We paid in BTC, not dollars. So we should actually get more back than we paid, in theory.

Only the chips were in BTC, the assembly was converted to dollars.  So we'll get much less back than we put in.
942  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: RAM-Reduction & Backup Center Testing (version 0.89.99.8) on: November 03, 2013, 03:41:22 PM
Linux n00b and dangerous so .....

I am trying to compile from source on  Debian.  When I do "git clone testing" Debian craps out
 bob@debian:~/BitcoinArmory$ git clone testing
Cloning into testing...
warning: You appear to have cloned an empty repository.

I had already ran the original git command as noted in "Building Armory from source"
Thanks in advance.

You want to checkout instead of clone for that part.
943  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: RAM-Reduction & Backup Center Testing (version 0.89.99.8) on: November 03, 2013, 03:22:16 AM
your priority should be Mac at the moment...many users use the armory for mac and I myself have A LOT of bitcoin stuck in it...

If you have coins you can't access because of the Mac OS then just dual boot linux or run it in a virtual machine.
944  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Need a PayPal refund for your BFL purchase? on: November 03, 2013, 03:21:02 AM
Am now concerned that they might show the shipping confirmation to paypal now and advise paypal to charge my card again (my card / bank account is on file with paypal) for the amount of jala.

Can they do that without my authorization.?

No, if the dispute is finished then there is nothing they can do.  They can't just ship people stuff they don't want and then charge them for it.
945  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Need a PayPal refund for your BFL purchase? on: November 02, 2013, 09:02:42 PM
If the dispute hasn't been closed/finalized then they could use your acceptance of the package to nullify your dispute.

You could print out the message instead of using a usb key.  Maybe you could turn it into some kind of qr code.
947  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: October 31, 2013, 09:45:41 PM
If you want them shipped, send him an email.  He won't reply except with a tracking number.

PC Mac or Linux?

On PC it's in C:/Documents and Settings/yourusername/AppData/Roaming/MultiBit

it should be called multibit.wallet unless you renamed it.

55 nm is starting auction tomorrow.  I wonder if they're pin compatible and if anyone will trust Avalon again or if we'll just let greed take over.
950  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lost wallet on: October 31, 2013, 07:29:08 PM
Yeah we need to know which wallet you're using first.

He'll be able to detect the EMF radiation/ pollution from that distance with a mass spectrometer. :/

Have you ever heard of EMF radiation sickness ?

Have you ever used a MS?
Did you know that 2.4GHz is way less dangerous for you than visible light?  Do you live in the dark?

Sounds like it's time to break out the oscilloscope.
953  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: October 30, 2013, 11:44:09 PM
I'm debating on moving ahead and just asking him to ship my miners, if they are fully functional with low hardware errors, I don't see a reason to have to reprogram the firmware.

Should there be any reason to wait?

It looks like the only thing missing now is the i2c functionality to allow you to chain the miners together and only use 1 usb cable.  If you don't mind connecting each miner to its own usb port I don't know what else you'd be missing.
954  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: October 30, 2013, 10:59:18 PM
The stable version of armory is fine.  It's just the beta version that's... beta.

As mentioned in my last post, people are very vague about security risk probabilities. Words like "fine" aren't that helpful when we're talking about extremely low probabilities. In general, people are not designed to reason well about low probability events.

I would guess that the Armory wallet code is at least 2x as likely to contain a bug that will somehow result in me losing bitcoins than the QT code (without me looking at either codebase, just based on the # of eyeballs that have looked at each codebase and the fact that QT has had more usage). What I'm trying to figure out is if the added theoretical security of Armory is worth my estimated 2x bug risk, but it's hard because I haven't seen anyone do a detailed enough analysis when discussing this.

Talk about not being designed to reason well about probabilities...
955  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: RAM-Reduction & Backup Center Testing (version 0.89.99.8) on: October 30, 2013, 08:54:41 PM
Is there an option to disable the registration for url?  Maybe that could be a temporary workaround for you.
956  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: October 30, 2013, 08:53:11 PM
I haven't switched to Armory yet, because it looks from this thread like the Armory code is in a lot of upheaval and the QT wallet code is more stable. I'm basically estimating that the increased chance of a bug in Armory which results in me somehow losing my money offsets any theoretical security benefit I'd get from it. I haven't really studied the risks though. What would you say to people who shared my concern?

The stable version of armory is fine.  It's just the beta version that's... beta.
957  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: October 30, 2013, 04:17:30 PM
I'm confused with all this entropy randomness stuff?  Can't I just use armory and encrypt my wallet?

It's only for people who don't trust their computer.
958  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: October 30, 2013, 04:09:12 AM
I just requested my 8 Klondike's to be shipped without USB bootloader, anyone recommend a good cheap pickit3 ? Also how fast will these hash with the current firmware?  Is 350 stable?

There's only one pickit3 -- just buy it from microchip, newark, ebay, etc.
959  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Automated Trading Contest (Prize 2 BTC) / Round 4 on: October 29, 2013, 11:39:18 PM
Can someone explain me this?
What difference between "Buy and Hold" and single Buy and Hold made in this simulation?

I had a typo when calculating buy and hold -- I entered 0.95 to account for the fee instead of 0.995.
960  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: October 27, 2013, 03:14:22 AM
The pickit is really easy to use, pretty much plug and play.
