81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Zechariah's Portfolio of Altcoins on: June 02, 2017, 07:04:11 PM
LTC price probably won't drop much right now.
125,891 BTC volume in 24H (mostly asian markets)
Im assuming a lot of traders are using LTC to transfer funds or someone is accumulating in anticipation of another price jump.
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BREAKOUT ALERT $DGB Digibyte $0.022 on: June 02, 2017, 06:53:54 PM
Was able to sell about half of what I had at 1350 satoshi.
Hoping to buy back in and get some free coins in the 1200 to 1250 range, then hold for the next pump.
83  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 10th of June Digibyte in Minecraft? Will it blow? on: June 02, 2017, 03:57:51 PM
Minecraft integration is cool but it won't make a huge difference IMO.
The important thing here is that it shows new ideas for the currency.
I feel like this is only the beginning. Digibyte team seems to have some great ideas for the platform and you would be crazy not to own some in your portfolio.
84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Wings was the darling of Consensus look at it now on: June 02, 2017, 03:46:29 PM
You guys definitely have valid points.
I just always get concerned when I see a huge buy wall and price going up quickly with bots changing prices.

Thankfully I was able to sell everything and re-buy at about a 10% profit before the price went up again.
Will hold for now.
Doing more research since Im not 100% sure if this platform is actually needed and will actually hold value.
(I still don't totally understand what Wings DOES in the long-term.)
85  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How did Satoshi Advertise Bitcoin ?? on: June 02, 2017, 03:39:42 PM
From everything I've read just talking to a few people at conferences and message boards/ email groups/ IRC channels.
There were not really any established forums just a few small groups of people talking on chat and email groups.
Eventually the first whitepaper was published and sent to members of these groups.
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Wings was the darling of Consensus look at it now on: June 01, 2017, 08:17:25 PM
Whales are manipulating price.
Huge (probably fake) buy wall at 0.000171
and bots are moving buys and sells really quickly.

I actually sold everything near the top and will buy back in when the price (hopefully) drops 10 or 15%.
Haven't seen any reason why the price is up so much and growth seems un-natural.
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Hacked Again? on: June 01, 2017, 07:27:42 PM
I feel like things are different than a year ago when the DAO incident happened.
If there was some big flaw in ETH or any of the top 10 coins, people would lose confidence and we might see some pullback,
but money would just flow in other directions.

Things would be bad for a couple months maybe and then everything would be back to normal.
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It's impossible to invest in crowded ICOs on: June 01, 2017, 06:07:14 PM
Large institutional investors are able to get orders in for stock IPOs before the general public,
and crypto is turning into the same thing.
Investors realized its easy to make money in the crypto sector and its getting harder for the small buyers to make money.
89  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING NEWS: BTC Now Available To British Investors on: June 01, 2017, 05:29:43 PM
Anything that makes it easier to exchange fiat to crypto and vice-versa is a good thing.
Even the big well known exchanges are fucking garbage. Coinbase customer service is a total joke. Kraken took a week to verify my level 1 account details...
Serious improvements need to be made to get the average consumer interested in investing.
90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LTC is the next pump, buy before moon landing!!!!! on: June 01, 2017, 12:48:57 AM
I also believe it should increase and I dare to say $400/LTC is not out of sight.

I really hope so.
I have some LTC I'm going to HODL.
Bitcoin fees and times are so fucking ridiculous lately that I would not be surprised if ETH/ LTC / Monero etc took a larger part of the market share.
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Hacked Again? on: June 01, 2017, 12:42:53 AM
Whales dumping gas to buy BAT ICO tokens slowed down transactions for a bit.

Really interesting how many new accounts are claiming ETH/ ETC as a disaster scam in the last few days.
92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why is everything red again on: May 31, 2017, 11:53:01 PM
I love it when everything turns red. Thats when you make money.

"The time to buy is when there's blood in the streets." -Baron Rothschild
"You pay a very high price in the stock market for a cheery consensus." -Warren Buffett

Buy when others are selling and sell when others are buying.
93  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Aug 1st and forward effect on current holdings on: May 31, 2017, 11:44:14 PM
Coinbase customer service is terrible.  If you ever have an issue, it could be a long time before its resolved.

I've been waiting almost a week to transfer coins I bought.
It took support 4 days to send me an automated response saying they would get back to me.
The amount of money I could have made if I bought the alt-coins I wanted is substantial.
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 25, 2017, 12:58:48 AM
No. I told you before. If we were in traditional finance FluffyPalmface would be under investigation now.

This isnt traditional finance. Thats the point.
Monero is making a stand.
They are trying to carry out on a different path than all these coins with investments from big banks and backroom deals between billionaires and mining pool operators.
Monero will focus on the developing the code for a good coin. Anyone who doesn't like the vision can choose not to participate.

Monero does not need a "public face". Why do you think Satoshi Nakamoto used an alias?
The code is what will stand the test of time, not some corporate spokesman.
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 24, 2017, 10:49:07 PM
AV crew is getting things set up.
Looks like talk will start in the next couple minutes.
96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 24, 2017, 05:39:17 PM
I was actually hoping to buy a couple extra Monero before the announcement, but I literally can't buy Bitcoin right now.
Coinbase is having issues with their site, Bitstamp wants a ton of documents, Kraken has been verifying my Level 1 account since yesterday...

People hoping to get into bitcoin aren't going to pay crazy fees or deal with some random person on a forum.
It seems like the ability to convert fiat to crypto (and vice versa) is still the biggest hurdle to investing these days...
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: PIVX on: May 23, 2017, 10:55:43 PM
Buy and hold your purple gold.
You would be crazy to not own a least a few PIVX. Will probably be a $5 or $10 coin at least maybe higher.
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 23, 2017, 07:06:26 PM
I sold most of my Monero last week to make other investments, but put a little back in XMR after riding some shitcoin pumps.
Not sure which would have made more money yet.
Waiting for news tomorrow I guess, but if Monero gets added to Coinbase we could easily see $100 in the next few months maybe?

Also, LOL at the people who told me mining Monero was a waste of time.

This is a pretty decent article about linux security:
https://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/linux-security.html

Wondering if anyone here is using SELinux or other hardening techniques to secure a machine used as a wallet/ node,
and any tips they have?
