2  Economy / Scam Accusations / 14 BTC bounty - gonefishing510 investigation on: March 07, 2014, 05:50:09 PM
Hi,

As many of you know, jakedeez and I were scammed by the user gonefishing510, also known as "Andy" (which we already know it is a fake name). We sold him Casascius coins and he never sent the payment. We hired a private eye to gather more information about this guy, but since Andy and his girlfriend don't hold regular jobs it is hard for us to understand who these people are and how they make a living. Whatever their source of income is, it is probably illegal.

So we decided that we will do some surveillance over the course of three or four days in order to learn more about their lives. After we gather all the information, we plan to visit him personally informing that we will deliver it to the police and follow with a lawsuit unless he returns what he owes us.

Unfortunately, this investigation has costs and I would like to ask the community if anyone is willing to help us with them. We are asking for 4 BTC to cover investigation costs. If we recover the stolen coins, we'll return 14BTC to the people who helped us, split proportionally. FYI the total amount he owns me is 35BTC.

This is the original topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=404359.0

This is the address to contribute: 1A98E51MdUSBLma3MumcGPZze9ZUQev4oL
If you do want to help, post a reply here or send me a PM. If we don't get anywhere near 4btc I will probably return everything to everyone and cancel the investigation, but we'll see...

Feel free to ask any questions. Thanks for reading.

https://www.facebook.com/kimbeeyannoe Sent her a message explaining what "Andy" has done and that she is about to be named as an accessory to his scam. Asked if she could help us out to avoid including her in the charges.

Her facebook page has been taken down.  I'm now thinking that Andy may just be Kim...

It's back online
5  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: gonefishing510 - I sent him a casasicus coin - he got it --- no anwer on: January 11, 2014, 06:19:00 PM

We continue to talk for about 2-3 minutes. To sum up what he said, he basically doesn't want to do any more trades on this forum anymore because he thinks everyone is a scammer. I ask about "nmat" and he said that he never got anything from him after the first trade.

That doesn't make any sense. I have plenty of evidence that I owned the coins and that they were delivered to his door. I also have a long list of traded messages with him regarding this trade.

Why would a 2011 have to send first to a guy who just registered a few weeks ago?

Because I'm stupid. Well, he did have a few ratings and a few people who met with him locally, and I didn't have more buyers. I trust people too much =\

OK, now I am worried too. Since I also rated him, here's my story:

I had the following casascius coins that he wanted to buy and I wanted to sell: 5BTC, 25BTC and two 1BTC. He insisted that I should go first and we decided that I would send the 5BTC first to gain some trust. That went perfectly fine, I sent the coin and received the payment as soon as he received it. Then I insisted that he should pay me at least half the money upfront for the other coins, but he didn't want to. We traded a bunch of PM's and then I agreed to send him the coins first. According to USPS, he received them last friday, but he hadn't payed yet because he is waiting for 120BTC that he bought on coinbase. Yesterday morning he told me that the transfer from coinbase would clear during the day. Haven't heard from him since.
8  Economy / Goods / [WTS] Rare 2011 Casascius coin - loaded 25 BTC w/ error on: December 05, 2013, 01:43:53 AM
I am selling a loaded Casascius coin with 25BTC from 2011. This is a Series 1 coin and it has the hologram error in the back (CASACIUS instead of CASASCIUS).
Here are some photos (sorry for the quality): http://imgur.com/a/XhJ8r#0

The coin is in great condition, but the protective case has a small rip on the right side. I'll ship it to anywhere in the world for free (I live in Europe, if it matters). The base price for the sale is 32BTC.

Anyone else had their miner go offline? How long til you got it back online, and how? I'm hoping SOMETHING happens before Sweden wakes up to a new day tomorrow..

Offline here too. It has been like this for a few hours now.

Why do I get signature fails when I try to put in Namecoin address for merged mining?

Because your signature is wrong? Check if there aren't any whitespaces at the beginning or at the end of your address. Sometimes copy/paste doesn't work that well

Update from a hosting customer:

I just received a 5BTC payment in my configured BTC address. I didn't receive a mail with hosting details and the miner is not online yet (at least I can't see it in my preconfigured pool).
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 02, 2013, 06:16:02 PM
Has anyone received hosting confirmation or status update?

Only this:

I packaged more than one Saturn for sure, and yes it's respect of queue order. Also, no rest for the wicked. A load of hosting should be coming online tonight. Which means I get to leave here, and get at least somewhat closer to my clothing that' been holidaying the last few days. At least I'll have a choice of clean stuff to wear...at somepoint. Sad

Day 1 order but no "In Progress" indicator. Could it have something to do with the fact that mine is hosted there?

@Bitcoinorama Any news for hosted customers? I haven't received any information about the management portal.
19  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Best options for today? on: September 21, 2013, 12:15:22 PM
the only really profitable thing to do at this point is to buy BTC and sit on it

at least put like 30 percent of your money into buying and holding btc

1. Buy bitcoins
2. Hold
3. Huh?
4. Profit

Is there some kind of universal law that says: "bitcoin will be worth more than $140"? I don't get this kind of advice. Maybe I have been here for too long. I saw the price fall 50% in one day many many times now. I also saw bitcoin lose more than 10 times its value in just a few months. Putting 1/3 of your money into bitcoin and sitting on it means that you might lose half of that tomorrow. You can also double it, I have also seen that. Anyway, this is speculation. It isn't a perfectly safe and lucrative investment.
