961  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Which Hardware Wallet is The Best? 2017 on: August 31, 2017, 05:35:58 PM
Perhaps I won't ever understand why people would want to make money then put it inside a hardware wallet that they did not build themselves.
It's like people just like to lose a bunch of money or they just don't care for their future. There should be a do it yourself hardware wallet tutorial that would be cheap and just as efficient as Trezor.

Indeed, Trezor is 100% opensource and there are some information on the internet about DIY it with a raspberry pi for example.

However, take myself as an example, I had a cold storage before but finally decide to give Trezor a try - I simply don't have time to mess up with these projects and don't want to risk my coins. Better leave it to the specialists and pay the money.

Did it with  pi 2, it was very convenient to use, though a lot of lags Sad(

Dang, the Pi2 is pretty fast I thought.  What do you believe the bottleneck was?

Are all coins created under the Microsoul brand affected or only certain series?

Thanks to everyone who sent PM's but I found one and made a deal. If I'm in the market for another I will reach out to those who contacted me.
Im not sure how to close the thread so maybe a moderator can.

Nice pickup!  In order to close the thread you edit the first post of the thread and click the "Additional Options..." link which should allow you to lock it.  Smiley

969  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: August 29, 2017, 03:41:56 AM
Guys, I use vanitygen plus with 1080ti and after several hours of work I get an error: CODE

Any ideas? Please help!

What model GeForce GTX 1080 Ti are you using and if you kill/restart vanitygen does it start working again properly?

Asus 1080 ti rog strix oc.
Yes, it does start working again with no problem, but after several hours this error repeats.

Interesting, I have the same card with that issue.  I wrote an auto-restart script to keep it to an extremely minimal amount of downtime, send me a PM if you'd like to try it out.

Does anyone knows if there's any alternatives to CryptoSteel (other than DIY) out in the market?

I'd be interested in this also as the "AnyKey" version always seems to be on backorder each time I want to purchase one.

Agreed this is shady and you should rename/edit the subject in the first post to reflect they aren't real.

I have decided to add Certificates of Authenticity for this line per a customer request/suggestion. These have now been created and will be mailing out soon to all of those who already have their coins. Please keep a look out for these. Thanks!

Chris @ f*D

Very nice, do you have a picture of what the COA will look like?

Thanks for warning the others RealHummer as that's a constant danger users have to watch out for when doing transactions on the forum.

In the case of the inaccuracies of the date, I would go off the date stamp like owl + dazed recommended rather than the day itself although it is up to Hiroaki to work it out with the winning bidder(s).

As others have stated and I believe you've seen, we'd like to have you/others stay around and we try to look out for each other.  Hopefully my PM was well received and we can move on from that incident.

PM sent and if you decide to sell it I think an auction would be the best route.  Smiley

This is what I use to kill a process if something severely locks up:
kill -9 `pidof oclvanitygen`

Is there a clue you can go on such as the temperature of the GPU dropping instantly when the program locks up?

is anybody aware of a newer listing of expected keysearch rates than this (at least as old as 2015):

   https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Vanitygen#Expected_keysearch_rate

notable, inclusive of newer GPUs?

I'm not, but for a data point that's probably not on there, I'm seeing about 28 Mkeys/s from a Radeon RX460.  (Host system is Gentoo Linux with the AMDGPU driver and AMDGPU-Pro OpenCL layer.  I had to tweak calc_addrs.cl as described in https://github.com/samr7/vanitygen/issues/38#issuecomment-31248556 to get it to work.)

102 Mkey/s here with a single GTX 1080 Ti 11GB 352-Bit GDDR5X

I agree, the list should be updated and it's way out of date.
979  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Kialara Physical Bitcoins/HAVEN: Update on: August 26, 2017, 02:39:43 AM
Appreciate the update and transparency as always, thanks Max.   Smiley

A case for the older bars would be an awesome idea.   I have a storage case that I bought from a 3rd party but something that both protects and displays would be ideal.  Bonus points if it free standing or can be wall mounted.

That would be an awesome idea, I'd like to see something like that also.  The cases I have aren't for display but they protect them extremely well in a storage location if the items get moved frequently.
980  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Interest check: Funded Cryptolator Merlin Gold #004 of 120 MS67 on: August 26, 2017, 02:29:34 AM

EPIC and key validated!!!   Grin

The "g" on the public key for that print is commonly mistaken for a "q" when typed in and I can definitely see why.

Will it be going to auction now that you have the complete set?
