Yes if you are a quick handed day trader. Panic sells are often short lived so you need to trade quickly in case the dip is short term. Bitcoin now is rising so i guess the recent dip was a just for a few weeks, now they are back in the game

I wonder how long the btc rally will last, could be just a minor pump as there is nothing major being announced to warrant a long lasting effect. Alts should be safe despite a small dip today, if it happens throughout the weekend then time to panic!

Good choices, but don't forget to hold some BTC even in small quantities. Last year it pumped up so quickly it was difficult to convert alt into btc. If you want to expand a bit more, then NEO is another good and safe option.

The popular ones now are bittrex and binance, they are unlikely to close down for a long time and have good trading volume. For lesser known coins try cryptopia which is a decent new zealand based exchange - not top end but good enough
Cryptopia is getting bigger all the time so i doubt they will try to scam people. It won't be like trex or binance but it is one of the best mid-level exchanges around. When novaexchange went down, most went to cryptopia and they have now boomed

Eth has not peaked but it is a slow riser. For faster gains go for a newer coin such as NEO. There are new ICOs being released on their blockchain meaning more demand for NEO. Look at the charts and see it rising while others are in the red
NEO is rising while bitcoin is falling, this is due to the number of ICOs that is running on the NEO blockchain. It will be just like Ethereum and the mega pump will take place in 2018 when it goes from $70 to $300 in a matter of months

You are listing the small exchanges. Waves is already on both bittrex and binance and has it's own DEX so you can trade directly with other coins for a minimal fee. Lots of good things coming to waves in 2018 so a good time to hold some

I agree that Ripple and ETH would have been the best alt coins to bank our money in during early 2017. It's not too late to buy, but it's now a little bit risky.
risky indeed since the price already rise up but if you are a long term holder and can afford to wait then you can proceed and wait, its better to research and really understand every information about the project that you will be buying so you can decide whether to go all in or wait for some time before selling your coins and fulfill your dream. Both ethereum and ripple have both pumped this year so they wont go up much more. Better off trying something that has more potential like LISK. A new rebranding event will take place in February so it's a good time to accumulate more

It might do well in Chinese New Year but then it will get dumped soon after. Could be good for day trading but not for a long term hold. I would go with NEO which is the Chinese version of Ethereum. This is a safer bet for 2018, should go into triple digits next year
There was supposed to be a rebranding event in November but they changed it to a re-launching event in February. My guess is that it will pump up to $50 like NEO, as it should tie in with the SDK release. Major pump expected in 2018

First the bankers too all the tax payers money for a bank bailout, and now they are taking money from the crypto world! I guess i this world there are scammers and those who just want to make a fast buck regardless of where the money goes

This is a potential 10x coin when you look at the market cap and total supply. This should be priced at the same level as monero so getting them now for around $3 is a steal. The privacy features are much better than the other coins, it will be big in 2018!
I would go with sonm - very quickly! They just announced a partnership with HP today so you can expect a pump. Then another big pump will occur in August when they release a working product. Better get in quick before it goes out of reach

Why does everyone assume any marketing attempt is a scam? Just do the research and back up your facts before calling it a scam. I am by no means a member of the XSPEC team but it's simply a matter of benefiting everyone at the current moment by encouraging to buy now. With the current supply and market cap, it's value has the potential to go up at least 10x (very conservative estimate) because the tech supports it. Yes, the marketing is not up to a professional standard, but word-of-mouth can be a strong factor in pushing a new concept.
Woo, it's getting heated in here. Good to get a nice measured post. I think we can hope for 10-25x in 2018 and then in 2019 a push into the £000's. I would love to be wrong and we get there earlier. In 2018 investors will get more savvy about the tech rather than just relying on marketing spin and John Mcafee tweets. Under such scrutiny Spectrecoin's tech will prevail and prosper. If anyone does their research rather than just following john mcafee then they will realise that xspec is a far superior coin to verge and monero. Soon mcafee will probably mention xspec and then it will go way past verge which is sinking anyway.

This is a good coin which is based on TOR. I wonder why one of the major promoters like McAfee have not given it the thumbs up yet. Lots of deeponion signatures all over the bitcointalk forum so it must be a successful campaign with a big community.
No-wonder McAfee claimed his twitter account was hacked, he will probably blame the hacker for giving a shoutout to verge A one developer coin is a definite no-go area for investments. For privacy coins go for something like XSPEC which is the next one to boom

Some icos have extended the period throughout Christmas and into Q1 of 2018. This will ensure that investors will have picked up the long awaited January pay check and have some money to invest in an ICO. Hopefully that ICO will help to recover their finances from the xmas overspend
Like most people have said here already, the answer is spectrecoin. The reason is that the other coins have already pumped so they won't go 10x higher. XSPEC has not released the new website yet and is still under $2 despite having better privacy technology.

It seemed a bit fishy to me so i never used it. Better off trading on Binance and bittrex. With binance it is cheaper to trade simply by purchasing their binance coin and using that to cover the fees with a 50% discount
