8141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Double spend transactions-BTG- Confirmed on: May 24, 2018, 02:22:08 AM
Bitcoin gold, a cryptocoin of less value and a very small hashrate is more predisposed to a 51% attack because it is cheaper to do it, and it does not matter to the attacker if the coin dies.

In bitcoin, game theory applies more because the miner or group of miners planning to attack it have to assess which would be more beneficial to itself, the coin and the whole ecosystem because the costs are very high and those costs might be more than the reward.
8142  Economy / Speculation / As bitcoin plunges, mega-bull Tom Lee stands by his $25,000 target on: May 24, 2018, 01:58:16 AM
I reckon this is the news that the bulls want hear. Tom Lee of Fundstrat is still standing by on his prediction that bitcoin will reach $25,000 this year, an all time high. Also know that this is another declaration by the analyst, after already saying it the other day.

He stood by it when bitcoin plunged below $10,000, and he did it again when it went below $9,000 and now again below $8,000. But how long will this man stand by it?

Fundstrat's Tom Lee is standing his ground on bitcoin soaring to $25,000.

On Wednesday, the cryptocurrency plunged below $8,000 and traded at around $7,500, essentially giving up most of the gains bitcoin had managed to make from mid-April to early May after hitting 2018 lows.

But not only does Lee believe Wednesday's drop is solely due to "typical crypto volatility,"

And finally, data compiled by Fundstrat show a historical trend that has Lee encouraging investors to hold onto bitcoin.

"Historically, 10 days comprise all the performance in any single year of bitcoin's price," he said. "If you just took out those 10 days, bitcoin's down 25 percent a year."

"So as miserable as it feels holding bitcoin at $8,000, the move from $8,000 to $25,000 will happen in a handful of days," he added.

8143  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-05-24] Coinbase acquires cryptocurrency trading platform Paradex on: May 24, 2018, 01:25:03 AM
What does Coinbase know? As I remember, Paradex is an ERC20 token decentralized exchange that operates on Ethereum smart contracts. Also with the SEC's questioning of the legality of ICOs, Coinbase should be moving away from tokens trading. But why are they embracing it? Does Coinbase already know that the SEC will give a favorable evaluation on ICOs?

Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has acquired Paradex, a platform that enables users to trade virtual coins directly with each other, the San Francisco-based company said on Wednesday.

Coinbase plans to make some enhancements to the technology and launch Paradex’s services to customers outside of the United States, enabling them to trade “hundreds of tokens,” it said.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Paradex, which has 10 employees, is considered a decentralized exchange because it does not maintain custody of the tokens on behalf of its users but allows them to trade them through digital wallets.

The move will significantly expand the types of cryptocurrencies that customers will be able to access through Coinbase, which has traditionally been more conservative than competitors in listing new types of coins. The exchange offers trading in four of the largest coins: bitcoin, ether, litecoin and bitcoin cash.

8144  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-23] Google Tries Hiring Vitalik Buterin for a Secret Crypto Project on: May 24, 2018, 01:00:55 AM
@vit05. No it would be a very bad situation for the Ethereum community, I reckon. Ethereum's success depends on Vitalik because he is viewed as their messiah. Without him they would be lost and they will also dump their coins to search for another coin and another messiah to follow.

Also why would it be a fantastic if he worked in a place that he is trying to disrupt?
8145  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-23] Vinnik Confessed To Fraudulent Through Cryptocurrency Exchange BTC- on: May 24, 2018, 12:44:07 AM
No mention of Gox yet? That's the mystery that really intrigues me. Incredible that after all this time so little is still known about it.
It was set up in such a way, almost perfectly done, that there isn't anything other than trail taint they can follow.

In reality, we all have likely been distributing tainted Gox coins, so how exactly can you prove that they are one of the masterminds behind the theft? BTC-E, Bitstamp, Bitfinex, they all are in a similar situation.

The only difference is that BTC-E has always been more open and free for people to sign up and use it solely as mixer. The only limitation was that you can only withdraw 100BTC per day.

That's something you can easily bypass by dumping BTC for LTC and other coins to withdraw them all simultaneously. I think BTC-E can use that as a powerful shield to defend itself. In the end, there is no real proof.

Might bitmixer.io have been involved in this? Their exit from the cryptospace was very perplexing. The owner's final message also sounded like someone was pointing a gun on his head. It was the first and most common observation in the forum.
8146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Verge Cryptocurrency Suffers Its Second Hack in Less Than Two Months on: May 23, 2018, 01:18:57 AM
@jlanzago. Yes, it is very bad. After the cryptospace news media made Verge appear as the best anonymous coin, this transpires.

Sometimes you must question how corrupt the people behind the cryptospace news media are. Are those authors who pumped Verge in reality paid shills?
8147  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fundstrat price predictions wrong again! on: May 23, 2018, 01:11:11 AM
Will Tom Lee become a case of the boy who cried wolf? I reckon his next bullish prediction might be ignored or assumed wrong again, but by that time it might it be the real one hehehe.
8148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Verge Cryptocurrency Suffers Its Second Hack in Less Than Two Months on: May 23, 2018, 12:56:06 AM
Bad news again for the Vergins. This will be another stain on the reputation of the project. One that might take a long time to clean up.

Now the hackers have unlimited access to premium content in Pornhub hehehe.

Cryptocurrency Verge has suffered what executives are claiming is a DDoS attack. The platform is experiencing a serious delay in its blockchain, which has led to security concerns amongst users and worries about the currency’s stability.

At press time, Verge is trading for roughly $0.052, and its market cap value sits at $785 million. A decrease in the currency’s price has occurred over the last hour, docking Verge down by 0.36 percent, while the coin has fallen by nearly 7 percent over the last 24 hours. Currently, Verge is the world’s 31st largest cryptocurrency per CoinMarketCap.com.

Verge first mentioned the attack in a Twitter post, explaining:

“It appears some mining pools are under DDoS attack, and we are experiencing a delay in our blocks. We are working to resolve this.”

The problem may be more serious than the company is implying, however. The attack lasted more than a few hours and has resulted in over 35 million XVGs (worth approximately $1.7 million) being stolen.

The theft occurred when hackers exploited a specific glitch in Verge’s technology by mining multiple blocks virtually one second apart using the same algorithm. This was the same tactic used in a hack just last month that saw over 250,000 XVGs disappear into thin air, forcing Verge to prepare a subsequent hard fork.

8149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON [2017-10-07: update to 0.9.14.0] on: May 23, 2018, 12:32:24 AM
@stoffu. I will do if I have some time. I am doing some renovations in my apartment kitchen hehehe.

In any case, has Bittrex already replied if they will support the hardfork? I reckon that they have no choice but to support it right?
8150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: May 23, 2018, 12:23:40 AM
@boomboombazookaj. Considering the long wait, we should call it spectacular. It is very spectacular that we are still here supporting the project hehehe.

That's what you can call a real community.
8151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PRE-ICO]HoweyCoins: the only BitcoinTalk-endorsed ICO - GUARANTEED PROFIT on: May 21, 2018, 01:18:31 AM
Haha! I still can't believe so many people fell for this. Honestly, this is really sad.
For some posts it's really hard to say whether they're serious or just really good at playing along.

They are clearly playing along with the joke. But it will be at the expense of those people who do not read the replies in the thread and the latest news hehehe.

Also is this a sign that the SEC has their hands tied and cannot regulate the cryptospace fully? This move by them is perplexing. It might be an admittance that they cannot shut the ICOs down so they start with this strategy engaging for the people not to participate in ICOs.

8152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: May 21, 2018, 12:46:35 AM
@Febo. What is the chance for Aeon releasing bulletproofs and ringCT before all the other cryptonote based coins? I reckon Aeon should be a willing testing platform for it.

Also, are stoffu and moneromooo developing in Aeon for the longterm?
8153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: At Ripple’s Snoop Dogg Party on: May 20, 2018, 02:55:04 AM
Yes Snoop Dogg will also put the crip in the cRipple network once categorized as an illegal security by the SEC hehehe. This type of marketing will work on the people who do not know anything about the cryptospace and all the scams in it.

New bagholders coming. Welcome!
8154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: May 20, 2018, 02:26:29 AM
What about calling it spectacular sophie. Just sophie is very plain and not deserving of all the pain and suffering in waiting for this rebase hehehe.
8155  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fundstrat price predictions wrong again! on: May 20, 2018, 02:19:47 AM
It is hard to be a raging bull in a market full of stubborn bears. Also Tom Lee might already have filled his wallet and his clients' wallets very full or on leverage hehehe.
8156  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-17] French Minister Urges France to Become Leader in Blockchain and Cry on: May 20, 2018, 01:32:00 AM
RIP French financial system. The first state to have their country disrupted by rat poison hehehe. Expect Warren Buffet to visit the country and give a I told you do speech.

@SaintGraal. It is because of greed and the also reckon that they can use regulations to control it.
8157  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-18] Warren Buffett Is Wrong About Bitcoin, Fred Wilson Says on: May 19, 2018, 01:28:29 AM
Why do so many people listen to a guy with no knowledge about bitcoin?

I think it's because of this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warren_Buffett

Warren Edward Buffett (/ˈbʌfɪt/; born August 30, 1930) is an American business magnate, investor, and philanthropist who serves as the chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway. He is considered one of the most successful investors in the world and has a net worth of US$82.9 billion as of February 17, 2018, making him the third wealthiest person in the world.

The guy is very rich and it seems that he is a great investor then the media look at him like he is a god and forget that he knows nothing about bitcoin. in this world have a lot of money you become a god, even if you speak the biggest bullshit, nobody corrects you

I have heard him say it's risky because "This Satoshi guy could have hidden something in it". Utter foolishness if you understand open source.

the guy do not want to do research before commenting about bitcoin and when he talks bullshit nobody corrects him because he is considered one of the most successful investors, so to media everything he says is supposed to be correct

Warren Buffet quite knows what bitcoin and the cryptospace are, I reckon. But he has his role to play as the bad guy talking down on them because it is a threat to the very system that he has deep belief in.

Do not underestimate him. He has an army of people doing the research for him.

8158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON [2017-10-07: update to 0.9.14.0] on: May 19, 2018, 12:55:24 AM
@smooth. Yes we should without doubt innovate, but on the simplest areas of the project like a more efficient blockchain pruning, or a less power hungry proof of work algorithm, something.
8159  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC FN 129: Maia vs Usman Info and Prediction Thread on: May 19, 2018, 12:43:27 AM
@Hydrogen. Do you have notes on the pretty Alexa Grasso and Tatiana Suarez? I reckon Alexa might be too underestimated for this fight. The odds for her is at +499 now and with only 1 day to go before the fight.
8160  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which sports betting site do you go for UFC fights? on: May 19, 2018, 12:31:28 AM
@fudster. Try Bitcoinrush and Nitrogensports, they have the best odds for MMA in all of the bitcoin sportsbooks.

You can also use Pinnaclesports. They have the best odds in all of the sportsbooks in the world and they have started accepting bitcoin a few months ago.
