Great, I got the wallet up and running fast using the chain file. Now I noticed under Advanced there is an Asset Registration menu. Do I need to register my ANS to get the ANC?
First you have to make a transaction. What I do is send all ANS to myself. For example, my receive address is AN3CZi2aWaZa8hTrsSYa76BA9BLqQUKzax and then I send all to AN3CZi2aWaZa8hTrsSYa76BA9BLqQUKzax. Next click "Antcoin claim" under "Advanced." Thanks Bustedsynx. Everytimes I change the number of my asset (ans) have I resend them to muself? In addition, what about the registation? What is its purpose? No, everytime you want to claim antcoins, you have to make a transaction. Sending is free and less tracking if I send to myself. If you plan to create an asset (a token over Antshares, just like XCP over BTC, Omni over BTC, NXT, Waves, or ETH), you need to burn 10,000 ANC. That's why the real gem of Antshares is ANC. For the past several months, only 1M ANC has been claimed which means only 100 assets can be created for now. |

Can confirm, this seemed to start happening a couple of days ago and is intermittent. It seems like whatever backend service is running on ip.bitcointalk.org (the image proxy) seems to time out.

If you plan to upgrade your wallet to the latest version, don't let it sync the blockchain on its own, it will take forever. Download the bootstrap file at https://www.antshares.org/client/chain.acc.zip and unzip to the installation folder. And then delete the "chain" folder. Run AntsharesCore and it will sync very fast under 7 minutes. From there, the unzipped file "chain.acc" will automatically be deleted and a new "chain" folder will exist. Thanks for the info. After a number of blocks has passed, you can claim Antcoins entitled to you via wallet. You're just giving away Antcoins if you keep Antshares in exchanges. So far I earned 5% worth of Antcoins since the beginning if they are equal in value with Antshares. Antcoins are the real profit maker if you truly understand how Antshares work. |
