801  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: [Poll]Will you be switching to ASIC? on: July 16, 2012, 06:06:01 AM
so this survey is a bit useless

An interesting question that I hope this poll will answer is what existing non-BFL FPGA miners will do.

Will they sell their device on the secondary market to recoup costs or continue mining because the incremental cost to do so is next-to-nothing?

If ASICs hit the market, I will be reprogramming my FPGAs to undertake other business work such as LTC mining, cracking lost passwords as a commercial spin off or some other number crunching venture.

This sort of thing is not for the average Joe but then again I am an electrical / electronics engineer whom should be able to pick it up over a few weeks.

I would like to request whitelisting.

I have been using for >10 hours and have about 20 PMs but struggle to talk about general dribble on the newbie board.

I have been running a GPU rig for about 3 months as a proof of concept and am now moving into FPGAs - Cairnsmore1 based farm.

As for my technical knowledge, I have a BEng - Elec & MEng - Systems (with subjects in Cryptography, B2B e-commerce & Cybersecurity).

I am active on Linkedin, especially the Bitcoin forums there. Linkedin ref check via http://www.linkedin.com/pub/shayne-wright/13/5ab/956

An electrical engineer in regional Victoria, Australia. Planning to build a 10kW solar panel system to support a bitcoin rig habit. Predominaetly a Win 7 person only because I haven't used Linux (Redhat & Fedora) for nearly 10 years.

By the way, anyone know when / if the GUIMiner poclbm fix is going to be pushed out or do we need a reinstall?

Use Diablominer or cgminer for now. I have not seen the update yet Gui/PY

It has been 3 days since the error was identified and a solution determined (see GitHub) yet no Windows based solution has been pushed out. Are we trying to kill Bitcoin or help it to grow? *sacrasm intended*
