9101  Other / Off-topic / Re: Posts about Bitcoin deleted and got the tag of a crazy person! on: November 03, 2012, 06:08:03 PM
I think you guys need to be more careful certainly if I see someone posting something that looks like an advertisement i.e viagra and counterfeit clothing I instantly ban them. Going around and posting about it as if you're trying to sell won't win you many friends, I'm keeping a fairly low profile on this board myself for that reason when I could just have come in and spammed like crazy Tongue You just need to show examples of it working etc I've signed up with bitpay and I'm going to put it up on my site, I also have absolutely no publisher or anything like that for the manga I'm making so I'm going to put it on bittorrent for free. That's free worldwide advertising! What moron would say no to that?

When the economy collapses again and I'm predicting a collapse of the whole EU at this point, you'll see people looking for an alternative and they'll most likely come to Bitcoin like I have to diversify, just don't be pushy and it'll be fine.

Happy Birthday Cheesy
9103  Economy / Economics / Re: How the hell do you measure how much goods are worth in Bitcoin? on: November 02, 2012, 04:29:46 PM
Thanks for the detailed response! In my signature I have the website, I'm going to be making it like your average digital store, so think GOG.com in terms of how it will operate, you set up an account, download the file you bought and you can get it as many times as you like, the product itself will be a bit like an ebook, I'm making all the images myself in photoshop and putting them into a .pdf file so people can just easily flick through them on their computer.

If you want an example It will work a lot like this: http://mangafox.me/manga/black_lagoon/v01/c000/4.html

Thanks for the information on the prices, I think I have a good idea now of how things will work, I guess this is the risk of entering an entirely new economy.
9104  Economy / Economics / Re: How the hell do you measure how much goods are worth in Bitcoin? on: November 02, 2012, 03:40:31 PM
That's high? Holy cow, I guess I'll sell it at 0.3 - 0.5 bitcoin then, I'm just going by the Mtgox exchange rate but this is what I'm talking about, if it's high now then what happens if someone decides to sell a ton of bitcoins and then the price drops massively?

What I plan on doing is to sell one volume and to encourage people to come back and buy more existing customers will get the next volume free, so if you come later and buy the second volume then you'll get the third volume free and so on. As I said before I'm not interested in ripping people off, I'm still trying to grasp how much bitcoin is worth and the way the economy for it works. There is of course going to be no DRM on the thing so you can store it offline and read it whenever you want or share it with friends, in fact I plan on also putting it on bittorrent as I've said before so you can see the full product and know I'm not conning you lol.
9105  Economy / Economics / Re: How the hell do you measure how much goods are worth in Bitcoin? on: November 02, 2012, 03:13:01 PM
I guess I'll sell for 1 bitcoin then and and just see how that goes Cheesy
9106  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why I really hate SomethingAwful on: November 02, 2012, 02:42:05 PM
Yeah, one of the first things I found when looking at Bitcoin was a thread by the SomethingAwful community attacking it, I don't really pay attention to those kind of people because their arguments are usually either flawed/incorrect statements/outright bullshit, people like this take advantage of the way that technology works to attack others without getting any response back. It's a bit like when you have youtube video posters who say something completely outrageous and stupid but disable the comments because they know they'll get called out on their bullshit.

I wouldn't bother to get all angry about it, I used to think there was something off about people who drew that sort of stuff but I'm honestly a lot more open minded now lol it's peoples choice whether they want to do that sort of thing and if you have people dumb enough to actually go out there, search for it and then rant about it that's just there problem and no one else. If it's any comfort to you one thing I've learned about douchebags like SomethingAwful is that they always hang out in their own little club, you'll never see them make any other friends because they can't so they stick together and pick on smaller groups or single people to inflate their egos, everyone will always hate people like that.

I dream of a day when I can block an entire I.P address from my browser so I never have to stumble on that kind of bullshit from a person again.
9107  Other / Politics & Society / Re: THE PRESIDENTIAL POLL: Who would bitcoiners elect? on: November 02, 2012, 01:20:27 PM
The real choice though, is between these two men. Hold your nose and vote.

This is why I don't vote.

I'm just like that with the UK elections? You are really going to make me choose between two morons? Fuck you! Smiley
9108  Economy / Economics / Re: Are we genetically programmed for Bitcoin economics? on: November 02, 2012, 12:03:33 PM

So as it turns out according to economists ( by economist I presume they mean Keynesians) the West is genetically predisposed for economic success,  and the monetary problems beginning to surface can be overlooked as we live in a world where genetics predict economic prosperity.

I'd never thought I'd find someone more racist than the Nazis.
9109  Other / Off-topic / Re: Disney buys LucasFilms.... on: November 02, 2012, 11:11:45 AM
The reason for me being so skeptical about Disney is because I watched the Lion King again recently for lulz and my adult self couldn't understand why my child self liked it at all, it was terrible! Yes, okay parts here and there but the only reason you could like it is if you hadn't experienced anything else which is probably why these awful kids shows do so well in suckering children into watching them. If they plan on turning Star Wars into something like Lion King then I don't know what I'm going to do with myself because the Star Wars universe has been butchered enough, maybe they should just let it die already.
9110  Economy / Economics / Re: Money as debt or how Bitcoin can have a bright future on: November 02, 2012, 11:07:34 AM
Seen this before, it's a very good video, money can't be used as debt forever, it's supposed to be a means of paying for goods, bankers have gone and twisted entirely what currencies are meant to be used for.

9113  Other / Off-topic / Re: why not pump and dump those jerks? on: November 02, 2012, 10:23:31 AM

you can't lock out anyone.

the first private non-tech-interested people who populated the internet were also perverts, drug addicts, criminals searching for contact with like-minded people.

we have to walk through this wild-west-times again in bitcoin. maybe we can use some of the experience from the late 90's.

You're right, now where's my internet equivalent of a shotgun?
9114  Economy / Economics / How the hell do you measure how much goods are worth in Bitcoin? on: November 02, 2012, 10:09:22 AM
I'm aware of the basics before the economists here rant at me, the premise is very simple in that you just let the market decide how much your product is worth, lots of sales? Keep it at the same price, if everyone is ignoring you? Lower the price and hope they'll be attracted.

What is throwing this logic out of whack though and making me shit myself is inflation, I'm trying to think of how you would fairly price something like manga for instance ( usually $3 - $5 per volume at most ) that's fine on it's own with the usual currencies but what happens when you throw bitcoin in the mix? ZOMGWTFHELL! While this is exaggerated I can easily see bitcoin jumping up to $16 for 1 bitcoin! How do you price bitcoin on something like that? This may be what is partially scaring the living daylights out of people with bitcoin because you can see it on the exchange now in my usual currency for £6.

Surely you can see where I'm coming from, I would of course being a believer in Austrian economics measure against precious metals like gold, but there of course you have the exact same problem with the inflationary currencies throwing everything out of whack, gold is going crazy high because of the way the federal reserve is printing. Is it a case of having to detach yourself entirely from the other markets when dealing with bitcoin or is there some kind of system people can follow? My manga is going to be about 100 pages long for the first volume, so it will be worth something but I want to make sure I don't rip people off for wanting to use bitcoin.

There is of course the problem where you have bitcoin falling in value as well so would that justify a price increase? Or do you just simply keep everything the same to provide some kind of stability for your customers?
9115  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Obama or Romney ? on: November 01, 2012, 06:28:01 PM
If you knew anything about the nervous system like I do you'd know where, in martial arts you get taught where the most vital points of a body are so you can avoid killing them by accident, as for guns well, of course the person is going to bleed to death anyway if you just leave them there, but you can't be that much of an asshole you'd just leave them to die right?

Having self-defense laws that make sense would mean you wouldn't have to waste as much money on a police and military while providing a lot of clarity for the people who are kept so it would drastically reduce the amount of money involved in law.

Did you attack this person? Yes? Then you're going to jail, it's that simple.

If Theymos can not maintain a neutral position, then he should resign and hand the reigns of power over to someone who can enforce the rules consistently and independently of their own subjective feelings or any personal criticism that has been leveled against their private business activities.

That's usually when the communities I've been in fall apart, some person comes along thinking they can do better and then everything goes to hell.
9117  Other / Off-topic / Damned home phone handsets on: November 01, 2012, 06:05:49 PM
I'd swear more but I'm trying to stay relaxed right now Tongue I just got pretty pissed at the house phone because I received several phone calls clearly from telemarketers or some assholes like them and every time they rang for about 5 seconds and each time I had almost got to the phone the fuckers hung up. My only conclusion could be drawn is that they were trying to make money out of me so they didn't have the time to wait around for someone to answer or whoever is trying to talk is an impatient twat that can't wait thirty seconds for me to get down the stairs and pick up the phone.

I swear when I get my own place, I'm disconnecting my phone line and just using the internet and mobile phone so I don't get bloody pestered constantly.

AND BREATHE......

When the hell did I say it was going to be a little utopian society? It's no wonder people are getting banned from here if they're losing their temper with people like you who have the balls to quote someone and completely lie about what they're saying at the same time.
9119  Other / Off-topic / Re: Sleep on: November 01, 2012, 04:59:58 PM
I've actually found that I sleep far better if I go to bed really early at around 7:00pm - 8:00pm, I even feel healthier when I wake up and need to sleep less which is interesting for me O_O if I go any later than that usually I'm completely wasted when I wake up.
9120  Other / Meta / Re: [To Theymos] Why was Goat banned? on: November 01, 2012, 04:52:24 PM
Why put an ignore function in the forum if all you're going to do is ban/delete people you have a problem with? Use the ignore function and everyones happy, who cares if someone posts something stupid? It happens all the time, I've said stupid things before that I kick myself for when I read back on it but I think when we just ban people we disagree with or who have legitimate criticism all we do is just wreck communities. I've seen it happen again and again wherever I go often the thing that kills communities isn't what people complain about, it's when admins try to fashion their own little utopian societies through force.

I'm shamelessly going to plug my website here, but you guys are more than welcome join up on my forum, you can post right away after you join and there's even a chat room I've set up that I've posted the link to, it'll practically be anarchy and I'll be sure to make sure the ignore/block functions work everywhere so you don't have to put up with any nuisance. My only plan regarding it is to ban virus posters and bot spammers.
