Haha well no advantage for having the miners now unless you're a miner developer who wishes to optimize The new algo hasn't kicked in yet. Have 500 blocks to go or about 3.5 days.

Btw we have an ongoing poll on our Slack channel on exploring the implementation of incentivized nodes (Znodes) to help with Zerocoin spend transactions. What are your thoughts on implementing a super/masternode like system for Zcoin? Nothing binding and still in the early brain storming stage (also still need to assess technical feasibility). We just want to assess community sentiment.
Currently Zerocoin mints cost 0.1 XZC and spends are free. It's important to have a fee for minting to reduce spam but because processing Zerocoin spend transactions consume cpu resources (few seconds) with no fee, this makes it a problem for mining pools who dislike processing them.
One way is to relook at the fee structure and perhaps reduce the mint fee and have a spend transaction fee as well so to give pools some incentive to process them. We are unsure if this alone is incentive enough and as it scales, crappy nodes (such as rasp pis) will also have issues.
So on top of the relook of the fee structure, we are exploring a masternode like system where special nodes will incentivized to process spend transactions and take the load off pools and weak nodes. There will be a refundable collateral to ensure there's a stake involved so that damaging actions would also hurt their own investment. Currently we are not looking at instant transactions nor are we looking at voting using nodes. More details available in #poll channel. http://invite.zcoin.io:3000/ to get a Slack invite. Could it possibly take longer so I can get the CPU miner working and than mine this with my CPU for a bit before the difficulty gets blown up?
Setting up CPU miner should take 10 minutes. Difficulty is already blown up anyways. I dont know what kind of setup you have, but I'd guess youd make 0.5 XZC per day at most. Quoted for truth.

whre is GPU miner? any news on this ?
If all goes well within the next 2-3 days.

Seems like a lot of work for something that is planned to be obsolete in 2 months. Is the problem that bad that you can't wait? The pool issue is actually quite bad with frequent crashes.

ZCOIN-Wallet cannot synchronize! Not synchronous! Not synchronous!
No block source available. 117week(s) behind
For a few days it's still this way!
Go into your Zcoin installation directory and create a file called zcoin.conf Place this into your zcoin.conf connect=sf1.zcoin.io connect=sf2.zcoin.io connect=london.zcoin.io connect=nyc.zcoin.io connect=singapore.zcoin.io connect=xzc.suprnova.cc

whers is the new miner ?
Should be done by the end of the week. Testing it on Testnet to make sure it works well. If you want to help test you can do so on #mining on our Slack.

Our wallet stuck at block 18364 (4bd8ad46cdc1049d8a67b04f8c1f029a5fd252de3012411161c9361ef2fa685b)
"version":80702,"protocolversion":90018,"walletversion":60000
Getting weird lines in debug.log:
2017-01-31 00:54:13 keypool return 374 2017-01-31 00:54:16 PROCESS REVERSE 2017-01-31 00:54:16 ERROR: CTransaction::CheckTransaction() : COIN SPEND TX IN ZQ_WILLIAMSON DID NOT VERIFY! 2017-01-31 00:54:16 ERROR: CTxMemPool::accept() : CheckTransaction failed
Wallet has 10 connections to ver 80702 nodes.
Dev please, contact with instructions how to make it sync.
Do you have any spending/minting transaction in your wallet ? Looks like your client is getting rejected from network because of that transaction (bad transaction from my initial guess). If not could you add these connect nodes to ur conf file and restart the wallet ? connect=london.zcoin.finance connect=nyc.zcoin.finance connect=sf1.zcoin.finance
You could post more from debug.log so we could have a better guess. Thanks. Should be zcoin.io now, I also changed those entries.

Hello, I wanted to download the MAC wallet but the gibhub has like 4 different files and dmg's. Which one i should download?
There is no way to mine coins with MAC isn't it?
Get the latest Dmg in releases no mac binaries at the moment but it's probably not worth it for single computers anymore.

There is a 0.1.8 release available at GitHub, but there's no any single word about it in the OP. I guess the OP should be updated. Was mentioned here: 8 January 2017New Zcoin release with wallet load fix out. Read more and download here. Also please participate in our poll to decide whether we should make our current algo more GPU friendly while awaiting MTP But you're right Will include version numbers. Thanks for the spot!

We are finally testing a temporary algorithm to span the 2 months until MTP is ready to make it more GPU friendly to make it less cloud-mining friendly.
If all goes well, we'll have a change ready for Monday and the 2 weeks notice will start to exchanges/pools and it will allow everyone to update their mining software and pools.
It might not be pure Lyra2 due to the urgent nature of the fix.
In other news, MiningPoolHub should be launching their pool soon with more accurate readings (this is still on old algo of course).

Well as mentioned, I don't recommend using prebuilt binaries from strangers that aren't recognized by the Zcoin team. Not to say that they're malicious, but you just never know and there have been attempts in this thread before to spread questionable binaries (and they often come from the most vocal people who are against the coin).
The only binaries that should be trusted are those that come from our links and maybe @aizensou who is also a dev with us.

Is poramin insom still there? Can u hear me eh ?? Im dumping and jumping off a derailed train bros. I know Poramin might show up and attempt to feed u with his regular encouraging bullshit but remember, dont trust anyone besides urself.
Lol he's still around Find us on Slack/Riot if you really need him. He has not been active on BCT for years (and definitely not since Zcoin was launched) since he thinks it's toxic and gets in the way of work, and who can blame him? If you didn't trust him because of his lack of public communication, why buy in the first place? You bought because of Gary?
