You can have multiple wallets in two data directories. So: - copy your existing data directory to a new one. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Data_directory- delete the wallet.dat file in it - run bitcoinqt/d with the datadir option pointing to the new directory and a different port: bitcoin-qt -datadir=<dir> -port=8334 https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Running_Bitcoin- It will create a new wallet for which you should set a password. - create a shortcut for the above command. It would be even easier if you used a client other than bitcoin-qt. Electrum, multibit, armory all support multiple wallets. yea but now you have two huge data directories with the whole blockchain on them Why just do not install another wallet different fromthe one you have? |

I have a viable explanation for what is going on on Gox charts, some dude early adopter sold shitload of coin at 1200 and programmed the bot in Amazon cloud to trigger when the price goes under 300$ without deadman switch and than died.
The bot is selling, not buying. It's also been on way before gox went below 300. True. We can also say that this is normal :-) |

Hello,
BTC is traded at $100 at MtGOx now as compared to +500$ at other exchanges. If I have understood things correctly, you can freely move your bitcoins between your wallets and between exchanges as well. Also, a bitcoin is a bitcoin regardless of which wallet it is stored in.
Given the above, what if someone were to throw the dice and buy e.g. 1 bitcoin at MtGox at "discount price" and then transfer it out of MtGox (if/when that becomes possible) to another exchange and sell it for what 1 bitcoin is worth there? If MtGox goes bankrupt or otherwise fails, you would most likely lose all your funds, but if you were willing to risk it, is it technically possible?

Easiest way to do that is to increase the profitability of the coin. So lets get rid of some of the sell orders at 10-15 satoshi. These walls are stopping any price growth. Ditto that, I'm not even selling a single coin myself, hold on to them for future value, or at least stop selling them at stupid prices. +1000 hahaha for me even more that +1000. Guy hit the point! |
