Some thoughts about DVCs.

I had a great time discussing with Mark DVCs yesterday. With any luck his new Net device might allow some kind of online chat to happen. Nothing like people to people interaction. These are discussions mark and I have had many times over the last two years though the community to participate in has not revealed itself until now.

Thing to remember, DVCs are not an investment tool, they are a trading tool.

DVCs are about community and trust which seems a bit odd considering the trust-less nature of cryptos though it makes perfect sense when you consider realities like Gox and Moo.

Crypto systems aren't really trust-less. On a technical level they appear to be but theory and practice are remain separate realities. Perhaps in distant utopian future block chain technology will supersede people. 'I for one welcome our blockchain overlords'

A term that comes up a lot is 'accelerator'. A system like DVCs won't nescesarily make a shit ton of money. DVCs facilitate hedging and community solidarity. What I see DVCs becoming is a central core of community around which considerable development will take place. DVCs will act as an accelerator, binding a core community of not only well meaning and positive community members, but technically skilled and individually dynamic entrepreneurs.

A comment I made yesterday to mark was "it feels a little, 'Blue Blood'." This sounds negative but it isn't. Ween out the passengers, reward the dynamic and active elements of a community and utilise the drive and dynamic personalities available in a self serving but also community (in this case UNEX but also UNO) supporting way. Our version of 'blue blood' is intelligence, drive and a willingness to put in the work. If people call you a bastard for rewarding those qualities...

Get rich and develop the platform upon which that wealth will ultimately grow from. DVCs are an accelerator to that purpose.

All technical aspects of DVCs are in my mind tangible/beta/malleable. No point getting hung up on specifics when the technological possibilities are still in infancy. DVCs exist in the NXT Asset system because mark an I have the resources to do that now. If a better opportunity or solution arises there is no shame or regret in adapting to it.

Mark is out for a few days while his patch cable arives. After which were hoping for better more reliable net for him.
Wow! Thanks for those explanations! Let Mark know that I am trying to get the NXT wallet setup for your next experiment!

do we have any risk in calling these DVCs in being confused with Dev Coin?

Might be a good lead for the person to handle the UNO page for Chinese speakers?

I just accidentally discovered that UNO is traded on an exchange called eCoinFund.
http://www.ecoinfund.com/market=25
Looks like it has been there awhile. Did anyone know about it?
Chinese. Had never heard of it. Guess we should add it to the OP.

Hedges Register:

Hedge001/Sirsmokes
Hedge002/Sirsmokes
Hedge003/Repunza
Hedge004/IMZ
Hedge005/Bitcoin National [How did Hedge005 get an extra '0'? Good help is so hard to find]

Keep practising the arithmetic, campers. Volatility makes the Hedges world go around. The low price of Bitcoin and the weakening price of silver has kept the Project from gaining pace, but things are looking better.

Great to see that they're about sold out!

@balu2 ... good thinking, and IMZ was way ahead on this one.
The Hedges are exactly that ETF, and the F = .999 fine 2oz of shiny silver.
Get in on the game  Roll Eyes

Re: the bigger picture

We don't need to be on Wall St.
We create our own institution the P2P ETFs backed by UN Clearing House International.

Plus I can go from cash in my pocket to holding an UNHedge in about 1hr (really ... cash>btc>uno>UNhedge)
Can you do that with the big boys ETFs?

1.  Winkivoss twins couldn't be more pure blue blood WASP elitist ... they ARE the essence of the ivy league ... they stink of bloody old money and privilege. Wink Wink is highly connected to the powers that be.  AND they are stuck +18months in review/approval Huh

2.  We need to be about X5 bigger than LTC to even consider paying the legal cost of round 1 of discovery/filing.

3.  The old system is BROKEN, let it go.  It's (mostly very) dead Jim.

4.  You can back UNO with a Wall St. ETF // it's easy all you have to do is set up a peg clearly define that X uno = Y wall street trade certificates (and Honestly honor this promised price index // building trust in the p2p trust network).  UNO is the superblock of this new p2p trust network ... and it will expand to include peers in all well organized coin communities.  Welcome to the NEM Smiley

5.  If we really, truly, desperately yearn to be "Listed and High Frequency Trade" ... go around the wall NOT through the wall.  We can buy control of an already listed (yet very small) company.  DING! ps ... doesn't even have to be a Yankee registered company.

---
That said I am very interested in exploring an UNO backed 'asset'.
We should do them all >> NXT, BTSX, CP, and even a dogeparty.
We need to keep some continuity (use the same formula) but different players can manage/back the assets.
(do this to prevent public confusion)

BUT ... I'm not well informed (cuz I've avoid these 3rd Party coins) so guessing that the asset would be like the BitUSD or a NuBit?  1=1?

@ anyone that is familiar with NXT, BTSX, CP
What can we do?  And How?

I'm of the opinion to forget the ETF concept. That's Wall Street, I'm more ideological on the matter of UNO.  I prefer to do things "in house" as opposed to letting the entrenched interests dictate what UNO becomes.

However, as an open community, there's nothing stopping those that wish to go that route from heading there. I simply prefer IMZ's hedge model.

130 uno for 1 btc is cheap uno, no matter what the price of bitcoin is.

P.S.  How many posts do you have to have to break out of newbie status?

I'm fairly certain that an activity is a post to a public forum. Only the first 14 posts during a 14 day period count toward the member's ranking status.

That's kind of what I was thinking. People are trying to copy UNO. The sincerest form of flattery!  Roll Eyes

obvious smearcampaign is obvious.

The weiner-haters try to cook up a story for weeks now and fail miserably with it. It's unsubstantial trashtalk is my impression too. Most involved in moving this forward are younger than 22. Some 4chan-kids trying to cause some havoc because they bought into razor and that didn't work out.
As long as no informations are delivered this is all smoke.

The best thing those people can show to substantiate their non-arguments is a meme with a bryce-quote. That's about it.

I understand completely, perhaps you should reevaluate

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king
You're exactly right. Anyone NOT taking a position in UNO will wish that they had listened...

UNO don't pump!
896  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should Bryce Weiner remain a dev of UNO? on: November 10, 2014, 10:58:22 PM
Again, my take is that the currency is bigger than any singular party. The community is what makes the coin special. Community makes it special now and will make it special in the future. We own Mr Weiner a debt of gratitude for working with blazr2 to create the coin, but we as the community have been the active party on the go forward basis.

My other point is that there are many bad actors that hold US dollars and euros, but that does not necessarily make those currencies bad in and of itself. Obviously, those currencies have other structural flaws, but not due initial developer.

@Edgar still hoping there's a recovery tool that will work for you!

Have you tried Recuva?  http://www.piriform.com/recuva/download/portable

You may now be in the realm of professional recovery services.
Did you try to right-click and copy?

Also, did you try to access the directory in DOS mode from the command prompt?

miningpool.co -- that I had been happily using for some time now -- seems to have gone completely AWOL over the last two days.

Any good pool recommendations?

At first I was using uno.coin-pool.org.  It seemed pretty decent, except for one glaring flaw: if I kept the stats page open for a while, it would crash my Windows 7 system.  Not just the browser, my entire system -- hard reboot-city!  Never seen anything like it before.  Happened four or five times, so I moved on.  Tried the .uk one for oh a week or so, then IT went AWOL!

Which pools are Un miners here using now?

I use coinpool.org and never have had a trouble.
