You know it's interesting, I'm looking at countries other than the U.S which allow for gun ownership and Serbia of all places has almost 3,000,000 guns in civilian hands despite being a small country, the homicide rate seems to be much lower there than in the U.S if the data on this site is to be believed, the amount of guns held in government hands? 789,000, yep they barely have 1,000,000 you'd think with the logic you guys keep pulling the government would have rounded the civilian weaponry up but nope.

http://www.gunpolicy.org/firearms/region/serbia

I don't hear news about mass murder-suicide happening constantly over there so maybe the problem isn't guns, the problem is Americans.

Quote
Firearm Marking
In Serbia, a unique identifying mark on each firearm is required by law

Firearm Tracing
In Serbia, state authorities do not carry out recognised arms tracing and tracking procedures

Ballistic Marking of Firearms and Ammunition
In Serbia, state authorities employ ballistic fingerprinting technology to trace guns and ammunition

Interesting no?

BTC won't make it very long if this keeps up.

It's nothing to do with Bitcoin itself, it's stupid idiots who fuck up something on their computer and decide to blame what they're using for the problem rather than realising what happened, it's something technology has had to deal with for ages now, human stupidity, if you ever get a lot of Bitcoins the best solution is to clearly store it offline and make sure it is properly backed up. Sorry, you just reminded me of an argument I had with my dad when I was trying to tell him he needed to enter in information for the nameservers on my web host when even a support staff there said we needed to, then when he finally bloody did it, the website was working fine.
8656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it just me or do ALOT of bitcoin sites look just awful? on: December 24, 2012, 08:28:58 PM
Anything that is made by a programmer will make an average persons eyes bleed or their head hurt from my experience so we'll have to wait until Bitcoin becomes more mainstream before we see some prettier sites.

That's interesting, but unfortunately I'd only be able to use wire for certain things, what I need is sheets realistically, you can only use wires for making things like gemstone settings etc. in Jewellery.

Captcha just sucks, I've used it on my site and it does nothing, determined bots will get past it one way or another and you also have to acknowledge the fact it's fucking annoying to get past them as a human, the only ones I've found remotely bearable are the numbered ones. Like DRM it's an over-marketed heap of junk that claims to do something but in reality it does nothing to combat the thing it was designed to stop and can be abused in all sorts of ways.
8660  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Poll for gun control activists: on: December 24, 2012, 01:49:26 PM
I used to be anti gun but now I can see advantage in the Swiss approach of everyone having to own a gun by law.

20 dead kids seem worth it for the ability to defend the country from the various powers that be.

I think that's the best solution as well, I don't agree with giving an armed mob weapons but getting people who want to own guns to train with them properly will allow people to keep an eye out for crazies too, the swiss have proven gun ownership can work, but of course from what I've seen lately being anti-gun is more of a religion than anything to do with rational thought and whenever a something horrible happens involving guns it's only then they get riled up about it.

I'm actually fully supportive of what the swiss do, I just wish it wasn't compulsory, but you shouldn't be able to get a gun either if you're not willing to do the training anyone sensible would do before getting one.
