881  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OMG! What has Satoshi created? He has opened Pandora's box on: March 24, 2013, 05:36:23 PM
Bitcoin is backed by it's unique properties of utility. Instant transfers, anonymity, low fees, uncensorability, controlled inflation, integration in today's cyber world. It is like gold. Gold also have unique properties that are utilitarian by themselves like corrosion resistance, conductivity, reflectivity. Gold would not be valuable by scarcity alone without other awesome properties as a material. There is not much value in dinosaur poo although it is also rare like gold.

Why would anyone sell Bitcoins today?
To pay the upstream supplier for drugs. And again - sell drugs on Silk Road, sell bitcoins for cash, repeat cycle.
883  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Expert Network - worldwide on: March 24, 2013, 05:27:19 PM
May I qualify as an expert? Been in Bitcoin since early 2011, understand how Bitcoin works, introduced and consulted few people into bitcoins in real life.
884  Other / Off-topic / Re: I measured the density of my silver/gold coins... on: March 24, 2013, 05:18:04 PM

Um, scales in labs 15 years ago could measure the weight of fingerprints.
In ordinary chemistry labs - not true. Mechanical scales for 1/10 of gram with some error.

The society will not change for better. It will only become more idiotic and oppressive until some external force comes with new good old national-socialist ideology and military might and sweeps away the capitalistic west. The most fundamental problems in today's world are caused by western powers, and now they are even more actively turning against their own citizens.

Nukes are not more dangerous than artillery when used properly. USA alone tested about 1000 nukes and everyone is alive, in real war there would be far less nukes used. I hope such hardcore actions would not be necessary but who knows. No one except Iran and North Korea speak openly against zionism and USA. And I'm really bored and tired of living in hopeless times without slightest chance of society changing for better. If I could join some military force that fights against western powers I will do it right away but there are no such forces. Either they are on standby without real plans for action or are organized in old way and not prepared for asymmetric warfare.
886  Other / Off-topic / Re: I measured the density of my silver/gold coins... on: March 24, 2013, 05:03:36 PM
Most likely the difference in calculations are caused by impurity or different density of water due to temperature conditions. The error of +/- 2% might be caused by other factors and measurement tolerances. The scale is not laboratory grade but for most purposes even the cheapest 8$ scales are extremely accurate compared to what was available in labs 15 years ago.

I'm sorry to hear about Your situation. It is very wrong that such absurd situation can occur. House owned by one person but land by another, like house is something that can be moved to different location like car. Place to live must be a human right that cannot be taken away. We probably need another civil war and WW3 to change the system of society for better.

I also here asked help in form of 200 USD to purchase replacement computer. I will pay the money back as soon as I resume working. What ideas You have right now?
888  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: We need a phone payment system on: March 24, 2013, 02:51:46 PM
To do this in secure and Bitcoin way, the person needs to send exact amount of coins to newly generated address. No need to wait for confirmations. Then call the phone, dictate private key using NATO phonetic alphabet http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NATO_phonetic_alphabet and the other party can reclaim the coins with that address and send to safer address under recipient control.

How can you send BTC over the phone?
Or do it more geeky way. Dig out 56k dial-up modem and send coins using Satoshi client. But I think it wont work now because as I remember I could only get about 1.1kb/s speed using 56k modem. Cannot test it right now because I don't have wired phone line anymore.

890  Other / Off-topic / Re: This is now officially my favorite conspiracy theory :-) on: March 23, 2013, 05:34:55 PM
Some conspiracy theories are not only theories. This is well known fact that conspiracies existed since dawn of civilization to struggle for wealth and power. But some of them are plain retarded like chemtrails.
891  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Satoshi returns on: March 23, 2013, 05:06:53 PM
I hope if Satoshi returns he don't screw something up. Like making hard forks or rule changes. Under normal circumstances these changes will be rejected by most people, but if Satoshi proposes them they might succeed. Probably this is why he never revealed his identity and decided to abandon Satoshi persona. So he cannot be forced to do things against his will to damage Bitcoin or someone trying to give him more attention than he wants. It is very likely he is still here under nick of theymos or Luke-Jr.

There is no proof that non-existence exists.
893  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hard fork, which road will you take? (poll) on: March 23, 2013, 02:10:28 PM
I'm not against rising the limit for my own profit. I don't gain from it in any way. I'm against it because of 1. the transitional period is too short and 2. the network is still very small compared to future use potential and some people (not me) already encounter blockchain size problems.

Many probably don't know that early Bitcoin versions had artificial tx limits to prevent early blockchain spam. And how many of transactions today can be considered "spam"? I know some people (not me) consider Satoshi Dick a spam and attack on Bitcoin.

If the problem is tx volume in 10 min average not fitting in current block size limit, then raise the block limit. Give enough time for upgrade, like http://bitcoin.org/feb20 did. 1.5 years to not force users to run new and potentially bad software version. If problem is blockchain size, implement ultraprune.
894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hard fork, which road will you take? (poll) on: March 23, 2013, 01:45:28 PM
If hard fork is required it must be done in X years with preparation. For now it is unnecessary move IMHO
895  Other / Off-topic / Re: The government is listening on: March 23, 2013, 01:21:21 PM
This thread is just like tinted water thread. But this time Dank is fcking right! I don't get the point when the government observers turned from CIA to spirits. As we all know CIA is run by jews and americans, and they don't have a soul like normal human beings.
don't the laws of nature, mathematics and cryptography also apply for the higher planes?  Huh
No, they don't. With few drops of LSD the private keys of richest Bitcoin addresses can be revealed in whirl of color or spoken aloud by divine entity.

897  Other / Off-topic / Re: Cash withdrawal limits and reduced hours coming to US banks within 60 days. on: March 23, 2013, 11:25:37 AM
Bitcoin also have 21 million BTC withdrawal limit. But it operates 24/7/365

The centrally managed cashless society will be forced upon in small steps, this is one of them.

And Bitcoins are like cash and even better.

Australia also can rubber dildo before imprisonment. Two factor authentication or hidden volumes can help in some cases, but not always. The real problem is that governments are willing to go to do such things to just take a look at your data.
