8821  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-12-06] Token Summit Surprise: OpenBazaar to Launch Layer-Two Coin on: December 06, 2017, 02:00:59 AM
If anyone of you have been following Brian Hoffman and Open Bazaar, you would have never thought that he would start issuing a token. An Ethereum token of all things.

Is this going to be an ICO, an airdrop or something else?

In any case, I do not find it good or bad, but it is very unexpected coming from one such as Brian.

"Over the last six months, things have changed a lot, I don't think it makes any sense for us to be bitcoin only."

That's according to Brian Hoffman, CEO of OB1, the development company behind the decentralized e-commerce protocol OpenBazaar, who announced today the project will seek to incorporate a token into its existing product offering sometime in 2018.

Announced at Token Summit II in San Francisco, the news was revealed onstage by Hoffman, who indicated that it represents a response to ongoing congestion on the bitcoin network that he said has made it less useful for payments.

Still in its early stages, the white paper for the OpenBazaar Token (OBT) will be released in Q12018, with the goal of soliciting feedback from the community before any sale, Hoffman said.

8822  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 100K$ to invest! What would you do? on: December 06, 2017, 12:56:11 AM
Gold maybe.. sure as hell not shitcoins.

EDIT:
Oh and Willy Woo is a scammy corrupt immoral douche i guarantee it.
Most of you doing this have no sense of integrity.
Morality or ideology has no interest to you ..nor does crypto (or it's future or usage)
You all will line up to squat down and take a fat shit all over it.. as long as you make money in the process.
Sound to me like he helped contribute to the 2008 world wide recession as will as shitcoining for ROI's.
Should i be jealous of idiots robbing old ladies for pensions too ?

Crypto makes me sick .

What do you mean by that, and how can you criticize something that has been going on for thousands of years? Yes, I am talking about trading and the markets. If no one traded, there would be no cryptocoin economy.

If you did not bother to look, a trading market is the backbone of any economy.
8823  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Story of Bob Surplus on: December 05, 2017, 04:45:32 AM
Bitcoin is an open source project. The people who decide to use it for their needs should know that they cannot sue anyone. If you find a flaw in the software, you fix it and publish it or make the issue known.

In any case, you said that you have seen better governance systems. Can you give us examples of what they are?

How I wish I can say the same about Ripple. Permissioned systems are not good for the cryptospace, and I reckon your transactions can be censored in there.

Open source projects can be controlled. Red Hat Enterprise Linux is a perfect example of how it can be done right. Again, look to Linux projects for good governance. The problem really isn’t that bitcoin has bad governance it’s that it has no governance.  Everyone is just running their own program. A recent example, the Chinese mining collective stopped any fork that could have changed the blocksize.

The censorship issue is a non-issue for me because I’m not a criminal. I want drug trafficking to be stopped, terrorists to be caught, and human trafficking to be eliminated. If I can’t have perfect anonymity and need to suffer some censoring to keep my kids off drugs or out of the hands of Somali slave traders - so be it.

From your viewpoint, why is there a need for blockchains, cryptocoins and decentralization then? Why not use the systems in place today and upgrade that with a digital currency issued by the banks or by the government?

I also reckon Visa and other credit card companies are already doing a good job in providing its users with cost effective and cashless payments.
8824  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [UFC 218: Aldo vs Holloway 2] The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: December 05, 2017, 03:58:24 AM
@nydiacaskey01. I disagree. It was not Max's better game plan that gave him the win, but Jose Aldo's declining performance and his abuse of using performance enhancing substances in the past.

Most Brazilian MMA fighters are known to use it, from Royce Gracie to Anderson Silva to Cris Cyborg. Maybe all of them hehe.
8825  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: December 05, 2017, 03:07:01 AM
Is Aeon under attack? Check the output as seen from my node https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=641696.msg25753852#msg25753852

The price is also going down and I do reckon the correction started when the red outputs started appearing. Should it be something we should have concern about?
8826  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CryptoKitties - Ethereum's first blockchain game on: December 05, 2017, 02:15:07 AM
I have not tried it yet but nice game and I hope it grows into a global phenomenon like Pokemon Go. I also reckon this will make Ethereum known all over the world.

In any case, where do they sell the kitties? I heard that over $1 million have already been traded since its release.

8827  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON [2017-10-07: update to 0.9.14.0] on: December 05, 2017, 12:57:12 AM
@smooth. Is this a blockchain reorg, and is this something we should have concern about? I see this repeating over and over for 3 days already.

Also, the last time I saw this happen was before the emergency update to 0.9.13.0 of which I am still running.

Now I see this.

8828  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 100K$ to invest! What would you do? on: December 04, 2017, 04:41:41 AM
@mhgxd. I will share this article about Willy Woo with you and let you decide what you need to do. But one advice I can give you is to keep investing your profits in good and budding altcoins.

Also, your $100,000, x100 or x1000 would be your retirement.

Willy Woo sounds like a high stakes altcoin gambler.

He's often looking for insane 100x to even 1,000x gains, and he's willing to stomach the kind of volatility that could wipe out three-quarters of his portfolio's value over a couple of weeks.

And while everyday investors might be bewildered by those concepts, it's not too surprising for Woo, given his background.

While now best known for his innovative philosophies on cryptocurrency, Woo got his start in the trading world buying derivatives during the run-up to the 2008 financial crisis — he started shorting bank stocks right before the banks collapsed. And that experience gave Woo a pretty solid understanding of how to trade markets when they're at their most volatile.

Plus, with a background coding as a teenager, it's no wonder Woo was drawn to cryptocurrency.

It was right around the time bitcoin hit the $1 billion mark that Woo got interested in crypto, shortly after moving to Bali, where, as he describes it, he "went down the rabbit hole."

While his first foray – much like other investors just getting in – was bitcoin, he's since changed his tune, deciding the real action is in altcoins (alternative cryptocurrencies).

"My particular portfolio is very, very high gain, high risk. It's highly volatile," said Woo.

8829  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Recommend a good open source coin to study for educational purposes. on: December 04, 2017, 03:50:03 AM
@illiki23. Also try getting in contact with smooth. He is one of the best developers in the cryptospace and a lead developer of Monero and Aeon.

If there was a person who could answer all your questions about cryptcoin and blockchain development, he is your man.
8830  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Game of Thrones - Who will rule? Odds and betting discussion [Odds updated!] on: December 04, 2017, 03:02:59 AM
This article very much coincides with the latest leak that I posted. It ended with Jon Snow becoming king as the sportsbooks correctly having Jon as the favorite. But I will leave it for you to read and analyze below.

In any case one leak says Tyrion will rule on behalf of Jon and Daenerys', both dead, child and the other says Jon will rule.

photos of a serious expansion to the Winterfell set in Moneyglass, Northern Ireland. Specifically, it’s grown to include the ramparts and towers which in the past have been mostly CGI. Additionally, there’s more snow – both on the castle and the surrounding fields – as well as what WotW are suspecting is either a moat or trench built around the castle. This along with a trebuchet seems to suggest Winterfell is preparing for a siege, most likely from the Night King and his army who we know are now on the march south, having busted through The Wall in the season 7 finale.

The other set currently under construction is at Titanic Studios in Belfast and it’s already the largest set the series has ever built. We first reported on it when construction began, with the then rumors suggesting it was a new King’s Landing location. That is now being confirmed by WotW‘s latest report, with new details revealing it to be a reconstruction of the city, at least a few blocks worth of streets and buildings. In the past, Game of Thrones filmed in cities like Dubrovnik, Croatia for the Westerosi capital setting, so for the series to now, in its final season, need to physically recreate King’s Landing on a backlot in Belfast can only mean one thing – they’re going to burn it down.

According to WotW‘s sources, the set is scheduled to be destroyed as part of a huge battle sequence, specifically citing dragon fire as the cause of the destruction. This leaves two very obvious possibilities – either Daenerys comes to town with Drogon and/or Rhaegel and burns at least a section of the city, as she has once threatened to do, or the Night King rides Viserion all the way there and lights the place up. Considering that this major event (along with whatever Winterfell is preparing for) must happen in the span of six episodes, it really could be either scenario that happens.

8831  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-12-04] Is Bitcoin Diamond a Better Bitcoin? on: December 04, 2017, 01:39:53 AM
This is a good instance of an article that might be paid for by the team of the cryptocoin being advertised. We all know that all of the forks of bitcoin will either be done by scammers to find a way to make a quick buck, or it is politically motivated.

In any case, scamming by forking bitcoin is easier to do than organizing an ICO.

Whether or not Bitcoin Diamond is a better Bitcoin, depends on who you ask. In recent days, there have been hard forks that have led to the emergence of Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold and now Bitcoin Diamond. The idea behind a hard fork is that a new chain emerges, and hopefully a better one. The stated and ultimate aim of Bitcoin Diamond is to become “the better coin,” which does not suffer from a lack of privacy protection, slow transaction confirmations or a high threshold for new members. This will allow them to provide better solutions to financial companies worldwide.

The total supply of Bitcoin Diamond would be 210 mln or 10 times more than that of Bitcoin. 170 mln of these coins would be on the market, while the rest would be reserved for the community in a ‘rewards pool’ for the purposes of tributes and mining. One of the criticisms that has been made about Bitcoin Diamond was that the teams behind the cryptocurrency have remained anonymous, but we should not forget that to date the founder of Bitcoin has remained an enigma as well. Anonymity should not come in the way of adoption and at the end of the day markets will reveal if Bitcoin Diamond offers features that they think are worth their while. For now, you can pick the Bitcoin that you like.

8832  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-12-02] Get a Forkful of Bitcoin This Christmas! on: December 04, 2017, 12:43:27 AM
That is starting to become very idiotic and retarded. Not only will it hurt the bitcoin market but it will also hurt the whole cryptospace because every altcoin's price is pegged on BTC.

But if this is an attack on bitcoin then I reckon the people behind them are not the usual scammers, but from people who have premeditated designs of trying to kill bitcoin.
8833  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: December 03, 2017, 02:35:20 AM
@sammy007. That is good hehe. The market is nice enough to give us more time to keep buying on prices under $5.00. If it goes beyond that and over $10.00, I would consider it as the train is leaving stage. Then once it reaches $30.00, that would be my we have arrived stage.

8835  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Sumokoin - The litecoin of Monero on: December 02, 2017, 01:19:48 AM
@Wynne_. Yes I agree. Everyone has to start somewhere to prove themselves and start building a resume in the cryptospace. But starting it by cloning Monero and changing the protocol to have a premine is not a good way to start. What if they are really scammers?

That was discussed a billion times. Read the ANN.... Etherium had a premine, BTC had one... Sumo is the most legit coin I have ever seen.

It makes me mad to even see this question.... The funds are locked in the chain and can't be released...

Locked does not change the truth that it has a premine of 10%. If the developers do not want to touch the premined coins then why have the premine in the first place?

This brings up more questions. What will happen once the coins are unlocked on 2020? Who controls the wallets that hold the coins? Will the developers reveal their identities by 2020?

8837  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Story of Bob Surplus on: December 01, 2017, 06:49:31 AM
@QuestionAuthority. That is your opinion. But what do you reckon the bitcoin developers and the community do to make the system of governance better, and how do you expect them to achieve it?

In any case, if you really reckon that bitcoin is hopeless, then what cryptocoin would you suggest as a better alternative?
8838  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-30] Turkish religious figures: Bitcoin does not suit Islam on: December 01, 2017, 01:57:22 AM
They will throw everything at it including the kitchen sink hehe. On reading that news, I now truly reckon that bitcoin has finally arrived and reached the mainstream.

Also, who would have imagined a religious organization would make a comment against bitcoin 3 years ago?

@nydiacaskey01. Jose Aldo can if he tries to use all his tools like the leg kicks, his powerful takedowns and also if he uses his head movement more. We did not see any of that in the first fight, and I hope he learned from his mistakes and uses them again.
8840  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC FN 122: Bisping vs Gastelum Info and Prediction Thread on: November 30, 2017, 06:05:10 AM
@Hydrogen. I rewatched Max Holloway versus Jose Aldo 1, and I have to say that Jose has a good chance to win the rematch as he was doing okay in the first 2 rounds. He was not dominated.

But unfortunately Jose got tired by the 3rd round. I reckon it is something that Jose's training camp have fixed.
