.. reveal secret transactions that were "suspect", keep ASICs on their network, etc. I've never really been a fan of them personally. I think both are guilty. Zcash didn't have the best intention to keep decentralized but at least they approved the grant for ifdefelse. When you take a look at github's thread, ifdefelse seems unresponsive. I mean there wasn't a single reply from ifdefelse to zcash team as they post from time to time waiting a response. I hope this won't be the case for eth Or progpow.pro will become in a meme page lol Isn't the work open source? Why would the other team respond to a github item on the zcash repo..? if you READ github thread, ifdefelse posted on zcash repo when ProgPoW was proposed and replied later. Seems like after grant was approved there wasn't more communication between them. Edit: Redaction. Ahh I missed how he was the one who originally opened the issue, thought it was the founder for some reason.

I'm reading stuff around forums and youtube videos... Figures being flaunted like 24MH/s Ethash (who cares), 20 MH/s x16r (that's better)... If you ask me, it looks to be a very, VERY efficient card. close to GTX 1080 performance for RX 570 wattage (and price). Quite impressive.
Yeah that ETH number is meh but 20 on x16r isn't that bad.. but my 1080tis are barely breaking even on x16r as it is with $0.11 power.

Native overclock is the BEST!

Looks like Monero is finally going to fork to solve the issues with all these FGPA/ASICs. The fork is very soon and the algo isn't even out yet. Seems like a very rushed job.
Wondering what the profits will be like. I am assuming it will be profitable for a week or 2 and then many of the ETH miners will switch back to XMR and it will become unprofitable as it was before.
Ohhh this would be nice. Almost my entire farm is powered down with this heat wave..

That is some seriously cool work there mate! ^ I am very jealous of such a setup, solar doesn't work here Thanks! How do you mean it doesn't work? Not enough sun? Yeah solar estimators say it's just not profitable/will never ROI.

Still mining BCI and hoping for a pump
I have 5200 coins
if it went to 3 bucks I would have a good 2018 and a nice start for 2019
Well for your sake I hope this happens.. hell anything not boring and depressing at this point would be nice
|
|
|
That's amazingly awesome.. but if anything goes wrong with it.. gonna be a BLAST servicing it.

Mining BCI
12x. 1080ti’s 4x. Vega 56’s 1x. Rx 580
2x 1050ti’s
I have close to 4600 coins.
Did you switch over to ZCoin for the MTP fork? Pulled in a nice few during that low diff.

t took a long time after the first BTC peaks to crash back down, stabilize and finally start to creep back up again. I do not think crypto is doomed - as the news outlets love to blurt out - but it could be a while (months/years) until we see the next bull run.
I still have my power usage graph from 2013/2014 on my wall at home. This period reminds me exactly of back then. I agree with the years for recovery (at least for mining).

Well I am still here mining away for the 2nd winter in a row. Last year it was supper convenient to use the miners to heat up the house and this year is good too. Only difference is last year we were all making a killing and this year we are the ones getting killed. But I will continue mining all through the winter until around april or may. That's when it starts warming up enough and we have to ask if this is worth it. At this moment my machines are barely making any profit.
Where do you live and does your place have a natural gas heater or an electric heater. I didn't do the math but it seems that if you got natural gas for heat you are better off just heating your home that way than mining with your GPUs as the NG is more efficient and much cheaper than electricity. Not if you get creative with your taxes/your house is your place of business. Soo many write-offs.

Well if you bought some property to house miners back in 2016 then you should have seen a nice 20-100% gain in value in most parts of the US. 20% barely covers broker fees and property taxes but areas like Seattle are easily double from 4 years ago. That bubble is going to pop.
It's popping. Been popping for a few months.. I'm hoping it's as bad as 2008 personally.

Next BTC halving should either show some bullish signs or have some bull run 3-6 months after like the last halving. ETH was supposed to dethrone BTC and with all the poop BTC has gone through it remains king (from market cap side, maybe not development side).
This is the first time since 2011 I have nothing mining. No GPUs, no ASIC, not even my gaming laptop (which mined enough Monero to pay itself off back in the day). The RTX cards are trash from compute standpoint so I'm hoping AMD actually goes somewhere with 7nm.
Too bad real estate will probably crash same time as the next crypto run - I'll be spread too thin.
real estate got some shitcoins too LOL only buy the ones who is capable of passive income, either you are building something there or not... lease or rent -->POS working the land (like agricultural lands) -->POW not an expert in real estate but analyzing is fun... I love this analogy... and it's the same line of thought for myself. Want some of that sweet PoS rental units Startup capital is just so much higher..

I'd say it was a GOOD thing if Bitmain got out. They're such a toxic terrible company and influence.

With today BTC price around 4K the best mining option is to turn off the rigs Not if they're heating your house!
|
|
|
Here in the US there are many tax advantages for me to keep them running, even if they're running at a slight loss because I can easily heat my entire house.

Winter is here, so its all good. I'm actually adding 15 570s tomorrow. Got them for about 95$Cad new. If anyone wanted to get into mining, its a good time because all the gear and accessories are cheap.
Damn what are you paying for power? If it weren't winter my stuff would be off today..
