8901  Economy / Economics / Re: BBC special on now; Heyek, FED, Libetry Dollas on: December 02, 2012, 11:28:10 AM
I think I've seen that before, they don't mention Bitcoin, it wasn't too bad though considering it was the BBC, is it the masters of money?
8902  Economy / Trading Discussion / Legitimately paying for Bitcoins seems like a complete chore on: December 02, 2012, 10:44:44 AM
Be warned rant incoming:

I've been looking into how one would get Bitcoins for real money because I wanted a small amount to play with and grow like 5 or so and it seems to me like it's an utter chore to pay for them and would actually be easier to just patiently mine them instead since I only want a small amount anyway. It seems to bring things in perspective though on why Bitcoin was made in the first place, you want to use your own money to pay someone? Fees... Want to buy something online? You have to provide all your details along with your bloody card which the opposite party can do anything they like with, chances are you'll be charged money for that as well. Then there's the so called payment processors who deal in conventional money I can understand security but why the fuck must a company I know nothing about know everything about me and get scanned details of ID cards and even my passport which they could easily steal to use for identity fraud? Even paypal aren't that rabid with their checks which is surprising.

All this datafarming just so people can know you transferred a few measly pounds to buy some bitcoin? I think once I get my fans connected up and working I will just mine what I need since it seems like a cheaper option than paying for it in the traditional fashion. See, this is why I think that GPU mining is still going to continue because there are people like me who won't be in it for profit but will just want to transfer their wealth into something that is much easier to move, use and doesn't charge a bloody fortune. I know there are people here who will say, well why not do a bank transfer? To be honest, that seems like an utter chore as well, I guess I've been spoiled by the idea of Bitcoin because all you need to do to use it is just type in an address and everything just works painlessly.

Grats Mufa, that's the first .gif in years that I've actually found funny and not annoying Tongue

YES! SPACESHIPS! FINALLY! Just need to solve the problem of getting it into deep space now.
8905  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stable Bitcoin Values = Good For Bitcoin. Value Increases / Decreases = bad on: December 02, 2012, 08:10:37 AM
It's actually quite impressive seeing it consistently being worth £7 - £8 despite the jumps because this seems to be what it falls down to usually, I'm considering buying a couple of bitcoins to play with and see if I can't grow them at all, I want to see the power of deflationary currencies and compound interest at work Tongue
8906  Other / Off-topic / Re: Strange unban request on: December 02, 2012, 08:07:09 AM
Sounds like a spammer to me, I hate spammers, you get them a lot more on youtube now where they try and send you videos randomly to get more hits and they do that annoying thing of feigning innocence when they're caught red handed by other people if you've ever seen the comments pages of these places.

Looks like they're evolving to make it seem like they're human beings who aren't just out to annoy everyone >_<

People who decide to make a public forum their battleground and ruin everyone else's fun will swiftly make their way onto my ignore list.
8908  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will my graphics card be safe at these temperatures? on: December 01, 2012, 11:16:46 AM
In that case I just need to get the connector for my fans and it should be fine then Cheesy thanks for the information sometimes I'm actually quite glad I'm so paranoid.
8909  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will my graphics card be safe at these temperatures? on: December 01, 2012, 10:38:42 AM
Thanks for that lightlord, I'll try it and see what happens, I just want to make sure my card doesn't melt though, that is all I'm worried about, is it fine at the temperatures I listed? I've been running it a little bit longer again and it's at 90 degrees now.
8910  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will my graphics card be safe at these temperatures? on: December 01, 2012, 10:31:05 AM
lol I'm not really mining for profit, just for fun, something to do whilst I work on my other stuff because otherwise my computer is just sitting idle, I'm actually going to be working for a living you see Tongue
8911  Other / Beginners & Help / Will my graphics card be safe at these temperatures? on: December 01, 2012, 09:58:14 AM
So I recently got a HD 6970 Lightning for an early Christmas present and thought I'd do some mining with it when I'm not really using the computer for anything and just listening to music etc. after having to buy a cable adapter for the power supply to connect to the graphics card properly I realised all this time I hadn't had my fans connected being the noob that I am to hardware generally, I found out that with the new graphics card I'd have to get a SATA to Molex connector but I was wondering if it was safe to mine without my tower fans on for now? I have two very big ones that work great when switched on but when they're off I get worried about the amount of heat coming from the graphics card I have no choice but to keep the fans off right now to keep the graphics card running because I don't have the connectors on my power supply to link it all up properly.

Is this normal? I got out CPUID Hardware monitor and it tells me now it's running at around 82 - 84 degrees, when I touch the graphics card it feels pretty hot so of course being paranoid I wonder if this is a good idea because I don't want to melt a graphics card that cost £200 when it was entirely avoidable.
8912  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why doTERRA and MLMs are Better than Bitcoins on: December 01, 2012, 09:03:25 AM
Have you guys ever tried googling about forex and stuff? You'll find these exact same types who have lost a bit of money and think the whole system is rigged against them despite there being thousands of other people who get along with it just fine. I do however think looking at Bitcoin that you'd be a fool to ditch everything and just do mining but its a very nice way to earn some cash if you can't find any work in your area, it's a bit like a part time job for your graphics card to do when you aren't gaming or using your computer for anything else.
8913  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: jgarzik goes berzerk in #bitcoin-dev, wtf? on: November 30, 2012, 01:25:04 PM
As far as I'm concerned if it's not spam, virus' or malware they're promoting no one should be banned for anything they say, to ban someone for anything else just makes you look like a cunt no matter how you try to word it. I do think that some of you Bitcoin guys are being a bit too aggressive in promoting the idea of Bitcoin though, don't go posting links etc. in places unless people ask for it.
8914  Economy / Economics / Re: US Gov't Phasing out the PENNY and NICKEL in 2013 on: November 30, 2012, 07:31:59 AM
LOL how did you find that? Oh well, I'm sure the government will do something else that will speed up the inevitable dollar crash, just need to wait and see what happens with the negotiations.
8915  Economy / Economics / Re: US Gov't Phasing out the PENNY and NICKEL in 2013 on: November 30, 2012, 06:22:46 AM
You can be assured with this happening the U.S dollar is going to collapse fast and hard, still can't say when but the time to wait has shortened considerably now, the federal reserve are getting rid of the last obstacles in the way of them printing as much as they want.

Yeah, even cheap coins like the dime and nickel cause them problems because they can't be mass produced easily enough for the speed they're looking for Cheesy as the article says it's much cheaper to just print lots of paper than mint coins.
8916  Economy / Economics / Re: Thorium power, how is it going in the US? on: November 30, 2012, 05:47:17 AM
Thorium is almost three times more abundant than uranium, approximately as common as lead.

That's actually a lot of thorium.

Fuck this, when I get money I'm getting a Thorium power company set up >_<
8917  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FBI: Bitcoin Is Domestic Terrorism, To Actively Infilitrate And Demolish Cryptoc on: November 30, 2012, 05:06:51 AM
The US cannot even keep drugs out of prisons and they are going to take out bitcoin?

I wouldn't say they've officially gone that route yet, this is just one of those silly articles that get posted up in order to make people jump to daft conclusions.
8918  Other / Off-topic / Re: $550 million Powerball drawing tonight... on: November 29, 2012, 03:40:29 PM
Don't forget to put some of it in gold Tongue good luck.
8919  Other / Meta / Re: Can we stop this sort of idiocy? on: November 29, 2012, 01:58:05 PM
Myrkul opposed to free speech? Surely the world must be about to end Tongue Just ask the mods to give them a "Drama Queen" tag Smiley

In my own forum If I ever get people like these I'm going to give them a "douchebag" tag with their own special corner of the forum that only they can post in, I will also put their offending posts in there too Tongue it's a great idea to do this than just ban people which only makes things worse really in my experience.
