You're a little late asking this since Gox. Most of the people that lost a lot are gone. But due to security issues I lost about 200 BTC.
200 BTC is quite a fair sum. What security issues caused the loss? Mostly key management, but I'm at a loss for much of it. I brought these issues to the attention of the devs and they added safeguards for future loss prevention. That's why I'm still helping fight FUD and not divested. Was this with BTC or another currency out of curiosity? I never fiddled much with anything other than Bitcoin. I lost a bunch because I started a brainwallet type trivia game and imported one of the private keys into a hotwallet. Another was an issue with how I used BIP38. Others were related to backups and possibly a stolen laptop. What I have left is hopefully well secured. Loss is such a tought teacher. I've started being paranoid since the day I risked to lose 1000DRK for security issues.

Since there is a solid chance of the presence of a backdoor being backed in a wallet, I strictly suggest to run wallets from unknown source (ie every new altcoin) on a virtual machine isolated from the rest of your trusted wallets. One of the first moves made by every virus/backdoor backed is to look for every wallet.dat on your harddisk. One my favourite setup is -host for daily use -vm trusted wallets -vm untrusted
VM1 and VM2 won't communicate between them. It won't need that much to be setup.

I believe Miracledev won't come back anymore. That's a shame considering it looked like he was an honest guy. Anyone willing to takeover MCL?

lol you guys are too defensive with no reason, calling fudder and insult everyone who doesn't think in your way or just might "harm" your investment . We are on a public forum, you do not tell me do not post here cause I always speak in a polite manner. Bassguitarman revealed that Mchrono is not able to code at all, you wouldn't know this without him. You should thank him actually. I repeat, I hope this project will be delivered. Good luck

Why do you guys say SDC got the best anon solution? Has it been proven? Where can I find some info of that compared to the other private coins? Thank you, regards.
Seen the benchmarks in the wp? Not able to compare that with other projects? I am not able to compare them. What does it mean? Is there anything for dummies? Between are you looking for a code audit or the tech is already bulletproof against all possible attack vectors? Once I heard on this forum that an anon off-chain solution is better than an on-chain one, is it true?

I was about to invest on Storj back in august, the concept looked totally cool for me, but then I totally forgot about it. Missed a huge chance, good luck with your project!

I didn't feel comfortable anymore after the chat logs been released by bassguitarman so I dumped 10days ago, there were too many red flags for me at that given point. Anyway best of luck for the devs and for who's still in I hope I will regret it one day and the project succees, it was a really cool one tho.
Glad to help You're pathetic Bassguitarbitch...... He just stated some legit concerns as an investor, went more in-depth by asking direct questions to Mchrono and then informing the community. He is a respected member of the community, no need to insult him. Is he harming your investment? No, Mchrono is.

The same thing happened to me as Piggo around the same time frame. I believe it was the 30th of Nov. I received a payment after having tested a mn setup procedure at home using two separate boxes. Wanted to make sure I could set up the local/remote scenario properly before I tried to start tinkering with other set up possibilities. I had the node online for about 15-20 min. tops before shutting it down after verifying it was on the list. I was surprised to see I had gotten paid obviously, but I wasn't complaining. 😄
I also have a MN that hasn't been paid in 6 days.. And my other has been paid twice in that period.. Will keep waiting. I believe that you are just facing some variance.

No I meant what are the risks of using a vltr, amazon or digitalocean VPS since you are using a cold storage setup beside being DDOSed?
The risk is the easy target for FUD that using mostly a few VPS operators will provide. The more decentralized the MN network is, the better. Gotcha. Maybe it'll be better to just leave the minimum VPS requirements in order to run a MN and to remove the vps provider names from the MN guides such as Tao's to make newbies do their own research.
