801  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [TRUMP] How will the US Presidential Election affect Trumpcoin? on: November 09, 2016, 11:34:11 PM
Holy shit boys Trump pulled off a win...
Wish I had invested in this shitcoin so I could dump it for a nice profit ROFL.
802  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: November 09, 2016, 11:32:03 PM
I like the look of the UI.
(Although I'm only judging by pictures, not currently testing it myself.)
803  Economy / Economics / Re: why is it so hard to buy bitcoin on: November 09, 2016, 12:56:02 AM
The exchange of fiat to Bitcoin and vice versa
is still (IMO) one of the weakest part of the system.

If you are not an early miner, or didn't earn Bitcoin years ago, you are forced to exchange local currency for BTC.
This means buying from a service that probably makes you register your paypal, bank account, government ID, etc.

And it's naive to think that some governments aren't already tracking people who exchange fiat for Bitcoin and the addresses they are using.

If you are fine giving all this information it's no problem,
but I dream of a day where I can escape fiat and my need for government issued currency.
That is real financial independence. (A boy can dream!)
804  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to buy Bitcoin on: November 09, 2016, 12:50:34 AM
Hopefully we can get some recommendations from users who have used a Visa debit card.
There are services like

BitPay
https://bitpay.com/visa/

Xapo
https://xapo.com/card/

That can load your Bitcoin for payment.

Cointelegraph has a review article:
https://cointelegraph.com/news/6-cards-battle-for-bitcoin-supremacy-bitcoin-debit-card-comparison-test
But I've become suspicious of them lately since many of their "news stories" show obvious bias.
805  Economy / Economics / Re: India just invalidated its largest bills R1000 and R500 overnight on: November 08, 2016, 11:11:59 PM
Yeah Im pretty sure this is just a redesign to prevent counterfeiting.
(The US did a redesign of all large bills recently for the same reason, Im sure other countries have as well.)
806  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gambling - New to bitcoin on: November 08, 2016, 11:06:05 PM
What kind of gambling are you looking to do?
Play games like dice/ or bet on sports events etc?

For sports betting I like
https://nitrogensports.eu/
They have a post on this forum.
I've made more than a few bets on the site and never had any problems with deposit/ withdraw.
807  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: My (proven) impact on Litecoin price (confirmed, evidence insid) on: November 08, 2016, 11:01:08 PM
Just like Donald Trump is the last hope for America,
I truly believe bitcoinlitcoinbtcltc is the last hope for Litecoin.
Make Litecoin great again.
808  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEM releases Android App on: November 08, 2016, 10:59:26 PM
Seems like the developers are doing some good work on this project.

Check out the promo video if you haven't seen it.

809  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Do you prefer your money to be in cash or bitcoins? on: November 08, 2016, 10:56:21 PM
Personally I prefer gold doubloons.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doubloon

This way I can put all my money in a room and swim through it like Scrooge McDuck.

810  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience is now dabbling with 16nm ASICs for new designs on: November 08, 2016, 01:10:06 AM
What would need to be done to retrofit an old antminer?
Are we talking a lot of soldering small chips or simply swapping out a board?
811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will mobile devices serve as BTC full nodes in the future? on: November 08, 2016, 01:00:05 AM
It will be years but something like this could eventually be possible.
Data storage is not the problem, we already have devices with 64 or 128 GB storage and that will get larger in coming years.
Data transmission needs more throughput.
It will be a few generations, but in another ten or twenty years who knows what cell phone data networks will look like.
812  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [TRUMP] How will the US Presidential Election affect Trumpcoin? on: November 07, 2016, 10:45:58 PM
Im assuming that since this coin is just a ploy to capitalize on the election we won't hear much from the devs after tomorrow.
(Hilary Clinton is the next president of the United States and if you think otherwise you're fooling yourself.)
813  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin Investment on: November 07, 2016, 10:41:24 PM
Monero seems like a pretty safe investment at this point.
Although there was a dip, the release of Zcash didn't kill it.
I think a lot of people are starting to realize its a good technology and I would be very surprised if it dipped below the $5 mark again.
814  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The danger of the cyptocurrencies on: November 07, 2016, 10:38:44 PM
We would have a massive problem if we had a power outtage for weeks on end. We would have to start trading things like back in the day Smiley

Thats why you need to diversify and invest in some precious metals!
I'm telling you, when the end of the world hits and everything looks like a Mad Max movie, you need something to trade for food, guns, and ammo!  Grin
815  Economy / Economics / Re: Bad news about Bitfinex on Reddit. Bitfinex hacked again? on: November 07, 2016, 08:49:00 PM
Dear Poloniex,

I found a vulnerability in your system.
Without disclosing any details, please kindly send 500BTC to my Bitcoin address, provided below.
Thanks.

(I mean, if it works, I'm a fucking genius, right?)
816  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 07, 2016, 08:46:08 PM
Well I'm glad to see Monero up a bit.
Maybe people are starting to realize Zcash won't totally kill the market and that Monero is a solid technology?
817  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: zcash soon 0.2 btc! on: November 07, 2016, 11:56:33 AM
Yes even 0.2 would be insane for a coin that just released.
The people that bought in thinking 1 ZEC would be worth more than a BTC would be sad (but they deserve to be)
but that would be unprecedented for a project that is only a couple weeks old...
818  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LISK price speculation on: November 07, 2016, 01:00:57 AM
Price up 10% on some speculation of the Ark ICO.
They are accepting Lisk as payment or something I belive. Does anyone have details?
819  Economy / Speculation / Re: Insider: China gov warns citizen about the incoming crack down on exchangers on: November 06, 2016, 09:48:37 PM
There is some serious FUD manipulation going on right now.
Do like Public Enemy says-
"Don't believe they hype!"
820  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: zcash soon 0.2 btc! on: November 06, 2016, 06:32:18 PM
What purpose does this coin actually have and will anyone accept it?
That will determine the long term price. Right now price is purely based on hype and advertising.
I personally would never trust it to be truly anonymous, I would prefer to use Monero for that purpose.

How long are transaction times compared to Bitcoin?
According to documentation block time is 2.5 minutes (150 seconds)
If there is a fast confirmation time for transactions they may see some adoption by people who can not afford to wait for BTC confirmation.
