881  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Alarming bad publicity to bitcoins in social media on: July 23, 2016, 11:45:39 AM
Media gets no views for spreading good news about bitcoin. If they were to start explaining the advantages of bitcoins in the newspaper, not a lot of people would read it. But the moment the newspaper talks about a drug bust involving bitcoin or something similar, then a lot of people get interested in reading up about it. So they just target viewers with news that interests them, and unfortunately its the bad news which does.
882  Local / India / Re: [Discussion] Ways to earn bitcoin for undergraduates and people with free time on: July 23, 2016, 11:39:31 AM
Definitely stay away from gambling of any form. It might be attractive right now, but will definitely affect your life in a bad way in later stages if you end up being addicted to it. Sig campaigns or any other freelance work to earn bitcoins should be a good choice.
883  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Deribit.com: BTC Options and Futures Exchange launched on: July 23, 2016, 09:20:10 AM
Just came across this site yesterday. So how do the options usually work? Right now I see options listed on the site. Who is selling them ? Is it other traders or is the site selling those options ?
Normally other traders, although currently I think they are quoted by "the site". Doesn't really matter for you. If you want, you can place an order in the orderbook. Or you can trade with an order that's currently in the orderbook.
The reason I asked is because it allowed me to buy infinitely many options, which other traders usually don't do. And since it is a new site, I was wondering how is that possible.
884  Economy / Gambling / Re: Free 0.05BTC SatoshiGames.io - Bitcoin Casino & Poker Room on: July 23, 2016, 08:32:18 AM
Where is the free 05 btc? to be honest I couldn't read all the way down in first post, if you may let us know about that free amount or is it demo and not real? Huh

You are required to register an account and then post here your username on the site. Its not free money. You are required to roll over that amount before you can withdraw anything. People in this thread have already confirmed receiving it.
885  Economy / Gambling / Re: Cloudbet.com - bitcoin sportsbook and casino | WORLDWIDE live dealer casino on: July 23, 2016, 08:31:06 AM
I suppose thats true then. A lot of people also have superstitions about luck too and can go into a very bad temper if something like this was to happen when they had bet huge money on it. I am actually  surprised she stopped the ball for any reason, since they are sort of taught to not do this, and she could have just paused further betting after the outcome of this spin had come out.
Exactly and that is the certain casino's (in this case the central america one that I believe is in Costa rica from what is inteacted on various social media sites) fault that should be held accountable for this.

I would suggest boycotting the whole cloudbet site as they do not abide by the accredited casino rules of play(probably fairness or otherwise) until they fixed their dealers to know these basic rules.
What was appauling was she just laughed when players asked what is to be done about this. Like it was a joke to her or she was just too ignorant to know what the players have at stake when theying are play at sites like this.

Cloudbet doesn't own those casinos but uses their services and hosts those live rooms on their site. They are not at fault directly, and since now they have been giving more options to the users by giving us more rooms, its only a good step for the players.

Of course that is true. It is from other companies that they pay to use these live-centers for their work. Like contractors and do not directly work for cloudbet. But if they are doing these deviant acts toward the players then it is cloudbet to investigate and drop them as a service provider. That is what they are to uphold to keep their integrity and thus their gambling license. Which in a major case like this could be in jeopardy when it is reported because it was viewed by all who was playing and it is indeed recorded.

Yes, but zend was recommending boycotting the whole site. I would first wait for Cloudbet to look into this, or drop that casino as a provider and also provide some form of refund or payout to the users who didn't have their bets complete on that rool.

888  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buying Options for bitcoin on: July 22, 2016, 08:51:14 PM
Either idsoption or secondtraer are good choices since they offer alternatives besides the price of Bitcoin. There are other sites available but they often require verification similar to forex brokers which may put some people off.
Never heard of idsoption and as for secondstrade check my previous post.
Giving your information to the forex brokers is no risk. Options can amount to large amounts of money, and I would rather have it done through a legal company then a random bitcoin exchange which isn't licensed.

890  Local / India / Re: Question regarding cash deals on: July 22, 2016, 08:36:08 PM
...

It wasn't exactly at a discount, just someone in the same city and a nearby place to me. But I have turned him down and have told him to use localbitcoins or go with giving cash first since I have decent trust.
In your case, would an escrow have helped? On the other hand, getting cash for 5 BTC shouts black money. Where you able to find if he did trade elsewhere?
How do you think an escrow deal would work with a cash deal ? I could have escrowed the amount to lbtc before, and then accept cash, but I would have had to release the amount right there, and the risk is still post transaction.

Is there an ANN thread for this website ? I was looking for a site to buy options recently, and saw this today. But can't seem to find any ANN thread for this.

Out of curiosity being a LBTC trader. How exactly did he manage to scam you ? Weren't you protected by the escrow system that localbitcoins tends to offer to buyers and sellers ?
893  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Alcohol consumption as a cause of cancer on: July 22, 2016, 08:03:38 PM
I think the study isn't done well on a relative level.  Came across this article which discusses the relative risks of alcohol. http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/add.13477/full . The study sort of is a little more scary than what the truth is.
894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: KickAss owner was using Coinbase as his bitcoin wallet!!!!! on: July 22, 2016, 07:59:36 PM
He probably was a newbie when it came to bitcoin. Anyways he made a lot of stupid mistakes and could have been one. Even Ross Ulbricht made  a mistake like this when he used him email to as a question on stack exchange, which sort of was what gave him up.
895  Local / India / Re: Indians and Bitcoin on: July 22, 2016, 06:06:31 PM
Definitely one use could be to tackle corruption and black money. Its hard to make laws relating to that strict in our country and I read somwhere today about a cashless country and how it will benefit India. So Bitcoin would definitely have been perfect for that.

897  Economy / Gambling / Re: SwCpoker.eu | No Banking, Only Bitcoin | Bitcoin Poker 2.0 LIVE NOW! on: July 22, 2016, 03:09:09 PM
So no Android play as you go app yet ? How long has it been ? and why not !
Nope, the site hasn't had any upgrades after the new version of the software came out. Only the PC client for windows is available right now.

So this site got revitalized? Figured Betcoin kinda secured a monopoly on BTC poker. Maybe nitrogen could compete but no one plays the guarentees, just novice players jamming pre flop in the freerolls  Cry

It's really a shame, blockchain tech is the best thing the online poker industry could ever hope for yet rooms still lack big volume!!

On the other hand I think that the BTC sports betting industry is booming!

Yeah, I think so too.  But the thing is with online poker, the traffic is going down on all sites across the board.  It's not just BTC poker.  The poker boom is gone and I don't think it will come back anytime soon.  I think most people thought of it as something like a fad and jumped on the Chris Moneymaker bandwagon trying to follow his footsteps.

It's also summer, wsop ended days ago and aside from 3 states most of america has forgotten about online poker.

That's all changing though, slowly but surely.

Usually once the WSOP streams on live television, the traffic on poker sites usually goes up. I would expect the same for bitcoin poker sites as well.
898  Economy / Gambling / Re: Cloudbet.com - bitcoin sportsbook and casino | WORLDWIDE live dealer casino on: July 22, 2016, 03:06:08 PM
This morning I was betting on the roulette table on Cloudbet. The dealer picked up the ball before it was able to land on a number. That is in violation of the gambling rules of casinos.
In the middle of play a dealer can not just pick up the ball for what ever reason.
Some players complained and was told to contact live support.
They probably gave them back their bet to keep them quiet and not to inform a gambling assoiciation on them to get their license revoked for conducting malpractices in their casino.
The pitboss, a red curly haired older woman, was the one that came to shake off this illegal practice. She should get fired for not imposing the dealer when she called this pitboss over when she questioned what she did.
This was at the Central America live casino on their site.

Was there a reason as to why she did this ? The game would still have been random so unless she was trying to bring a bad name to the casino room,I can't see why she would do this.

That was a very good tip. I mistakenly placed my wager on both teams not to score till full time as I didn't see an option for half time and the game ended at 0-0.Watching the other 2 tennis games
900  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: PumpTeam.Net - Elite Group of Pumpers on: July 22, 2016, 10:32:10 AM
Kind of scam groups where only a few end up profiting who have prior knowledge or the user running the pump group. I have been part of similar groups before and all they did was buy the coin about weeks in advance, and then through the pump group got the price to go up and then sold all their holdings for massive profits. Definitely not recommended to join such groups.
