I just noticed your sig:

Quote
My BTC mining address : 1NoRoihSKUCsXy1XKuy5KaFhqZsad1ETUn

You've accepted you've been screwed. Therefore, why all the fuss?

You do realise if you mine 5BTC with a Neptune and the price of BTC skyrockets to $2000/coin, all that means to you is you make back what you spent.

The guys with sense and good timing got back 22BTC for Neptune refunds. And if the price of BTC skyrockets to $2000/coin, they will have pocketed a cool $44,000. With no hassles, no electricity costs, no RMA's etc.

Argue away, but you do know you were screwed by KNC. I don't see why you are defending them. Unless it's Stockholm Syndrome Wink

i got 21 BTC in fiat back from my originally bought Neptune with ~11 BTC. Thank you KNC for giving me the option to refund at around $1150 BTC price. Zero reason for me to hold on to my Neptune order in February when i can just get twice the amount of BTC without the risk of ASIC preorder blues.
Bought 20 BTC when it was ~$40
preordered a Neptune with ~11 BTC
refunded and used the fiat to buy ~21 BTC
zero heartache now about KNC screwing me over.

Funny thing about refunds, they only help the company with confidence of its consumers if they actually stick to their promises and production schedule.

I can guarantee you im not the only one that was keen enough to understand that if you used BTC to order a neptune at the high of the price then you basically locked in selling BTC at that price if you refunded.

Im not surprised they eventually are flipping over their refund policy. They are probably bleeding BTC for fiat like crazy now that it costs twice as much BTC to get fiat refunds into peoples hands.

884  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: EBA: Investors should avoid Bitcoin, identifies 70 risks on: July 08, 2014, 02:22:57 PM
"The European Banking Authority (EBA) has weighed in on the use of virtual currency, and recommends that Bitcoin be avoided until regulatory systems are put into place.

A document prepared by the EBA for address to the European Commission and European Parliament sets out the regulatory body's opinion (.PDF) on virtual currency — such as Bitcoin, Litecoin and Peercoin — and warns financial institutions to keep their distance until the industry is regulated." -- Full story: http://www.zdnet.com/eba-investors-should-avoid-bitcoin-identifies-70-risks-7000031287/

who gives a F%$* what the EBA says. They have no weight on the legality of bitcoin.
885  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you sometimes think Bitcoin will fail? on: July 08, 2014, 01:20:48 PM
Bit coin is more likely to fail than succeed. The probability of failure is cited around 80% not least because it goes against the very ethos of our centuries old banking systems and the banksters don't like that.

68% of that statistic is made up
886  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why can't the Bitcoin development be more like Linux? on: July 08, 2014, 01:14:44 PM
Why can't the Bitcoin development be more like Linux?

Linux has a huge development team. So many people take part in updating it. If you run Linux on your computer, you will know there are always updates. All these updates are created by the open source community. So why can't Bitcoin development be more like Linux?

What are we missing? Or maybe the development team will grow as big as the team of Linux?

What do you think?

Linux development doesn't deal with billions of dollars of a store of value system
887  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $0.49/GH/s on: July 07, 2014, 01:35:12 PM
Chip cost 0.575$ Gh/s and 0.49$ Gh/s for +4400PCS.

You can get a full miner for well under $1 Gh/s.

Think carefully about your next move people and do the calculations especially in time to get something made and delivered as well as efficiency the device you intend or have made for you at the wall. The numbers are tight at best. Volume is the only way you can get the costs down. There is limited stock obviously. Please be careful out there when taking chips in lieu of miners.

people like to have 100% ROI promises instead of 10% ROI realities with ready to ship miners
888  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Question about Silk Road auction transaction. on: July 03, 2014, 04:23:01 PM
wow they had a $200,000 deposit in order to bid xD

I think that's just so they won't back out of paying after they won the bid.
They get it back after the auction.

Ah that makes sense... Although who would consider doing that?

thats why deposits are there for all markets
houses
renting
auctions
etc.
889  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New Egg accepting BTC? on: July 02, 2014, 01:20:29 PM
Holy cow. I thought it would be a bit longer before they implemented it - guess Overstock accepting it was a big turning point for them. Well it's nice to see more major retailers takig Bitcoin seriously, the more merchants there are the more consumers will be interested in it and possibly begin using it.

not too surprising. Tiger Direct has been accepting it for awhile now and I am sure Newegg doesn't like loosing all their potential bitcoin customers to their competition.
890  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 02, 2014, 01:06:29 PM
Did I read correctly that it only needs 2 PCI-e cables connected to run as normal (not overclocked)?

Correct. 2 for regular, 4 for OC'ing.

What I do not understand is this sentence: "Don’t parallel connected different DC input from different PSU into the same Hashing board." So does this mean you need two PSU if you're overclocking?

no it means gets a PSU that has 4 PCIE cables. Dont use two PSUs with 2 cables each
891  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Does anyone actually have AntMiner S2 1TH/s? on: July 02, 2014, 12:57:49 PM
hm, is anyone else shipping stuff at similar prices/THs?

s3s are out very soon. might want to check out the hardware thread. You'll fine tons of discussion topics on it

892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Marshals: One Auction Bidder Claimed All 30,000 Silk Road Bitcoins on: July 02, 2014, 12:42:15 PM
Ya know what is funny? That Coindesk article has links to source docs for some of its assertions, but it does not reference any statement by USMS themselves about the results.

Are they just making stuff up? If not, why not disclose the source? It's not like they are the paragon of investigative reporting.

They (US gov) gives the option for the buyer of any of their auctioned off seized or foreclosed properly to remain anonymous they desire. The fact the property which is BTC doesn't make a difference in that, unfortunately. The BTC community would like to have it disclosed, but the gov. could care less.

893  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: July 01, 2014, 02:16:59 PM

894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Investment Vehicles Beware – The SEC is Watching on: June 25, 2014, 03:38:47 PM

governments can still press felony charges for crimes. That's not limited to just their government issued money. The fact it is BTC is irrelevant. They don't have to own the financial instrument thats used in order to press charges...... If hacked into a server and stole say, 7 million EURO thats still a criminal offense (and a civil as well).

BTC doesn't make you immune to jurisdictions of governments

understandable thats why shavers should be in prison for theft of property. but voorhees should not be touched because they are trying to use financial law, not property law against him.

the SEC securities act
Quote
The Act also identifies and prohibits certain types of conduct in the markets and provides the Commission with disciplinary powers over regulated entities and persons associated with them.

you cant discipline someone that has not registered themselves to be regulated. you can only discipline someone that agree's to the corporations terms and policies by registering..

am i to assume that voorhees registered to the securities commission and then decided not to play by their rules?

i think you guys are failing to understand that if you don't follow the law of the country, regardless if you "registered" or not, you can still be criminally prosecuted by the state or federal government for breaking laws. You still have follow US law even if you deal in bitcoin. The SEC technically can prosecute anyone that doesn't follow the law that is under their jurisdiction. This is independent of civil action the investors may take down the road in civil court.

"financial law" doesn't mean civil law. This "finical law" as you call it is criminal law. The SEC has no grounds to charge civil crimes because they are a government agency. Swindling money can be both a criminal and civil offense. Your victim can civilly sue and state/government can press criminal charges.

Bitcoin Investment Vehicles Beware – The SEC is Watching

http://bakerlaw.com/alerts/bitcoin-investment-vehicles-beware-the-sec-is-watching

WTF

bitcoins are not government property. why is voorhees even playing into their hands. doesn't he realise that its a civil matter not a criminal matter. thus he can just decline any contract with such corporation.

as for shavers. that is theft. which is criminal. and he should be in court and imprisoned for stealing other peoples 'property'

governments can still press felony charges for crimes. That's not limited to just their government issued money. The fact it is BTC is irrelevant. They don't have to own the financial instrument thats used in order to press charges...... If hacked into a server and stole say, 7 million EURO thats still a criminal offense (and a civil as well).

899  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC or LTC will replace Paypal some day? on: June 10, 2014, 03:24:52 PM
Western Union is pretty much on its way out.

yup, not surprising. Theres literally no reason to ever use them due to better alternatives (like bitcoin). The fees are so high its only good for extreme need of sending cash right away if you cant get your hands on bitcoins.
900  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can I do mining with a normal PC? on: May 16, 2014, 03:44:16 PM
How to Start Mining cryptocoins on computer?
It is really easy now.
First, decide what you should mine.
Visit this site http://dustcoin.com/mining to check what is more profitable now.
Important scrypt (like litecoins) is 1000 more complex than SHA-256 (like Bitcoin) – be careful
Currencies change very quickly – check it from time to time
Compare speed of different hardware:
Here you can find the info about speed for mining scrypt coins (like litecoins ) https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison
And from https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison find info for mining SHA-256 like Bitcoin

After you compared and chose coins and hardware,
Download initial software for your coins. It include wallet, and you can create yours then.
Find and select the pool, where you will mine.
NOTE! Mining on your own affordable only, if you have really heavy hardware, if not then it is better to connect existing pool. List for litecoins pools - https://litecoin.info/Mining_pool_comparison

Register  your own id on selected pool
Create worker! (After your ID you could create lots of workers, normally one worker for each PC, so you need at least one)

Select software for mining.
There are lots of different software depending on coin,  hardware,  pools, operating systems and etc.
I recommend GUI Miner script http://sourceforge.net/projects/guiminerscript/ as it for Windows based on cgminer, cudaminer and reaper
Already included setting for popular litecoin pools, has settings for AMD Radeon videocards

What to do with coins?
Buy goods or exchange them into money

Go to https://www.cryptsy.com for exchanging from different coins to Bitcoins or Litecoins, then go to Mr. Gox or btc-e to exchange them into real money.
Have a nice BTC

Nice Welcoming and meaningful Guide for him...Thanks

except it doesnt tell him the most important part...that he will be wasting money in power......
