I know Israel has done things to the Palestines that they have every right to be pissed off about but doesn't anyone else actually get a bit fed up with how the Hamas leader keeps calling for peace and then minutes later there are reports of missiles being fired into Israel? It's the political equivalent of the "Why are you hitting yourself?" gag, normally I wouldn't be too bothered about this kind of stupidity but they keep dragging civilians into it and don't seem to give a fuck which pisses me off.

If you want to kill each other for stupid reasons and you're determined to fine, but don't go dragging people who have nothing to do with it into your problems and be a selfish cunt about it.
8962  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Would it be possible to make a decentralised stock exchange? on: November 19, 2012, 04:53:24 PM
This kind of thing is precisely why I think we need some programmers and math experts to have a look Tongue I just think it would be a shame if Bitcoin investing was let down by shabby organisation because people didn't have any tools to do it properly.
8963  Bitcoin / Project Development / Would it be possible to make a decentralised stock exchange? on: November 19, 2012, 02:25:28 PM
Looking at the situation with the GLBSE got me thinking because while it was a great idea to kickstart the Bitcoin economy it had a major flaw in my mind and that it was centralised and easy to take down, would it be possible to make a decentralised stock exchange in a similar fashion to the way Bitcoin is set up where you use a client with some kind of P2P technology? I mean we have brokers who have set up that kind of software so why couldn't it be possible? The difficulty after that I think would be dealing with the long term problems like the valuing the shares and where to put the money.

I'm no programmer, that stuff is way over my head so I thought I'd make a thread to see what people's thoughts were on it.

Nothing will make me happier than seeing the end of the central banking system.

This has to be the biggest load of nonsense I've read so far.

lol this is awesome, maybe someone here should make a Bounty Hunting service for people who have been scammed through Bitcoin?
8968  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC Demand. on: November 17, 2012, 10:05:53 PM
If there's a massive spike that stays like with what happened to gold in 2008 then sure, that's a definite indicator, however you don't want to be like all these politicians and economists who get giddy and excitable over barely 1% change because that's nothing realistically in the long term.
8969  Other / Politics & Society / Re: This is your future... on: November 17, 2012, 10:03:22 PM
The trouble is that the people in these protests are only targeting what they can see they haven't gone through history and found the real culprits like a lot of the people on this forum have.
8970  Other / Off-topic / Re: Posts so stupid you can't even be bothered to argue with them on: November 17, 2012, 04:59:24 PM
For servers I'd just offer up a really cheap subscription but also make sure that people can host their own servers if anything goes wrong, you know from what I've seen most big name MMORPGs are $14.99 a bloody month? That's insane! Especially when you consider the amount of problems you sometimes get with them.
8971  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What were your concerns when you were 9 years old ? on: November 17, 2012, 04:48:49 PM
It isn't just children in warzones that are thinking like this now, because of so much exposure to the media even what most would consider normal children are growing up to question things, unless of course the parents decide its unacceptable and stamp it out of them.
8972  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Germany asks to see gold. U.S. says No. on: November 17, 2012, 04:41:26 PM
Obama went ahead and tried to solve the economy once by selling off a good chunk of the U.S' reserve oil I wouldn't be surprised if he's trying the same tactic with gold too, we've had the same thing happen with Gordon Brown where he sold something like 40% of the countries gold?

Yeah, this is going to work out well >_>
8973  Other / Off-topic / Re: heeeeeeeey on: November 17, 2012, 09:35:11 AM
Well it could be worse O_O Tongue
8974  Other / Off-topic / Re: Posts so stupid you can't even be bothered to argue with them on: November 17, 2012, 08:59:16 AM
I think the normal method of paying for games and then just playing them has worked fantastic, if you can't sell your games then they must either be rubbish or enough people don't know about them, either that or you need to price it cheaper so that people will be encouraged to buy it.
8975  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Somebody in Washington is not happy on: November 17, 2012, 08:47:50 AM
Well, I reckon you don't ask permission to secede, you just go ahead and frickin' do it.

While this is encouraging, I could see it getting co-opted on a national level and going pfft like the occupy movement for example...

Well I hope that's not the case, the problem with the occupy movement is the ones that appeared on the media at least were misguided people really raging against the establishment and didn't actually know what caused it so they targeted the most obvious scapegoat wall street. While these guys did benefit a lot from the crisis they didn't actually cause it. Peter Schiff even posted up a video on youtube where he tried actually debating with them on their own terms and thought they should be marching on the federal reserve instead but they just went ahead and ranted about evil corporations.

What I'm worried about is these states that succeeding are only going to be filled with racist and religious evangelicals like the kind that would watch fox news and believe every word of it, if that happens then the movement would lose all credibility and just be another pathetic confederacy.

I just found a great example that did it for me on the Planetside 2 forums, I managed to get into the beta awhile ago and I've seen it go downhill constantly but this really did it for me, it's from a user defending the pay to win system that SOE put in and it's something that a lot of games do right now.

Quote
You aren't forced to buy anything in game, you can simply play the game and earn the certs for everything. It may take a week to get a really expensive gun, but that should be expected in an MMO. The game is NOT about progression, it's about fighting huge battles.

For those who don't know in Planetside 2 you earn experience points that then build up into certificate points ( for some reason, I never got it ) and then you spend it on weapons upgrades etc. for your vehicles and infantry classes in an RPG style system like Call of Duty, this of course immediately means, massive balance problems, griefing and favouritism. What I find particularly stunning about this guy and many people him is that he's actually convinced himself and is trying to convince others that in order for a game to be an MMO it has to have grinding when it's just a category! Then there's the way he goes on about purchasing crappy in game cheats ( which is what these items really are ) as if it isn't a completely game breaking thing.

I think I'll go play Metal Fatigue or something to cheer myself up, as someone who beta tested that game for awhile, avoid it, it's filled with problems and SOE are no where near finishing it, they've done a rushed job of it to get to a November release date, it's actually gotten to the point where I can't argue with morons like this anymore, I'd rather argue with Paul Krugman.
8977  Economy / Economics / Re: Common misconception on: November 16, 2012, 01:37:38 PM
Long duration deflation encourages hoarding, short duration deflation encourages spending.

Hardly, having products to spend the money on encourages spending, deflation has nothing to do with it the only thing deflation and inflation effects is prices.
8978  Economy / Economics / Re: Has the 'Bitcoin Experiment' changed your political or economic views at all? on: November 16, 2012, 12:47:41 PM
Only Neo-Keynesians and fans of Paul Krugman would claim that the poor being able to work less for more would be a bad thing which is basically what you say if you say you support an inflationary currency.
8979  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I'm looking for partners for GPU mining I have free electricity on: November 16, 2012, 08:57:52 AM
Development project fully paid by European Union.

Sounds more like a government subsidy than being free.
8980  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Consensus-based society with provably-fair voting on: November 16, 2012, 08:15:38 AM
So long as politicians are able to make choices independent of the people who voted for them voting will never be fair.
