This guy got robbed, got his Binance funds stolen, and after all... He took a picture of his upside-down room, and uploaded it to Twitter. Hasn't he learned his lesson yet?
Nope, he is looking for compassion online which he may get and also may get more criminals attention.
Disheartening to see that he is tracking the criminal and he still have the mind to post this online and makes his plans public.
Hope he will relocate and live a more private life to avoid really losing his life.

Op, this part shouldn't be added to your translation, I advice you removed it.
We should be cautious of how we speak of our Bitcoin investment, even if we are trying to teach or introduce Bitcoin to someone to avoid jealousy or for such person to  know your worth not just friends but relatives because jealousy or issues can come from anyone.
The Internet is not a friendly place if you take your privacy and security simply then get ready to face the dangers of it especially the threat of KYC which is one of the easiest ways hackers and scammers can get a complete details about you.
845  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: With the current hardship?? on: November 07, 2023, 04:07:24 AM
The economy is bad and will still get worse but the fact is that it doesn't mean you have to be taking your invested bitcoin. To avoid all this set up plan for your bitcoin investment, invest in a amount that you know will not affect your cost of living, you are investing not saving so if you continue to take what will now be left of your investment funds?
846  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Bitcoin still Bitcoin on: November 07, 2023, 02:50:45 AM
It's been a year now since the whole FTX crash, which affected stock, forex and crypto market. Alot of people said bitcoin will die follow up the dip by bitcoin after the crash now is a year and bitcoin is still bitcoin beating every challenges to prove others wrong. CEX really has helped us in p2p but it's as cost more harm than good aside from the FTX crash other CEX has crash which has affected the crypto space but bitcoin is constantly showing reasons why its bigger than them. In the long run I believe everyone will go back to DEX and using custodian wallet or maybe if SEC gives a proper regulation to CEX because though they are called crash most has been more of a scam or foolish decision by the founder.
Questions :
  • During the FTX crisis what your belief on bitcoin?  As for me at that time I was not an active member of the forum or know anything about bitcoin and so I believe those false claims
  • Do you think will soon stop using CEX and opt for DEX and non custodian wallet?
847  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HODL is purely a mental challenge on: November 07, 2023, 02:16:00 AM
Within reason, I personally don't mind the idea of overly investing into bitcoin, but each of us needs to try to make sure that we have our emergency funds covered and our cashflow, so that we do not get into a financial and/or psychological pickle because we had been overly investing into BTC.
I guess this is something most of don't get, invest what you know you can afford while still being able to live your life the way you live. Bitcoin investment is not ponzi schemes that would crash, so you don't need to panic buy or sell but no body should still be having this mentality,
It's been a year since the FTX crash the term bitcoin is doom is over but bitcoin is still bitcoin with this and the previous challenges bitcoin will rise above all and soon people will see no need for CEX because bitcoin has overcome all the challenges CEX to the crypto world and so opt for DEX and non custodian wallet and it will be bitcoin or bitcoin investment.
Sometimes the biggest issues is during the bull run, though your plan was to HODL for 2 years and suddenly like 6 months time, the process surge some might be tempted to sale even before it reach their expected ROI.
848  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: November 06, 2023, 10:30:52 PM
Sitting down to watch Tottenham vs Chelsea. Expecting Tottenham to win but wouldn’t surprise me if Chelsea took a point, they’re a weird team. Lots of talented individuals but no cohesion, can Poch get them fired up for this game?

Spurs 1-4 Chelsea

Was a feeling Chelsea would win but never expected Jackson to score an hatrick, when last a Chelsea player/striker did that in Epl. Chelsea really need him to be consistent then hope of getting to top 4 would be possible
849  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Is the devaluation of naira really the problem on: November 06, 2023, 04:35:55 AM
Our schools also need to change the kind of things dem de put for there curriculum. E go make sense Make we really identify wetin be our problem and make sure say we train the younger ones on how to take tackle this problem, you go see say we go begin experience serious positive change for we country.
The curriculum is not the main issue, in fact the curriculum is still working fine, the main issue here is the
Frequent strike, lack of proper amenities for research, hike of school fees, exam malpractice and corruption.

There have been various reasons aside ASUU why most schools go from strike lately while this year in some federal and state university students have been on riot all because of the school fee hike.

We can say we are taught the theoretical aspects in Nigeria universities and it becomes worst when your course of study is more of practical than theory like those studying biochemistry, microbiology, chemistry and other highly practical courses. The course outside Nigeria are highly respected but in here they have little or no value even most studying didn't choose these courses they where transferred to it and they continued with the mentality of make I just get bsc and then start a business or do something else while those who are able to further will be grateful to God if they can study outside the country because even if you get PhD in these fields your knowledge will still be vague simply because of inadequate research facilities.

Exam malpractice and corruption has been the worst in academic, malpractice in common entrance (primary 6 exam), malpractice in junior waec(JSS3 exam ), malpractice in SSCE (waec and neco), malpractice in jamb and post utme and then malpractice and blocking till they graduate or to end the hassle someone can just go buy a certificate from the school. Imagine someone who did graduate like this what does he/she has to offer the society.  Funny how we criticise governments on buying results when we do such that also.
those not meriting a course will be given admission even with their low grades simply because of connection the ones with the cut off mark will be turned down is part of what affect the education system in Nigeria

With the cover up on criminal investigation, citizens won't be having their privacy, governments now see themselves as parents in the country and every citizen as a little child who are under the surveillance of anything they do especially online.
As the world is turning to a global village, government and big tech companies like Google will do all means (they claim to legal) to infringe on individuals privacy.
Now people will value the anonymity of Bitcoin and the you use of DEX.
852  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: To get bitcoin meetup go be bad idea? on: November 05, 2023, 04:00:47 AM
You know its not feasible for us to all come together aside the fact that some of us would love their privacy, we live in different states and so this makes it hard for such meet up, seems like some members in some certain state has a physical meet up one time.
Your 2 and 3 points are good but something we are already doing here so there is no need for the stress of making physical meet up and not all will be able to attend especially the beginners who will need the teaching so here is better
853  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Is the devaluation of naira really the problem on: November 04, 2023, 09:31:06 PM
Most Of us Nigerians get it wrong on what is causing our economy instability to move from worst to worst, most of us thinks the naira devaluation is the cause of it which is not true but the devaluation is as a result of some of these factors below which I will give you a clear reason for this, because 1 naira is greater than 1 south Korea won but South Korea has a stable economy and  this reasons include:
  • Commodity imported to Nigeria is greater than the commodity exported out of Nigeria and this has caused inflation in our country, our focuses has been more on exporting oil which is affected by the Russian war, the price of oil is volatile while south Korea focuses on exporting technologies like electronics, machines and others.
  • Nigeria has less financial systems supporting businesses and our bad road, insecurity and power supply, has affected our productivity in the likes of getting farm produce or raw materials and this has been a discouragement to foreign investors while South Korea does not lack in any of this
  • lack of proper education, corruption and bad government has been among the major decline of our economy while in South Korea education has a really high standard and the corruption there is not like ours while the government are still alot better than ours.

Question
Will the increase of the value of naira makes the country ore stable or except this problem is solved our will continue to devaluate?
854  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: November 04, 2023, 08:46:32 PM
The financial foals should be parted into two, short-term and long-term goal then only it is possible to achieve them one by one but most of the retail investors including crypto community set their goals longer but they miss to see the obstacles in the near future such as sudden changes in the market which will make them to panic and make wrong choices which will go against what they planned initially.
I think I will disagree with you on this becausen in as much as our financial goal on investment is making profits but considering a short-term investment as a back up investment is not ideal for me.

From your statement you mention the obstacle or challenges for long time holding is a sudden change on market, perhaps you are misunderstanding short-term to long term holding because there is know way you could be affected by a sudden market movement when you are holding for long.

Well it depends on your definition of short-term investment because as an investor the only way to be at peace and free from price panicking is by holding for a long time because achieving anything on short-term investment on Bitcoin is like a gambling but if you hold you will likely see  the benefits.
I told in terms of a broader perspective not just for the crypto and its important to note that I am saying it for the retail investors.

This is a fair clarification in terms of some kinds of investment principles and practices are going to be generally applicable across all forms of investing...   There still are needs to distinguish between timelines, which you seem to be pointing out... and so there might be some kinds of investments that people make that have very short timelines, and so the shorter the timeline, then maybe the distinction between investing and trading (even gambling) will become blurred if people are getting in and out of some of their investments because they consider them as short term plays.
Parting goals into long-term and short-term can also be applied to HODL, for example, let's take one year as short-term and 10 years as long-term and their goal is to accumulate 5BTC. It is important to have a goal of accumulating a certain amount for every year according to their risk tolerance then only it is possible for them to achieve their ultimate goal of accumulating 5BTC.

If they don't have any plan but only have the goal of accumulating 5BTC at the end of 10 years their goal may look out of their reach so set the tone gradually then only it is possible to reach great heights as a bitcoin retail investor.
True, but you don't literally have to categorised it as short and long term, since you can accumulate daily to get to your desire investment plan amount.
I prefer you use the term accumulate to your desire investment amount, this makes simpler for everyone to get your point easily.
Sudden change of price does not affect short term and longer term investment but only traders. Also wondering someone who is HODLing bitcoin will now be affected by FUD, someone HODLing should have set an investment plan goal to achieve and not worry about FUD that leads to panic sell since bitcoin is not altcoin.

I agree that we shouldn’t waste your time on anything other than Bitcoin. I believe that even if he showed himself poorly in the moment with the Ordinals, his price will fly into the sky in any case, even if it takes many years. Even then, it will be ranked as the number one rare cryptocurrency. Therefore, my faith in him is strong.
I believe that the line between a trader and a holder is very thin. Yes, it lies in the frequency of transactions in the market. But if I can buy once a month with a pending order at the lows, and once a month sell at the highs (rarely too) - am I a holder or a trader?
You are a Trader don't forget there are also something called long and short term traders
Quote
Short-term trading involves much shorter holding periods, ranging from days to weeks, whereas long-term trading involves holding positions for months to years.
855  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Explanation on the orphan and stale block on: November 04, 2023, 10:23:15 AM
Was reading about Blockchain on Wikipedia to know more historically about it but I stumbled upon something new to Me, which was about the orphan block, which are not included on the main chain of the blockchain. During my research I discovered it's also referred to as stale block then later found out that there is a difference between them. Please what is the difference?

Also, according to the image above, why is the orphan block still added to the blockchain though is not on main chain of the blockchain?
856  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: November 03, 2023, 07:10:49 PM
From the news circulating now, it seems that Manchester United management is ready to fire Erik Ten Hag even though he has to pay a large amount of compensation. Even rumors regarding potential successors at Manchester United have also begun to circulate, including:

1. Zinedine Zidane
2. Roberto De Zerbi
3. Xabi Alonso
4. Graham Potter, and
5. Hansi Flick
Zidane and Hansi Flick, are the only two coach available for them here, Xabi probably going to Real Madrid if Ancelotti leaves Madrid or will just remain in Leverkusen,  De Zerbi doesn't seem like a good replacement because Potter had a good stat before becoming one of the most worst coach in Chelsea history and also he may not be able to control the players from the fact that some of the players are bigger than him. Zidane and Hansi Flick are man United best pick but I think Manchester United fans will prefer Zidane.
857  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How is Bitcoin ATM machine help in most countries on: November 03, 2023, 02:48:26 AM
Would preferred the topic to be How will Bitcoin ATM machine help in Nigeria because we are in our local board and outside this, the reason for using Bitcoin Atm may varies from country to country.  Some of the ways in which this would be helpful in Nigeria include:
  • This would have help alot in making Nigerians see how useful bitcoin can be aside being seen as a means of investment, making payment for goods and services with bitcoin will be accepted by many even making international payments
  • The chance of falling for p2p scam will be reduced and it may not require more Kyc verification like the CEX depending on the transaction amount or the government regulations.
  • The government can generate revenue from this, either through license sales in order for those who has a license to be eligible to set up their bitcoin Atm or through taxes and may be both ways.
858  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: November 02, 2023, 05:02:39 AM
I'm surprised and it seems my prediction about this match between Arsenal and West Ham was not right at all because I was thinking considering the performance I saw from Arsenal in the previous games and the results this team got in the Premier League, they could easily beat West Ham is this match however they got more opportunities than West Ham in this match but still it didn't help them at all.
Arsenal wasn't perform bad, but they're just unlucky. However this is not a problem because it's only a big mac trophy, they have another focus to win Champions and Premier League.
In the long run Arsenal has not been consistent we saw it last season and probably its already happening this season by next year it will be seen in their Epl matches while I don't see them as contenders for the Champions league

regarding Man United poor performance, there will be no hope of winning the title in the EPL or UCL, but even so, I just want to see MU finish in the best ranking at the end of this season like last season and I understand MU declining performance which is happening because they really dont have any formation the strong and right players you said in january Ten Hag chance of getting the right players was really right.
I will accept Man u not having the right formation but in terms of players they have a pretty strong team with alot of them having experience. Is more like they are either tired of Ten Hag or the way the club is being run.
859  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Giveaway Scam On the Rise on: October 30, 2023, 07:37:10 PM
Newbies should be careful of 4000BTC giveaways demanding for 1BTC to be eligible to win the giveaway.
If not greed/naivety why would someone expect something like 4000BTC, Elon Musk is a business man so why would someone just think he will just wake up and just do something like this when he is not getting anything from you. The only way he may give freely is through philanthropy  and making a single individual rich is not philanthropy.

People can be just foolish at times and is hard for them to break out of their fantasy (if only they can just wake up to reality). AI scam will continue and its can't be stop because just like how others are using the Internet for good others are using it for evil. All that glitters ain't gold especially on the Internet.

860  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen if there was only one cryptocurrency, which is Bitcoin? on: October 29, 2023, 04:54:00 PM
But, in my opinion, the price of Bitcoin is lower if it does not have a competition. Why? Because if there is no competition, the buyer's thinking is "should I buy this or not?" however if there is competition, the buyer's mind is "should I buy Bitcoin or these alts?"
Bitcoin price would have actually been higher because bitcoin price is not determined by the price/no of altcoins existing but how people sees it and more people would have invested more on and so there won't be any such thing as diversifying investment.

As a result, not just Bitcoin but other altcoins will benefit. So, rather than being upset or sad because there is a competition, we can look at it in a positive way.
There is really not any much positivity because altcoins have been filled with too many scams projects and this has affected the world judgements as a whole, market manipulators easily control the altcoin market and all this are among reasons SEC still have a reason not to accept bitcoin ETF
