81  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where is Bitcoin? Some insights. on: October 16, 2015, 01:48:32 PM
Nice to see how they actually mapped out everything with every tiny little details given. Looking at it, there are still a lot of white unmarked regions meaning that despite our effort, we still a lot that needs to be done to spread things around. We need more Infrastructure such as atm to get things going and encourage adoption and I can see that is where we are still lacking.
82  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Spending VERY Large Amounts of Bitcoin? on: October 16, 2015, 01:40:00 PM
Well they could sell the coins at different exchangers and it will certainly cause the price to go down quickly, so at this stage liquidity might be an issue. Plus if you are converting with large amount, probably the guy would not get 2.5mil per market price but instead ended up only maybe 1.8 or less, if he decides to convert and sell at available spot price.
83  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the commercial banks must hate bitcoin? on: October 16, 2015, 01:35:46 PM
Banks control fiat and it is their main life line. If bitcoin steps in and completely overtakes fiat imagine how much money they would have lost from the business as there is virtually no fee to collect. Lending which are controlled by banks also become obsolete and that is where part of their revenue come from.
84  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Bitcoin better that fiat? on: October 15, 2015, 01:33:37 PM
You can access your bitcoin in any parts of the world as long as there is internet access. And you don't need to actually physically carry with it along with you. Also to whichever place you travel to it is more or less an international global currency. No need to go through exchanges just to use it if it one day becomes the common currency accepted anywhere.
85  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another article spreading false information about bitcoin on: October 15, 2015, 01:23:21 PM
Can a reader give feedback and throw out all the baseless accusations? There's no point replying to the writer but instead i think it's best if you collect a bunch of signature and submit to the editor. Tell him how disgusted you are and if it were for me, i would never buy that kind of nespaper anymore.
86  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will the world look like in 10 years if Bitcoin succeeds? on: October 15, 2015, 01:18:27 PM
The best case scenario would be if you walk out the street and met anybody, they don't give you the weird look when you mention the name bitcoin. I assume they would already know about decentralization, blockchain, see the overall benefit of it instead of associating bitcoin with some illegal currency used for illicit activities.
87  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you feel about the negative reputation of the bitcoin currency? on: October 15, 2015, 01:13:03 PM
Actually it has nothing to do with bitcoin. If bitcoin can be used for ilegal activities so does fiat but why singled out bitcoin as the culprit. All these are because people do not get enough information and thus speculate on their own. The media are also partly to blame for all this but for them as long as the news sells it is good enough.
88  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Death of Money on: October 15, 2015, 01:01:41 PM
Somehow despite everything people chose to ignore the fact that it is going to be the future one day. I wish when time goes by people will start realizing and see its benefit especially when you have banks freezing your money even if it belongs to you. Too bad adoption is still moving at a very slow rate.
89  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chip and Pin Fraud and why bitcoin remains a more secure payment mechanism on: October 14, 2015, 02:34:45 PM
No matter how secure these credit card companies claimed to have with better improved technology, skimming will still be an issue. You risk not only your funds getting lost but also other personal information. At least with bitcoin if you take all the necessary precautions the risk is almost nil.
90  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it helpful or harmful to the Bitcoin to offer products/services only in BTC? on: October 14, 2015, 08:02:10 AM
Why not both. Accepting fiat and at the same time bitcoin is a value-added attraction especially for bitcoiners like myself. Perhaps it can change one day when bitcoin adoption has gone mainstream and suddenly you will find that there will be less and less people paying in fiat, so it might be a good idea to even set up an automatic terminal for bitcoin payment. That is how I would do it.
91  Economy / Economics / Re: Lets prove to the world that money is an addiction on non-scarce things on: October 14, 2015, 07:57:30 AM
I don't know whether I should call that as "greed" but sometimes the primary motivator is not because we earn to fulfill our needs but because our mind has become so obsessed in it that we forget the ultimate objective as to why and how. I never take bitcoin as an investment. If it does become big, yeah, then so what? I'm not going to exchange it back to fiat because it will mean losing what I believe in the first place.
92  Economy / Economics / Re: Elasticity and inelasticity of bitcoin's supply and demand on: October 14, 2015, 07:51:01 AM
I think there are few other scenarios which I think can also add up to the demand part. For instance, right now we still have about 6-7 months before the halving occurs so what if let's say a service or bitcoin infrastructure (for example money remittance business) were to be developed within this time span that sudden causes demand to explode exponentially, it would change everything. Whether the halving kicks in or even before that happens, anything is still possible.
93  Economy / Economics / Re: The $1 Million Dollar Bitcoin on: October 14, 2015, 07:36:22 AM
I imagine if 1 million dollar bitcoin were to become a reality, it must also mean that fiat is currently in deep trouble where a full-scale global economic collapse is happening. Which also means inflation has gone up insanely high and uncontrollable. I'm sorry I'm taking about reality which means at least it must have all that for 1 bitcoin to worth that much.
94  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Digital currencies to solve problems on: October 14, 2015, 07:24:38 AM
Money remittance is where we should focus on. I think this is an area where bitcoin has the advantage but we never fully utilize or capitalize on it. Imagine having the fund reached the other party almost instantly and with the low fee. For an annual 50 billion market worth, half of that amount would easily change everything.
95  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: More people have to hold BitCoin on: October 14, 2015, 07:10:49 AM
Rather than holders, I think more important is we need spenders and along with it comes the services where we can actually utilize the coins. We need that kind of services that creates a demand and encourage people to use their stash instead of hoarding. Something developed and built around a healthy economy. Instead of flow of cash, we need the flow of coins moving around.
96  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What kind of service is the actual "Killer App" for Bitcoin? on: October 14, 2015, 07:04:18 AM
An app that acts as or offer some kind of another layer of protection to make our transaction anonymous/untraceable without having to use a third party services to mix the coins and charge us a fee. I'm not sure how it can be done, I can't imagine if that is possible but something with that kind of feature would be cool. For sure, it will enhance bitcoins reputation
97  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gemini's launch is a failure, so is bitcoin on: October 14, 2015, 12:52:15 AM
Just because the price did not shoot up way you expected, then it's a total failure? No. Fact is people these days are only interested in quick gains and nothing else, whether the core concept or technology means anything. But what I believe is fundamentals. Whether you have an etf that turns out a failure or success, is not going to change that
98  Economy / Economics / Re: Thoughts on "holding" Bitcoin on: October 14, 2015, 12:44:01 AM
When you're "holding" Bitcoin it tells me you're planning to sell them at a higher price. You're just holding them for now with no purpose behind it.

Not necessarily true. Just because I'm holding on to it doesn't mean that I plan to sell it back later to fiat money. I might want to use it to spend on something worth a certain value today but might be cheaper in the future because my bitcoin gains in value. And I don't find any point to sell it to fiat which the value has gone down and will further go down in value. So spending the coin is the key.
99  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the Banking Industry kill Bitcoin and keep the Blockchain? on: October 14, 2015, 12:20:27 AM
Well, I always thought they can try and do whatever things they want but they can never take out bitcoin. The centralization part is very obvious and no matter how nice that might sound having the blockchain name on it with an open ledger, it is still subject to banks centralized control.
100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fork: Will this be possible? on: October 14, 2015, 12:11:56 AM
It's all or nothing in my opinion. If two chains continue side by side then that's a signal that the whole thing is about to go down the toilet. People won't put any faith in something that can split down the middle, not that that's how human nature works.

Same here. Thus, I'm not sure how OP can profit from it but supposed that really happens with two different chains being there, people are already getting the misleading impression about bitcoin. As far as branding, trust and reputation are concerned, that will never work out. People who are new might be asking which one is better or which one is more superior, in the end both are not.
