901  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Chili – 30+GH/s BFL based Bitcoin Miner Assembly on: November 01, 2013, 02:59:38 AM
Just wanted to put it out there that I am using Ubuntu 12.04 CGMiner 3.5.0 and all I had to do was plug it in to an open USB port and my Chili has been hashing away at 34 GH/s with temp at 70-72C. I really like this board....

This is how it should be.

Ill have mine hashing by Friday with an ARCTIC Accelero TT II and press on heatsinks under the chips and voltage regulator.

I will post my cgminer results Friday.

Please post up some pics when you have it all built. I'm interested to see how you are attaching the heatsinks.

Looking for some feedback before I make any permanent additions.

Here is the Chili...

Here is what I plan on doing with the heatsinks on the bottom... please let me know if this is worth doing or needs better placement... was going for base of mosfets and capacitors not the inductors.

Here is whaat I might do with the remaining heatsinks... is this even worth doing?

TYVM!

I know I can't prevent people from using clone accounts to receive coins, but the thread is getting spammed with new users who created an account after I opened the topic.
This is probably done by people who want a larger piece of the pie. Sometimes 3 in a row with just minutes between registration.

Because of that, a new rule has been added to the OP:

Quote
The rules:
- 1 Pennies address per user allowed
- your Pennies address has to be posted within 3 days from now (look at time/date stamp of this topic)
- after 3 days I will share 1,000,000,000 Pennies between the addresses posted in this topic
- calculation and transaction ID's will be posted so everyone can see it's a fair giveaway
- to prevent the creation of clones to claim a larger share, only user accounts created before I started this topic will receive Pennies.

Accounts that were created after I started this thread won't receive coins. This rule is not negotiable.

Very well done... updating my client now.

I've sent my verification email now that most should have already been validated.

I just want to express... as a small quantity holder... I feel screwed out of what should have been decent dividends for these last few weeks... I have received NOTHING and now that difficulty is racing due to BFL finally catching up and the rest of the vendors coming out... LRM is only going to play a chasing game... it feels like having less than 20 bonds is not even worth the time it took to buy the few I own...

Those with less than 20 bonds should be entitled to refuse payout until a certain threshold of BTC has been reached... instead of getting nothing week after week because of these new fees... it is not right IDC how much work you say it is... this whole Bitfunder issue has ruined what I thought was going to be a decent, small time investment.

Here is my request... tally my earnings and payout my dividends once a month not weekly... I don't feel like losing part of it to fees when it is a VERY small amount to begin with... I feel I paid for bonds that only return enough to pay their own fees... and continue to lose face value.

Anyone have pads left? Need enough for one 8 chip board.

And is this even an option? http://www.ebay.com/itm/LOCTITE-Thermal-Conductive-Pads-Self-adhesive-Phase-change-Interface-1-Foot-/331046544007?pt=US_Memory_Chipset_Cooling&hash=item4d13e96287

Or this? http://www.frozencpu.com/products/19922/thr-208/ATI_Original_Thermal_Adhesive_Tape_-_35mm_x_15mm_x_10_-_8_Pack.html

Anyone try using paste with success? Results?

So it looks like Darsek problem will not resolve it'self and even if all the PoS blocks were to have matured, and PoW was flowing again I think it will only be a matter of time before the next issue.

I want to go ahead with a cash in & relaunch KED the second coming.

The easiest way would be to start a thread, on the forum www.scificointalk.com where people can stake a claim to their share of the first super-block.

Can someone start this thread for me please and link back here.   In the thread I need users to post their main/first wallet address, the amount of coins, your preference for the new KED...  reward, fees, Block time, total coins, algo (Scrypt/Sha256d/S-jane) etc.

So we will work on a new coin with 100,000 super-block  80,000 to be distributed to the current KED owners and 20,000 for a Logo competition.

If anyone has a strong objection to this let me know ASAP.

PLEASSSSSSSSSEEEEEEE make it SHA-256 Cheesy:D All others are sCrypt Sad Make the Klingon coin more powerful like klingons Cheesy:D

You don't really want that... a VERY small percentage of the miners of these three coins will have ASICs... but the couple or more who do will ruin it for ANY GPU miners at all... it is not worth alienating the entire subset of miners who do not wish to buy special equipment to mine at a reasonable rate when they are already used to GPU and CPU mining.

You think KED has issues now... wait till a 100+ GH/s miner drops his hashrate on a Shas256d KED... you will all regret it... especially since KED is going to be added to Cryptsy which means it WILL be publicized on coinchoose.

You are best to like it being scrypt and leave it at that.

Not in the long run. When BTC becomes unprofitable to mine, users with ASICS will turn to alts. SHA is the future of crypto's. IMO.

LOLOLOLOL... ok ill stop...

OK so... the most fundamental base of BTC right now is mining MUST be profitable, the miners will hold and refuse to sell otherwise... so as ASICs evolve... so will the cost of BTC as electricity per BTC mined increases. It will be that way well into 2032.

Just quick math that did not seem right...

$350 for a 2nd batch board... all good not a bad markup at all.

another $350 for people who don't own chips? That is only $43.75 per chip in an 8 chip chili... is that right? Though all the chips were $56 if you supplied them?

Not that I want anyone to have to pay more but when you first mentioned the 2nd batch board would be $350 I kinda anticipated you would sell fully populated Chilis at around $800.

Just making sure that $700 was not a typo.

We've had our first major screwup on the board, and it's entirely my fault. We used to have two different LEDs on the test board, green for the power rails and red for the status LEDs. On the production board there's only one main power LED along with the 8 status, and they're (supposed to be) all red. Unfortunately I screwed up and ordered the green ones, so the now-green status lights won't be as bright as they would have been. Sorry. Tongue

Lol, you actually had me worried there for a minute!  Cheesy

inorite... i read that and started the facepalm... but halfway to slapping myself I read it was just LEDs and chuckled... if that is the worst we have to expect... id still say this was a home run.

I do have to ask though... why is there not a standard "here is the most basic, easy to install cooling configuration with instructions and links ot purchase the pieces" already?

Also, given I have a 4 chip miner, and that we will not know if we have "unlevel" chip heights until I actually have this in hand, I will have to wait until the day it arrives to assess my options instead of being ahead of the game with items ready upon arrival.

I have quite a few fabrication options at my disposal so, I may be tapping into those to get something custom made.

If chip height is uniform, Arctic Silver is the best suggested medium correct? If they are not uniform, the suggestion is thick pads?

is this coin dead?

Seeing as the user Bountycoin themselves has not chimed in, I would say yes, they are letting it die rather than respond to the multiple forks that have occurred.

RIP BOC.
915  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][BOC]BountyCoin - PoW+PoS|SHA256|Many Bounties (TRADE OPEN) on: September 29, 2013, 01:59:31 AM
So in case nobody noticed in the 2 weeks since the last post on this thread... there are several nodes that have forked this coin... as of right this moment... if you are anywhere ABOVE block height 66000, you are on the bad forks.

EDIT: Also... WTF is that pool link pointing to... Beaocoin... on some other type of coin not Bountycoin...

Beaocoin awards 4 coins according to the pool, and is under block 9000 while the BOC chain is aboout to touch 66000???
916  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HELP mining 7950 using onboard 4 display on: September 27, 2013, 03:39:15 PM
As posted on the Star Trek coin thread... I have tried this and it is not possible with a 3 series embedded and a discrete card.

You get one or the other.

The only solution that works for this I believe is using the new APUs on a mobo with onboard video that relies on the APU.

Anyone want to help a newb set up new hardware?  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=303094.new#new

I'm trying to use 7950 to mine and onboard 3300 for everything else, right now im using the 7950 for display and mining and getting pixilated spots, also having driver issues.

I'm posting here because the only cryptocurrency I have is these 3 coins, I'm willing to give up some UFC for help at this point!

As far as I know, I have tried this, and you cannot use 3 series embedded as a second display adaptor with a discrete card.

I think you guys are missing the point here...

MEC is not going to need all of that PR hype... CGB does because it will need broad adoption of various resellers, retailers and other locations to carry use of the coin...

MEC has a different destiny ahead of it... the PR will come naturally...

Plus... the more you get it in the limelight, the faster hashrate skyrockets and less coins for us in general... there is no need to make the whole world aware of MEC until the final month halving is finished.

When we get to the two year halving stretch, thats when the masses should be made aware. There is no benefit to being hasty in this.

Plus, if MEC is really the child of Mega.co.nz an its future is to be integrated into the Mega payment portal for services... it will get all the PR it needs.

I can't say I am speaking fact, since these statements have not been made by Kimoto or Dot Com themselves... but it stands to be a reasonable expectation.

Slow it down, ride out the next 7+ weeks until we hit 25 MEC blocks and enjoy your stockpiles... almost to 5 figures myself!
919  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [MΣC] Megacoin.co.nz - New formula is live on: September 19, 2013, 01:33:33 AM
Is anyone else both mining and buying MEC simultaneously?  That's where I'm at.

Just in case you're wondering where that dumped MEC is actually going.  I've got plenty of BTC to buy MEC with, and there are only 18m coins, so keep dumping - it's like the dumpers are doing all of the hard work for me (or us?).  I don't mind it at all, I hope the price stays low as the dumpers wallets run dry.

ME TOO!!!

Yes, I have been mining and buying, just got 5 fig in MEC,  I also like PHS as a sort of savings account coin with its POS,

It seems that Anoncoin and MegaCoin are in the race to be the first to implement the Zerocoin protocol but still prefer MEC over ANC for its faster network and it's better DIFF algo.  ANC Diff fluctuates from  250K  up to 2.3 million - INSANE (someone got a graphic?) while MEC treks on steadily climbing in DIFF and absorbing all aberrations in network hash-rate without a hiccup...  -digeros

Also if it is cocktail hour where you are you are in my zone...

hey MEC people,

anyone interested in having drinks and discussion about cryptocurrencies, i am buying the first pitcher of beer.
http://www.meetup.com/Elk-Grove-ButtonWood-CryptoCurrency-Trading-Discussion/

in Elk Grove, California tonight and weekly about 5 miles south of sacramento.  - digeros

I may have to take you up on that... should be in Sacramento in November to open a new store... would be there for at least a week... I will PM you when i know for sure if you are still being so generous... second pitcher is all me!

I constantly have a few MH dedicated to MEC (solo), for what it's worth.

 Grin

I don't care about mining profitability for this coin, more interested in the obvious features and potential rather than what it is worth "right now"

Have you seen this [potential] feature?

http://zerocoin.org/

Enjoy.

I know it is a lot... but read this whole thread... zerocoin has been a topic of discussion for MEC for a while now.
