I think that is related to what he wrote on reddit. I'll quote: Google actually has a very good system in place for fraud detection. It turns out that my third customer was trying to use his girlfriend's credit card to purchase coins (he assures me it was with her permission), and the payment was rejected. Very unexpected and happy surprise on my end for sure.
Since I am using that system (it's opt in) in theory if a chargeback does occur, google says that it will take the hit rather than me. The program only really covers physical items that are being shipped, but anyone can subscribe to the notifications, and I am quite impressed so far.

BUT, that assumes that the password hacker knows that he is using an md5 hash for his password. So few people would actually store their passwords in such a manner that it would not be worth it for a generic brute-force program to attempt to break into a passwords list by using a prehashed list like that. The only way it would be insecure is if it was a targeted attack against a known subject who was known to be using such a password storage method. Like the OP.
Basically, it's very secure (IMO), as long as you don't announce to the world that you're using it.
You are right, but I wouldn't use this with simple english words. Adding md5 of dictionary words to a wordlist is easy and it doesn't take that long to test. It is a nice method, but use a fairly good password with it. Anyway, I propose an improvement because some stupid websites still require that you use a password with upper letters, lower letters, numbers and signs regardless of how long your password is: $ echo -n c00l_password! | md5sum | awk '{printf $1}' | base64
NWY0ZWVmMzRmZTM3YmU5MDlhNmRiNzc1NWFkMzk2NDA=
- Using base64 after md5 guarantees the = sign at the end
- It is a little longer and it is more unlikely that it will be at included in any wordlist
- md5sum outputs '-' so I have to use that ugly awk

Well you are right that I took much of my inspiration for the "front page" from flattr. In-fact you are the first one to point that out, good eyes on you. The reason you ask? well I'm not a designed, I am a back-end developer and Business man, and therefore I do my best when it comes to designing my web services. This means I most take my inspiration from somewhere and use this "inspiration" to build amazing unique custom solutions. I did do all the graphic work myself having this "inspiration" in mind.

Bitcoins and micro payments are often mentioned together. I noticed the similarities because I visited Flattr a few days before. It's nothing personal. I understand you are not a designer. I am a back-end developer myself and I would have to go though a lot of trouble if I wanted to create a good looking website alone I will take a closer look at walletbit. |

What is your bitcoin address? You use blockexplorer to check where the money went. It can take a while to confirm the transaction.
