@PoolWaffle: WafflePool's profitability does seem to consistently climb a bit whenever sfire leaves.  Is this really just due to luck?  Seems weird to me.
No, it is basic economic. Less dumping of coins on market at once = higher price per coin for the rest of us.
I highly doubt that.  If we don't mine them, someone else will.  Also, considering we mainly mine Doge and LTC right now, we definitely are not moving the markets very much.

Edit: allow me to answer myself - based on our current block discovery rate (low), it definitely is just dumb luck - sfire's ("the whale") mining presence just seems to smooth out our profitability's variance.

I have no issue with being incorrect; however, there was an announcement on the main waffle site stating that it would be taking advantage of the 2x rewards. Every time the ghash.io jumps, waffle hash loses 20gh. Could be a single miner or could be proxying to ghash. I'm just going on observation and the announcement.
It's a Chinese group - they have posted on these forums as 'sfire' - that is moving the ~20GH/s back and forth.  PoolWaffle disabled proxying to GHash as soon as they implemented the tiered bonus scheme.

I think the catcoin was mined yesterday. If its not handled automatically by tomorrow I'll look into it (might just be confirming still - takes a decent bit to dig in).

As for mintcoin, still holding out hope, the guy keeps posting that he's working on getting the stuck withdrawals fixed (ours is this).  So maybe it will fix itself.  I've been holding off removing them and writing it off for now, cause its going to be a bitch to remove and then re-add.  For now, we'll wait about 1 more weke and then handle it.
I recall the catcoin being around for several days, but I could be remembering incorrectly.

Ahh, didn't keep up with the coinmarket happenings well enough.  I thought the coins were just sitting on the exchange, not stuck pending withdrawal.  Considering how much value the mintcoin has lost, I'd suggest the pool  take it as a bonus and sit on it for a while (and earn some PoS rewards) to see if the price climbs again with the  coin pure PoS.

<blah blah blah blah>
I have the full history of rounds and blocks since round 1 from GHash.IO (they have cleared stats twice), and sorry, but I am still correct.  The fact remains, sfire has yet to join GHash.IO when the pool is at a 2x bonus and therefore cause the bump to 1.25x.  The pool had consistently sat above 25GH for over 2 hours, and was showing no signs of decreasing anytime soon, when sfire last moved his power there.

Anyway, who cares... sfire would be equally as justified being pissed that he can't make 2x bonus and have everyone else leave the pool.  Guess their team just isn't as childish as some of the posters here.

---

Back on topic: WafflePool having a decent day today.

PoolWaffle: is there some stuck catcoin?  I seem to have some unconfirmed catcoin that has been sitting around for a while.  Is it just a long maturation time?

And what's up with the mintcoin we had stuck on coinmarket?  Is that just a lost cause that we can clear from the books?
865  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL] Profit switching pool - wafflepool.com on: March 17, 2014, 05:58:44 PM

GHash has been sitting above 25GH fairly consistently, with or without sfire mining there.

false, sfire is the one that put ghash over 25.  there was a hickup yesterday on ghash, where it didnt find a block for 30 minutes or so.  sfire switched back to wafflepool, ghash went below 25.

obviously, even with 1.25x, sfire deems ghash to be more profitable at this particular point.
You aren't watching the GHash offer as closely as I was then... sfire switched back to wafflepool after there was almost 1hr without a block found, ghash then spent a few rounds below 25GH before creeping above 25GH for over 2 hours before sfire put his hashing power back there.

Everyone rushes to blame the whale... but really, it's ridiculous.

Pool is either <25GH/s or above 45GH/s (+/-).
So wrong... this newb can't even read the stats on the GHash.IO page FFS... At 10:02:01 the pool went over 25GH/s... it stayed there until 12:01:17 (at 1.25x bonus) when sfire moved his hashing power back there and the pool shot up to 45GH.  Small miners pushed it over the 2x bonus mark, and it has nothing to do with sfire.  Yeeesh...

Waffle ensures no 2x reward for a very, very long time. Without them, we were getting plenty of 2x rewards.
What?  Waffle isn't mining on GHash.
866  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL] Profit switching pool - wafflepool.com on: March 17, 2014, 05:22:01 PM
because the whale will be back soon , he comes and goes all the time , he cant predict when he will be back and the last thing we want is servers crashing.
No... actually, "the whale" is a proportionately small load for the stratum server.  It's small miners that overload the server at lower difficulties.  If you want to bitch at someone about the 512 fixed diff, you should really be complaining about the people mining at <1MH and causing the majority of server load...

He'll be back. He's currently raping the ghash.io 2x reward down to 1.25 single handed... pretty sweet.

And just how is his mining at ghash.io equivalent to rape?  Would you please care to explain using some analogy including Hitler?

Check out the ghash.io promo and I think you would understand  Wink

<snip>
where do you get this application?
Please don't quote huge images...  It makes reading forums really annoying.

Just guessing, but that looks like a quick custom PHP web interface to the cgminer API.  See api-example.php : https://github.com/troky/sgminer/blob/master/api-example.php
868  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL] Profit switching pool - wafflepool.com on: March 16, 2014, 09:15:17 PM
sfire can you please f off with all your GHs and let us mine other coins...
What other coins?  sfire's hashing power isn't stopping WafflePool from mining anything right now.

@PoolWaffle: I think automatic shift length adjustment is much needed on WafflePool right now.  Maybe make a lookup table based on current hashrate?  Shifts are flying by way too fast right now (just over 1/minute).
869  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: March 16, 2014, 08:58:51 PM
15.2%? lol
The 3 is probably correct.  12 likely includes the "unrejected stratum shares" that are caused by a long-standing bug in CleverMining's stratum implementation, but are not actually additional invalid shares.
870  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL] Profit switching pool - wafflepool.com on: March 14, 2014, 09:44:14 PM
GHash.IO is back under 25GH/s now, and back to a 2x multiplier.

After watching the reward multiplier for a bit, this is definite:
- GHash.IO uses PPLNS where N covers the last 10 shifts.
- Reward multiplier is determined by the pool's average speed during the PREVIOUS round.

So, possibly a good strategy right now (until they change the rules again):
- Throw all of our WafflePool's hashing power at GHash for brief periods; rack up the share percentage in one round, and then cut everything when they switch rounds again.
- If we did this for one shift every 5 or 10 shifts, we could possibly  get paid out at 2x for the majority of rounds (as long as nobody else starts doing this).

<edited for clarity, with new information regarding rounds>

The newer BIOS supports a new RAM type.  Some cards that came with the new BIOS will not work with the old BIOS; vice-versa also seems likely, although I have not observed this myself.
Is the RAM still Hynix?
015.042.000.000.000000 supports:
  4096 MB, GDDR5, Hynix H5GQ2H24AFR
  4096 MB, GDDR5, Elpida EDW2032BBBG_DEBUG2

015.043.000.001.000000 supports:
  4096 MB, GDDR5, Hynix H5GQ2H24AFR
  4096 MB, GDDR5, Hynix H5GC2H24BFR

The rest of the BIOS appears to be majority the same thing.
872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X OC on: March 14, 2014, 06:27:35 PM
Only some cards with the newer BIOS cannot be downgraded.  Some still can.  Try and find out, or use a meminfo utility to find out if your RAM nodules are compatible with the old BIOS.
873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X OC on: March 14, 2014, 08:06:08 AM
Try STILT's BIOS.  It makes the mid-range memclocks (between 1375-1450) much higher performing.

where to download it?

Our whale left us for ghash.io  Grin Grin
Lol, looks like you might be right.

That 200% LTC block reward is bloody crazy.  At this rate, it will cost them a quarter million USD to run the promotion for a week.  But, GHash.IO is already the second largest litecoin pool, 30 hours after their first block was found.

Stop using trixx. It really sucks.  cgminer/sgminer can control your gpu clocks just fine.
877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: March 14, 2014, 02:30:09 AM
No assumptions made, Fact: You are discussing another pool and moving mining to that pool on this pools support thread. Dick Move
another Fact: You are a dick.
Oh psh. It is a perfectly relevant conversation, and should be of interest to most profit seakers that are mining here.  Get off your high horse and try contributing to the conversation, how about?
878  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL] Profit switching pool - wafflepool.com on: March 14, 2014, 01:11:25 AM
Altcoins are anything but independant of BTC. The recent slump is to be expected when BTC falls upon hard times in the public eye - less speculators with faith in BTC means even less speculators buying up cheap altcoins.  Scrypt ASICs from gridseed are also playing part, very likely.

If your power is expensive, scrypt mining with GPUs may soon be (or already be) unprofitable for you.  Such is reality.
879  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X OC on: March 14, 2014, 01:05:07 AM
Drop memclock to 1250, retest for stability. If that fails, drop engine clock by 10. Repeat until stable. (Change setting, run until crash, repeat). Some of the tri-x cards only run stable at lower clocks.

Also, Linux drivers tend to have better stability then Windows for the Hawaii chipsets, from my experience.

No point using i 19 with wafflepool, because they only count 2-blocks-late shares as stale.  Better off at I 20 or above, or using xintensity at up to 1100 (best value I have found for WafflePool for WU productivity).
880  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: March 13, 2014, 11:20:23 PM
WOW!

I really am getting 200% profitability.

I went to cex.io/r/0/Virosa/0/
Yeesh... screw off with the referal links, douche.

Talking about ghash.io's promo and how it affects CM is one thing, but that post was just stupid.
