8181  Economy / Economics / Re: I think the concept of saving has been lost with this generation. on: February 22, 2013, 12:36:03 PM
There is nothing wrong with saving or spending by itself, what's wrong is getting in debt and fucking about with other peoples money and then getting in even more debt which is why we're in this mess in the first place. I'm well aware of how to save, in fact I'm looking forward to being able to save for the low low prices that Bitcoin provides because of its deflationary nature. You'll find that this generation is actually pretty damn open minded and I find I get along with people my age most of the time, much better with people younger, the people I do have a problem with are the baby boomer generation because they wilfully bankrupted their countries and their children ( which is what devaluing a currency does ) for the sake of benefits, pensions and wars to gain more resources.

The stock market can actually be a viable force for the economy, much like banks, in fact you could argue they work better than banks in some ways for their purpose because the people giving money actually own portions of the companies they invest in, what we need is a properly decentralized version for Bitcoin that isn't rigged in the blue chip companies' favour.
8182  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What to do as a newbie... on: February 22, 2013, 12:18:46 PM
I don't know where all you guys came from Cheesy but honestly guys, learn skills that people will pay you for in Bitcoin you don't necessarily need to be in the full Bitcoin forum to do business, might even be a way to get a good reputation.
8183  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: For real? Today's BitCoin (BTC) price in USD is 1 BTC for $26.97. on: February 22, 2013, 12:01:20 PM
It is mental, I'm still amazed that I might be able to own a full house and car in my lifetime.
Don't set that low expectations for yourself. Your life is what you make of it.

LOL Tongue I'm a methodical thinker, once I get to move to a new house I'll plan my next move Wink
8184  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help! 47 mined bitcoins were transferred away? on: February 22, 2013, 04:25:35 AM
Ouch! Sad if you didn't enter a password and put in an address then it shouldn't have done anything, you may well have been hacked though I'd wait for more knowledgeable guys to come along and look before going in a fetal position and crying like I would. I highly recommend if you ever get that many Bitcoins again you find a way to store them offline immediately, that way it won't happen again, I'm trying to mess around with the client Armory myself because that allows you to do such a thing.
8185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Facts about the blocksize issue on: February 22, 2013, 04:21:25 AM
This whole blockchain thing is way beyond my simple scripting knowledge but what I can't understand if there's such a problem with the blockchain why not make a currency that can handle that kind of thing? Or better yet, come up with an entirely new system that works without the problems involved. This is what open source is about and what the internet is for, you have programmers from all over the world who could very easily just get together and solve the problem. Granted, they obviously wouldn't be able to mess with the original Bitcoin code but they could easily grab it and make an alternative currency that works better like with Litecoin, at least that's what I think.
8186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How long should we give Wired magazine to retract their story and apologize? on: February 22, 2013, 03:58:38 AM
That's how propaganda works Vernon715 Cheesy honestly, if you've noticed that, I'm sure you'll notice it all over the other news places now too since they all do it to some degree.
8187  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What Do You Use Bitcoins for? on: February 22, 2013, 03:44:13 AM
. Inflation is the main reason I'm using Bitcoin, there's no way in hell I'm going to let myself get screwed over by the baby boomer generation like so many before me

. Since it's in demand universally it's going to be amazing for travel, I'm saving up so I can go to places, I may even move out of the UK altogether at this rate

. Supporting stuff like Bitcoin pisses off governments and government loyalists, so I'm all for it

. The anonymous and open source nature of Bitcoin really does just make it wonderful I don't have to sign a stupid cheque to send it, I don't have to worry about practically hacking my way into my own bank account to get at my money, in fact I don't think I've looked at my bank account properly for a good few months now because it's such a pain to do so compared to Bitcoin, I also don't have to worry about everyone spying on what I'm doing

. Various other business things that are none of your business Wink Cheesy

You may have deleted a bit of extra code or something you needed by accident, if you can undo it and try it another way >_< coding is a pain, I think I prefer simpler stuff like HTML if you think this is bad look at C++ Cheesy
8189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How long should we give Wired magazine to retract their story and apologize? on: February 22, 2013, 12:45:35 AM
Wired is irrelevant now so who cares.

Going to places like Wired for tech news and knowledge is a bit like trying to shop at PC World, you just know you're not going to get any intelligent responses.
8190  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitinstant customer support a joke on: February 22, 2013, 12:08:06 AM
You know, I was going to come up with a witty write up and try to read the OP's post properly but honestly after having to deal with my dad recently have a tech problem thanks to him using Microsoft Outlook ( Which I'm sure many of you will agree is a pretty crappy piece of software ) and him refusing to believe that the software was what the problem was the only response I can really think of is this.

....................../´¯/)
....................,/¯../
.................../..../
............./´¯/'...'/´¯¯`·¸
........../'/.../..../......./¨¯\
........('(...´...´.... ¯~/'...')
.........\.................'...../
..........''...\.......... _.·´
............\..............(
..............\.............\...

I'm sorry but the very least you could do is write up your post properly with decent paragraphing and not stupidly post your personal email for everyone to see and spam with virus' and malware so I won't think you're just stupid.

Edit: Edit and Delete buttons are awesome, you should use them on forums that provide them.
8191  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Gold in Death Cross Pattern on: February 21, 2013, 04:40:21 PM
This isn't anything to do with gold being a bubble or anything like that, usually that's called profit taking, when gold reaches massive highs a sell off usually follows as everyone cashes in from their investments, with the way the central banks are rabidly printing cash right now gold is just simply going to go up again.
8192  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What could really stop bitcoin now? on: February 21, 2013, 12:18:23 PM
Why didn't I know about this site?! Now I'm going to be reading it constantly because that's just a million times better than the stupid overly negative mainstream news I see thrown everywhere Tongue
8193  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Litecoin is described pretty harshly on the bitcoin wiki on: February 21, 2013, 12:06:34 PM
I call bollocks on some of these criticisms actually because they sound very similar to what people criticize Bitcoin for doing and I suspect they have no idea how it works.

Vulnerability to mining monopoly - They clearly don't understand basic economics or how unregulated free markets work and as far as I'm aware Litecoin follows the same rules as Bitcoin for the most part but there is simply a bit more Litecoins that can be mined

Pyramid scheme - Another case of not having much knowledge because they don't take into account these kind of currencies are deflationary so prices will go down rather than up and make everything cheaper for everyone rather than force them to borrow in order to get things and work off their debt for longer

hmm >_<
8194  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin desperately needs a real estate company on: February 21, 2013, 11:40:08 AM
The guys who set up Burnley Savings and Loans are fantastic,  I could actually drive to where they are no problem and talk to them about Bitcoin but honestly I think when it comes to businesses like this you have to take into account all the legal problems that would come with accepting Bitcoins the central banks have had an almost absolute monopoly over money for almost a century, I think Bitcoin needs to gain more 'official' support before we introduce it to the more normal people out there.

The guy on the left in the photo is supposed to be there legal person and I can guarantee you what he'll most likely say is "It sounds like a great idea but the government hasn't even said whether it's legal yet so we probably shouldn't accept them for now".
8195  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Heyo on: February 21, 2013, 11:15:49 AM
lmao watch yourself, I personally don't mine because I don't think it's worth it but I'm getting addicted to watching the prices and stuff too >_< need to focus on my work so I can earn more Bitcoins Cheesy welcome Tongue

Quote
Obama has put the Department of Homeland Security in the hands of a really disturbing cabal of obese, self-loathing communistic ultra-feminist lesbians.  Knowing this group, passive-aggressive targeting of "breeders" and children is pretty much right up their alley.

What about the incredibly stupid, racist and fear mongering right wing Christians that are among them and think it's okay to beat children or send them off to fight in wars for no good reason? I hate them all, particularly the ones that assume I must be on the opposite side because I disagree with them and they don't know any other political ideologies the stupid pricks.
8197  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Government agents shooting at targets with picture of Pregnant American Woman on: February 20, 2013, 10:39:36 PM
Got annoyed with the stupid patriotic ranting a couple of minutes into the video but I got the message, while this kind of psychological training is used all the time it is a scary idea that they're being trained to get used to shooting regular people but to me this is also seems a bit manipulative because the whole gun debate much like with a lot of things that provoke Americans easily has far too much propaganda on either side to come to a sane conclusion really.

I can't speak for the police or the army obviously but from what I know the usual reasoning behind this kind of training is to make it so that the officers are put under lots of psychological pressure as if they were in a real situation so that if the real thing does happen in front of them they know how to deal with it. We do a similar sort of thing with the karate training I do where we properly attack someone so they can feel what it's like to have someone come at them and they know if their techniques will work. Still don't know why the fuck they would ever need to shoot at targets of children and women though.
8198  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wanna help with Bitcoin in Africa? on: February 19, 2013, 05:11:57 PM
a bitcoin to M-Pesa portal would be a good start

This is the correct way to "help"! Don't give people things, trade with them as equals.

Either that or share knowledge with them.
8199  Other / Off-topic / Re: My 2,000 BTC is all gone :( on: February 19, 2013, 04:35:01 PM
In this case it probaly would have been best to finance the vehicle and make payments with deflating bitcoins over several years. Hmm... a new car sounds like a good idea. Is that a hybrid?

Hybrids are for absolute suckers.
8200  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: unconfirmed on: February 19, 2013, 08:16:04 AM
If you're talking about unconfirmed transactions you'll just have to wait awhile, they should then get confirmed automatically and your transaction should go through.
