Private key or mnemonic word are vital things , without them you're losing your wallet for eternity.
Unlike bank's password, you can retrieve it as long as you can prove yourself by giving your identity etc but bitcoin wallet is different so you must extra care by keep them in safe place !

AFAIK , it can be hack but as long as you updated the wallet, I think you can worry less.
I'm usually use etherium as my offline wallet and I always update it so over 2 years that I've use it, I'm never experience any problem !

I knew bitcoin on 2014 and guess what, bitcoin value increase more than 500% in 4 years !

Usually altcoin follow bitcoin based value except if some altcoin experience uptrend , it means that the demand for that altcoin has increase and may compete bitcoin in the future.

So yeah.. it's depend on supply and demand overall !

It's completely different things because bitcoin just like gold as an asset.

If you live where your government forbid bitcoin usage may become the primary reason why people don't believe crypto.
For me, I'm looking a profit although the risk are greater than ordinary investment so it's reasonable for the government because they want to protect their people from harm !

But for some reason, bitcoin become quite stable on this year so I'm also afraid that bitcoin will reach another downtrend for the first time over 8 past year that already exist !

My suggestion is hold , just take a look on bitcoin over past 8 years, it's value continue uptrend , right ?

For me, altcoin far more riskier than btc because totally unpredictable. So before decide to invest on altcoin, make sure that they have stable and cooperative community.
If you believe it will increase in the future, you can just HOLD it but if you can afford to loss, cut loss become the wise solution !
